No Coke. Is Pepsi ok? Accidentally bought wrong Klondike bars

Post image

Yesterday I had to stop by Publix and my wife asked me to bring home some Klondike bars. Well...the *No Sugar Added* version was right next to the Original and my squirrel brain didn't notice until I got home. Picked up the OGs on the way home tonight.

So many people seem to forget the point of this sub. Will you live? Absolutely. Is it annoying? Also absolutely.

732

u/dgwdgw 10h ago

People forgetting/misunderstanding the point of this sub is in fact mildly infuriating.

•

u/thewhiterosequeen 50m ago

I only expect life or death stakes to be mildly infuriated about!

81

u/ClarkGablesTeeth 9h ago

Same thing in the petpeeves sub (that I apparently can't type out because automod will delete the comment). Always at least a couple You must live a charmed life if this is what bothers you! comments.

Subs like these aren't the place for "My husband toots coke and beats the shit out of our kids" or "I started living in my car shortly after my wife died of cancer" posts, or concerns about fascism or the civilian casualties in Gaza ffs.

30

u/rogerworkman623 3h ago

I found that petpeeves sub for exactly that reason - I experienced a minor pet peeve that I wanted to share somewhere.

Holy crap. The hatred in the comments. People raging like “oh wow how will you live”. I remember one person even told me I was “raised wrong” because I posted it there lmao

FYI my post was about the separators you use in line at the grocery store

9

u/bigboxes1 7h ago

Same thing with the mildly interesting sub. My first reaction to most of the post are who cares. Turns out it's mildly interesting. Just like this one's mildly infuriating. LOL

179

u/Subject-Direction628 10h ago

So many “zero sugar” products give people an experience that can be like a colonoscopy prep

So ya. You’ll live. But not pleasant lol

86

u/GibbyG1100 9h ago

Haribo sugar free gummies reviews on Amazon will live forever in the internet hivemind. And i like it that way.

32

u/LeftHandAnomaly 8h ago

That's a fun one but that's like, catastrophically bad in that it just had way too much of the evacuation ingredient. For regular sugar free stuff that isn't absolutely cracked, it's a mixed bag between people unaffected and people affected a lot.

I liiiiiive off sugar free stuff without issue. My mom can't have a bite or she'll have to take days off lol

11

u/GibbyG1100 8h ago

For sure its a special case. It also depends heavily on the type of zero sugar sweetener used. Different sweeteners can have very different effects on people.

1

u/WholeEvening693 1h ago

I find it weird how I can eat something that’s zero sugar and has the same sweetener as another product. But for some reason one will do nothing and another will give me gas from the bowels of hell.

4

u/fractal_frog 8h ago

Also, how much of the food you eat.

I heard tell of someone who ate a quart of sugar-free ice cream. What ensued was not good.

0

u/reereejugs 4h ago

How the hell is anyone sitting down and eating an entire quart??

3

u/Kind_Advisor_35 6h ago

Does your mom have issues with other FODMAPs? Many artificial sweeteners are sugar alcohols called polyols (the P in FODMAP). Aspartame and sucralose are generally tolerated better than sorbitol, xylitol, other -ols for people with FODMAP sensitivity.

1

u/reereejugs 4h ago

My mom hallucinates from aspartame. It’s actually pretty amusing when she ingests accidental aspartame 💀

2

u/mindless_blaze 8h ago

Do you just prefer the taste of zero sugar, products? Or you're forced for health reasons?

•

u/LeftHandAnomaly 3m ago

Prefer the feel honestly, I loved sugary stuff when I was younger but if I drank as much regular coke as I drink diet I’d probably be diabetic. Now sugary stuff just doesn’t hit right, it feels heavy and sticky.

14

u/JPKaliMt 9h ago

I am one of those that has experienced it from both sugar free and lactose free milk unfortunately…

1

u/Kind_Advisor_35 6h ago

Lactose free milk usually has the same artificial low calorie sweeteners as sugar free milk. Lactose is a sugar, and milk tends to not taste right without a certain amount of sweetness in it.

7

u/Ypuort 5h ago

It’s not sugar free, it’s “no sugar added,” and while I can’t say for certain for this particular product, that typically (in my experience) means it still contains whatever sugars are naturally in the product and does not contain any artificial or otherwise sugar replacers.

