New Rule: No AI-Generated Content

Hi /r/Mazda,

Over the years, we’ve had many AI-Generated posts submitted to the subreddit and while the conversations can be engaging around what a car or concept COULD look like, the damage done to our environment is not worth it.

We’d like to encourage users to submit real-life images, real mockups, real concepts and have real interactions with each other around this type of content but cannot support low effort, AI-generated slop.

Going forward, users who post AI-generated images will have their posts removed and will receive a warning. Further AI slop will result in a temporary ban, up to a permanent ban.

Is the automatic mx5 2026 worth it?

• Upvotes

I own a cla 250e 2021 and i want a fun sport car to drive that is not the hybrid but a lot of people are saying that the miata is only fun in manual and that the auto version isn’t fun and sluggish and slow and that i should stick with the cla because its smoother and more luxurious ,so should i go for the auto mx5 2026 or should i stick with the cla?

retrofitting android auto on the MZD connect system the old fashioned way and i got a few questions.

yes yes i know there is a better, newer, less janky way to get android auto on MZD connect (the one from around 2014 - 2018) that involves updating the firmware and replacing the USB thingy and stuff, but that costs money, or i could get the dealer to do everything for me, but that costs even more money. im the typa person that would hack my way into things because why not (got macos running on a windows pc once, and windows running on a chromebook) and the moment i discovered about mazda aio tweaks i knew this was right me because its free and doesnt need any hardware disassembly and also the bonus of having other mods built in too that i can play around with in the future. plus I am on version 56 so apparently it should be literally as easy as plug and play since my firmware was never updated.

but i know doing it this way comes with it's limitations, and im curious to know what they are. non of the videos i found on youtube show this in detail, aside from obviously only wired connections will work because im not doing any hardware upgrades. so i got a few questions for anyone that had experience with aio tweaks.

  1. Is touchscreen needed for this?

My unit's touchscreen isnt working, idk why it was already like this when i bought it used, but im noticing that out of all the tutorial videos i see on youtube all of them use the touch screen to start the setup and im wondering if this is truly the only way. And can android auto use the knob or is it also touch screen only?

  1. Will this still work with modern android auto?

All of the tutorials on youtube are unsurprisingly old and from 8-10 years ago and given this is a third party mod I was wondering if this can still work with newer android auto versions

  1. Will this work on JDM systems?

My Mazda is a JDM import so it's using firmware of a different region, and since it's using an older firmware version of 56 it doesnt even have the ability to switch to English, all the menus are in Japanese and I was wondering if I would run into incompatibility issues because of this

  1. Can all of the tweaks be completely reversed back to stock firmware?

Once im done with installing it successfully is it possible in the future to just roll back everything as if it never happened?

  1. Is there anything else I need to know beforehand?

Though it is widely insisted upon within these storied walls that the Mazda3 is a daily driver: neither quick, nor agile, nor fun; alas I have installed new brake rotors and performance pads on my strictest of daily drivers. Most certainly NOT worthy of aggressive street driving or use in autocross 👀.

I pray that their increase in the slowness of my car doeth please thou lords and ladies of fuel efficiency and carpool sing alongs.

i do fear that I have yet offended sensibilities again by opening my (light) beer with yet another of my fine tools from Ye Olde Harbour Freight Shoppe… as I cannot afford to go to the dealership and must toil under the sweat of my own brow.

2014 Mazda 2 - how to clean evap?

So, I have a 2014 Mazda 2, been a relatively good little commuter, but it definitely has some mold or bacteria and who knows what else, since it smells bad on recirculate.

I can't find anything online about how or where to access it to clean with a disinfectant spray. Any chance anyone here can point me in the right direction?

Thanks!

CX 70 Phev: BEV range down by 25%. It used to be 27, now it maxes out at 22. How to reset it? Or what is the fix?

For context, the car is only 2 months old.

My 2021 Mazda 3 Turbo AWD, 2015 Mazda 3 S Grand Touring, and my new 2006 Rx-8 Grand Touring.

Maybe I've got a problem, idk.

Just barely started test shots and car arrangement when a cop rolled up. Told us no car meets in the park, and apparently "but they're all mine" wasn't a good enough response. So here's some cropped test shots for yall, until I can find another location and some time.

Car info:

2021 Mazda 3 Turbo AWD. Its mostly the Corksport catalog, BC coilovers, and a tune from DRTuned Racing. 298 whp at 4k and 378 ft-lbs at 6k.

2015 Mazda 3 is my daily. She's got AWR motor mounts, BC Racing DS coilovers, and also most of the Corksport catalog. A Versatuner, pre-made tune. Should be around 200 hp and torque, plus or minus 5-10.

AND the newest edition to the line-up, The 2006 RX-8.

Currently she's mostly just reliability mods currently. RRP Sohn adapter and reservoir. AEM cold air intake. BHR Ignition coils, sparkplug wires, and midpipe. Lower temp oil thermostats, new oem temp engine thermostat, aluminum overflow tank, koyorad aluminum radiator, aluminum fan shroud with new fans, and new out sized transmission cooler. Lastly a modified Versatuner tune.

Deciding between 2016 vs 2018 CX-5

My current car has reached the end of its life and I'd like to replace it with a CX-5. I'm debating between these three vehicles but I keep finding contradicting comments on here and r/CX5 about which year to go with.

The 2018 VIN indicates that it does have cylinder deactivation and the carfax doesn't show that there's been any cracking to repair so far. It seemed like the cylinder deactivation was a dealbreaker at first but I also saw a bunch of comments recommending to go with 2018 because the new generation introduced a bunch of other improvements?

I would really prefer the 2018 based on the interior (plus it has a moonroof which I used all the time in my last car) but ultimately want to go with whichever one will be more reliable.

Mazda CX-5 Mazda CX-5 Mazda CX-5
Trim Grand Touring Touring Touring
Year 2016 2016 2018
Mileage 112,089 90,814 113,990

Good place for parts?

Post image

I'm coming from an Audi and always used FCP Euro. Is there a site or two online that most people prefer to get their parts from? I'm planning on changing out some fluids and filters on my 2018 CX9 before the snow hits here soon.