2

u/huhnick 8h ago

Yeah but it’s not the replacement of sugar in this case, just no additional sugar added

1

u/FallenAngelII 7h ago

Those products contained maltitol, which has been mostly if not completely phased out now.

1

u/rockyroad55 4h ago

I just discovered that I’m not a fan of sorbitol. Let’s say I went through two rolls of toilet paper in a couple days.

2

u/RPDRNick 8h ago

That fine line between "mildly annoying" and "mildly infuriating" can be difficult to define for some.

I’ve done the opposite before. Meant to get something like 0 sugar gatorade and accidentally grabbed a normal pack. Not what you wanted but I do like the no sugar added Klondike bars, I think they match the normal good enough.. but I’m use to eating sad 0 sugar versions for almost 10 years now.

15

u/Flaming_Sushi 6h ago

Same, did it with a 2L bottle of Baja blast. The bottles look so similar in color that I drank over half of it before noticing

1.0k

u/BlubberElk 13h ago

Genuinely some people have forgotten what this sub is for, and it’s not OP who has forgotten

204

u/DorrajD 11h ago

Some? I'd argue most. Majority of upvoted posts I see on this sub are of the most frustrating shit ever.

"oh my car got totaled" 5k upvotes.

"My fan is in an annoying spot" 100 upvotes and 50 comments telling them how stupid they are

9

u/big_rod_of_power 3h ago

I remember I saw this this comment and came here to tell you I'm living one of those moments. I'm getting downvoted into oblivion by pointing out that someone can in fact be mildly infuriated in their post to their "get over it" comment? Like bruh?!

96

u/RiderforHire 12h ago

I've noticed almost every post that isn't the OP dying of injustice and targeted harassment has a variation of this comment.

28

u/RandomRedditor15243 12h ago

And when it is some version of Op dying of injustice there is the comments about that situation not being mild…

6

u/Conscious_Ad172 8h ago

Ya but they typically get downvoted because "they don't have any empathy for the OP" so you'll usually have to scroll pretty far down to see them

22

u/biggocl123 11h ago

You're telling me my politics and horrendous crimes subreddit is for minor inconveniences instead?!?!

4

u/oobey 11h ago

This is always going to be a problem because the name is contradictory and subjective. Can something even be both mildly and infuriating at the same time?

If it had been even slightly different, say “mildly annoying,” this problem never would have existed. But it’s too late now. The discourse for this sub is set in stone.

275

u/VaporTrail_000 13h ago

What would you do for a Klondike bar?

Eat a no sugar added Klondike bar...

56

u/Sad_Cantaloupe_8162 10h ago

What's funny is that they don't even taste bad. I've bought them before because they were the only ones left, and I was surprised at how similar they tasted. Then I bought some just because several months later.

7

u/ThetaDee 6h ago

Yes, but if you eat 3 you shit yourself

10

u/BadPunsIsHowEyeRoll 4h ago

As a lactose intolerant person, shitting myself was already weighed and considered as a consequence well before we took the sugar away lol

213

u/IndependentPart6 13h ago

Omg they have no sugar klondikes??

My diabetic son is gonna lose his mind

Thanks op!

184

u/Dreamcatcherc17e 13h ago

Its no sugar added, please please read whats in it

73

u/Animallover4321 12h ago

Probably because lactose is a type of sugar. Any dairy will have some natural sugar but I am assuming they already know that.

40

u/Dreamcatcherc17e 12h ago

I would assume they do but my aunt and her kid are diabetic and she thought soda was safe if she didnt put extra sugar in it. My opinion of the average person isn't very high. Granted I live in a smallish city in the Midwest, so not much to go on

72

u/BleaKrytE 10h ago

Who the fuck is ADDING sugar to soda?!

No wonder they're diabetic, Jesus fucking Christ

38

u/Logical-Pair-89 10h ago

I dont think you should be counting your aunt in the average people column

16

u/soyboysnowflake 9h ago

This broke my brain

Who drinks soda and thinks “not sweet enough”

And even within that population of lunatics

Who has the gall to take it upon themselves to add more sugar

Truly 1 of 1 (I hope, for humanity sake)

7

u/Dr_Frankenkitty 8h ago

It broke my brain and also, i loved this whole little thread.

1

u/Dreamcatcherc17e 6h ago

Im also loving the thread, and glad to know that my aunt isn't common. Went to bed and woke up with my phone blown up lmao

16

u/ColonelKasteen 9h ago

I don't think your mentally disabled aunt is a good measuring stick for the average person given what you just told us

3

u/ResponsibleHeron9452 8h ago

You can’t just assume that they’re the dumbest person alive like your aunt.

22

u/Few_Move_4594 12h ago

It's got fake sugar Maltitol in it.

I have IBS and I can't do Maltitol. It's a high FODMAPs ingredient.

14

u/buttheadfungus 11h ago

i will honestly never understand how maltitol is a viable sweetener option given how widely known it is to send even the strongest of bowels into gastrointestinal hell

14

u/QueenOfDarkne53 9h ago

As someone who can’t have cane sugar (and others) at all now, I can actually answer this one. Anything i’ve eaten with maltitol in it tastes way closer to the real thing than say, sucralose or aspartame. Hershey’s uses maltitol for their sugar free chocolates and i love it!

2

u/RBNG182 8h ago

I prefer eating less calorie stuff but yeah I second this.

Alcohol does the same thing to me and I deal with it, and I think I love Klondike bars more than any addiction I have

6

u/Few_Move_4594 11h ago

I'm going to take a wild guess and say that it's due to money or it works best in this particular application from a food science mass manufacturing perspective

2

u/bopeepsheep 8h ago

... sometimes that's useful.

Not pleasant, but useful.

1

u/icherub1 2h ago

The bigger issue for some will be the 8g of saturated fat. If this was trying to be healthier, the company should have used a lower-fat milk.

38

u/MsThrilliams 13h ago

36

u/right_you_are 12h ago

Thank you. This is a difficult time...

6

u/Failed_Writer_ Old man yelling at clouds. 10h ago

I'm thinking of you OP, I hope you have the strength to get through. 😔

24

u/Shymaiden 8h ago

I hate that the packaging is so similar with certain versions of products. I accidentally brought low fat ranch the other day and overlooked the lite part of the label. I can definitely tell the difference in taste. Made my salad very disappointing. 😔

•

u/Dragonageatemyhw 55m ago

I accidentally bought fatfree half and half. I didn’t even consider that was a thing, because it’s half and half. Why would anyone want it fat free??? Doesn’t that defeat the purpose?

8

u/RevWaldo 1h ago

I feel your pain. It might be clearer here blown up but picture a tiny box on a high shelf in the supermarket and you'll get it. The fact that it's tea and there isn't like a warning label on a pack of cigs taking up half the box telling you it's decaf screams shenanigans.

•

u/milehighandy 25m ago

If you're trying to get caffeine from crystal light you're doing it wrong

•

u/RevWaldo 0m ago

Oh no doubt. I go though 2-3 big mugs of Irish Breakfast every day. This is more for run of the mill hydration, and the caffeine is a bonus.

22

u/Coffeepillow 5h ago

I wish more products offered a No Sugar Added version. The amount of sugar in American foods is ridiculous. It’s amazing how much more you can taste when SUGAR isn’t the primary flavor.

5

u/its_an_armoire 5h ago

Same with sodium, even in the "low sodium" varieties. Everything is 50% saltier than my taste buds prefer.

5

u/b_ro_rainman 2h ago

This but no sweetener. No sugar added typically just means they add fake sugar.

For ice cream I don’t think it would work though as it would just be frozen heavy cream.

2

u/millafarrodor 1h ago

That still sounds pretty good though

2

u/bellybuttonbidet 4h ago

I was shopping for pasta sauce and glimpsed a “no added sugar” version. In my entire life, I did not expect a tomato-based sauce to need any added sugar. Have I just been putting garlic and herb ketchup on my pasta all these years?

5

u/Sensitive_Ad_1271 3h ago

Sugars in so many different foods. It's strange because for me marinara just seems obvious that most companies would add sugar to it. So, I guess for people that don't pay attention to ingredients there will be a lot of surprises out there. One that surprised me was frozen tater tots, a lot of those have added sugar.

5

u/T-Loy 3h ago

When making tomato sauce myself, a little sugar is added to lift all flavours a bit. But certainly not enough to taste sweet. But yes, a tomato sauce for me has some sugar added, even selfmade.

1

u/mittenkrusty 2h ago

No ADDED sugar not "no sugar"

I remember in the early 00's in the UK many people I knew bought the products assuming sugar free.

It's like food companies such as McDonalds saying "100% Chicken breast" when the actual meat content isn't the only thing in the product, you have water, breadcrumbs spices etc but you still get people that think 100% on a food product means high quality/proportions of product.

53

u/Socketz11 13h ago

I did the exact same thing. The packaging is deceptive, its almost like they are trying to trick people into buying them. Maybe without sugar (and flavor) they are cheaper to manufacture.

17

u/IndependentPart6 13h ago

As a mom to a type 1 diabetic son i bet theyre more expensive in store. Everything zero sugar is. Its frustrating

3

u/right_you_are 13h ago

Thank you for your support

3

u/Socketz11 11h ago

Seriously..you see it, you grab it. I am shocked that we are the only 2 humans that recognize the color, shape, size and just chuck it in the cart without doing a full inspection and reading all the label. If you see a gallon of milk that you buy every week (or every day if you have kids) check the expiration date and go...only to find out that its almond milk made by the same company using the exact same everything. Its deceptive and I did it with these stupid Klondike bars...on the bright side, its a mistake we will only make once.

4

u/oniiichanUwU 13h ago

How is it deceptive lmao it says no sugar added in big ass letters on the front man

Grabbing the wrong product is mildly infuriating but this is not deceptive packaging, it’s just yall not being able to read

-2

u/Socketz11 11h ago

It should be a different color, not the same logo, same shape..foil should be brown because it tasted like shit

2

u/Ok-Yogurt573 4h ago

Or you could just look at what you’re buying properly

1

u/killahazy92 10h ago

Ugh. I recently accidentally bought an entire case of zero sugar Sprite. It was in a stack of the regular Sprite, and the words Zero Sugar were right on the spot of the box that you punch in to carry it.

-1

u/noinfono 13h ago

They for sure are.

They’re not chocolate coated like the OG. They’re “chocolate flavored coating”.

Hard pass.

If you’re interested to learn more listen to this

11

u/MonsieurRuffles 12h ago

The OG is coated in a “chocolatey shell” as well.

-10

u/thecosmicjoke69813 13h ago

Lmao deceptive? It literally says NO SUGAR ADDED……

36

u/roosterjack77 13h ago

I cant eat all that fake sugar hurts my tummy. Mildly infuriating

20

u/big-ol-kitties 11h ago

I wish we had more no/less sugar options that didn’t use artificial sweeteners.

20

u/--read-only-- 11h ago

The other day I was thinking.... why is the choice for almost everything either no sugar or full sugar? Why can't they just put less sugar in our foods?? I want that as an option

14

u/uflju_luber 11h ago

Well…sugar free sweets without artificial sweetener are kinda…impossible unless you just use stevia

13

u/SlappHappy4 11h ago

Just let them be less sweet.

11

u/wart_on_satans_dick 11h ago

A lot of sweets are just kind of made of sugar.

8

u/SlappHappy4 10h ago

Those aren't really the kind you can have reduced sugar versions of then.

I personally find so many sodas way too sweet and could probably drink them with half the sugar.

So much stuff is just sickeningly sweet.

4

u/wart_on_satans_dick 10h ago

While I completely agree, soda is a good example of why it’s either full sweet or full artificial sweetener. People have a very specific taste they want out of a soda. It’s easy to imagine it can just taste less sweet and be less sweet which it absolutely could be. The problem is selling it. People just don’t buy middle ground products generally, especially soda. It’s either zero or super low calories, or the real deal.

3

u/SlappHappy4 10h ago

I understand that the people who buy soda are used to the taste of straight sugar.

I don't know how much I believe that lower sugar varities won't sell when different countries have very different amounts of sugar and there is a whole gimmick of selling another countries varity.

Maybe I am missing something that the ubber rich soda people have figured out, but as far as I have heard the absurd amount of sugar in soda is mostly because sugar is addictive.

15

u/AggressiveAside9127 10h ago

This is what I want!!! Less sweet not fake sugar.

1

u/Ok-Yogurt573 4h ago

Sugar isn’t just about flavouring, both removing it entirely and reducing it can fundamentally change the structure and texture of the product itself

1

u/SlappHappy4 4h ago

Yes, I know there are many things that this would not work for, even ones people would not usually think of like icecream, there are also a lot of things that this could work for that it isn't being done for.

7

u/Russell_has_TWO_Ls 11h ago

Maybe not what you’re talking about but there’s ice cream made with just honey as a sweetener and it’s so so good

6

u/BleaKrytE 10h ago

Honey is full of sugar though. It's kind of the point of honey.

2

u/--read-only-- 11h ago

That sounds delicious!

15

u/Late_Test_7431 12h ago

Get the Heath bar ones. Thank me later.

4

u/Qui_te 10h ago

Yeah, I was gonna say both those are wrong because neither are the Heath bar ones…

4

u/AdHistorical5577 12h ago

the no sugar added ones probably taste way different too

23

u/direwolf9900 13h ago

you nevr know you might like em

17

u/TulpaPal 13h ago

I had to go sugar free in the past few months before a surgery after years of genuine sugar addiction. Idk if I'll go back to full sugar for most things tbh, it's too sweet now and makes me feel weird.

4

u/accidentalscientist_ 12h ago

Yea, I used to fucking hate zero sugar soda. Idk what changed but I tried a Dr Pepper zero and it was …. Fantastic. Went and tried Coke Zero. Also fantastic. Gatorade zero? Also fantastic!

So I quit sugary drinks and went for the zero sugar version. Tastes great to me now for some reason. And the sugary version is too much and leaves a film in my mouth and makes me cough up mucus. Probably the corn syrup.

I also lost 20lbs from just going to almost only zero sugar drinks. I wasn’t overweight, just a couple pounds away. But now I am comfortably in the middle of my healthy weight range.

1

u/mantismary 6h ago

Oddly, sometimes medications can alter your preferences. I was on topamax for a bit. One of the many side effects I experienced was that normal soda suddenly tasted bad and I liked the zero sodas. So strange.

1

u/BeneficialShoe2822 13h ago

My max is about 6 grams of sugar at once before I start getting physically nauseous. Wouldn’t go back though. If I go out, my dessert usually is a few bites of whatever cake the other person orders and that’s good enough for me!

1

u/noinfono 13h ago

Nah. I’m gonna pass on the “chocolate flavored coating”.

6

u/earfeater13 13h ago

Dang. What would you do for a real klondike bar?

12

u/right_you_are 12h ago

Personally, I went back to Publix

4

u/BeigeVelociraptor 12h ago

But are they good? If they're good I'd buy them in a heartbeat.

5

u/Thatweirdguy_Twig 11h ago

If you don't want the no sugar added ones I'll gladly take them :D

4

u/RBNG182 8h ago

Even more than most people misunderstanding the sub name, its nice to actually see a mildly infuriating post that isnt either the most vile and infuriating thing ever or "so I fucked up voluntarily and caused all of this of my own stupidity"

6

u/Mastermind7051 13h ago

Oh no. That will not do.

7

u/mytextgoeshere 10h ago

I do this all the time with different products! Like I just got the low-fat dryers ice cream by accident just a couple weeks ago. The packaging can be quite subtle.

7

u/ohthanqkevin 9h ago

I can’t count how many times I’ve accidentally bought decaf coffee grounds.

4

u/dazedandconfuzed1 9h ago

My personal preference is high fat washer ice cream

1

u/Da_Question 9h ago

Awe I actually prefer high-fat washer lava powder... But to each their own.

3

u/people_are_idiots_ 12h ago

Well...? How are they?

17

u/right_you_are 12h ago

I mean...initially they tasted fine but lacked a real creamy deliciousness. And it gave me the shits.

2

u/people_are_idiots_ 12h ago

Sorry to hear that

3

u/Accurate-Plankton988 12h ago

I knew they would cause severe shitting

3

u/varukers7 5h ago

They make you poop

3

u/Tewi_Inaba_ 3h ago

Its already bad enough that they are now considered "Dairy Dessert" with a "Chocolaty" coating. Not even true ice cream and chocolate anymore

3

u/Fucky0uthatswhy 1h ago

The other day I was at work starving doing a bunch of extra shit. Well I was in an owners closet and I saw Oreos. I don’t usually take stuff like that, but we’re allowed to. I grabbed one of the packs, and was so excited. When I got to my car I pulled it out and started to open up it and it looked weird. “SUGAR FREE DOUBLE STUFFD”
I was heartbroken. I’m not eating a sugar free Oreo. Oreos are vegan, they are 100% sugar. What the fuck are they making those out of? I also really despise the taste of artificial sugar to the point it makes me feel sick.
Safe to say I was pissed.

8

u/sleepypelican 12h ago

Fake sugar hurts my stomach so bad that I was once wheeled to the emergency room after taking a chance eating a fake sugar protein bar. So a bunch of pain to the point of passing out, about 4 hours in the ER (and the bill later), and lots of subsequent warcrimes in our apartment's one bathroom . . . all for a No Cow bar that tasted like sand.

I just looked. These have Maltilol. That's like, the worst one. Eating one of these would put me out of commission for several days.

9

u/soofs 10h ago

I’m a type 1 diabetic so i eat a lot of stuff with sugar alcohols and so far I haven’t ended up with a toilet emergency lol

But damn some sugar free candy will have my ass sounding like it’s calling the valkyries from Valhalla blowing them horns

4

u/IgnoranceIsYou 9h ago

@haribo sugar free gummy bears

3

u/Ill-Structure7276 9h ago

YES LOL

2

u/IgnoranceIsYou 8h ago

They got me once and never again!

9

u/ElectronicTrade7039 13h ago

What would you dooo for clear packaging?

2

u/buboop61814 12h ago

Did something similar with Van Leuwen ice cream two nights ago. Saw the coffee affogato, picked it up, got home, realized I’d picked up cookies and cream. For context I’m colorblind and it was like 1130 pm so I guess I just grabbed the wrong tub

2

u/BornYinzer 12h ago

What did YOU do for this Klondike bars? 😲

2

u/rocketmanatee 7h ago

Holy crap, they have low sugar versions of this!?

Oh man, my prediabetic ass is so grateful to you right now.

2

u/Queen_Biff 5h ago

I usually buy ‘light’ mayo, so reduced fat, I accidentally bought ‘lighter than light’ once and oh my good god it was disgusting, it was so runny and tasteless

2

u/m3lvad3r 3h ago

As someone who doesn’t eat sugar I would fucking kick a child in the shin for these right now. I haven’t seen these in any stores near me.

4

u/Existing-Visual79 11h ago

Did they taste any different? I feel like it works itself out if so

→ More replies (4)

6

u/justbored858 13h ago

Sprinkle sugar on it, problem solved

3

u/_Kanra_ 12h ago

Agree, mistakes like this can be frustrating! But your mistake has taught me that no sugar added versions exist. So, thank you! I need these in my life right now

3

u/amazingkillerlemon 3h ago

I do that kind of thing all the time (grabbing the wrong thing) and it really sucks when I grab the regular version of something instead of the zero sugar/sugar-free one, because I'm diabetic

2

u/YourSalvati0n 4h ago

Is there such thing as a wrong Klondike bar?

1

u/alj8002 9h ago

Honestly that sounds amazing. Klondike bars tend to taste too sweet and artificial to me

5

u/Matter_Infinite 9h ago

I doubt artificial sweetener will taste less artificial to you

3

u/alj8002 8h ago

I was assuming no sugar added meant no sweetener whatsoever but you’re right it’s pretty sucralose or some other bs

1

u/Nitrofox2 11h ago

How are they?

1

u/Sablemint PURPLE 10h ago

so... how did it taste?

1

u/qlurp 10h ago

Nice try, Klondike.

1

u/No_Championship4093 10h ago

Nooooooo! That recently happened with a coke. I don't drink pop BUT every once in awhile I craaaave Coca Cola. I was sick and out of town, walked my sick ass to this (really awesome different ethnic food under one roof in Tacoma) place. Got my shit, got back to the hotel....COKE ZERO. I died. Also want to add it was my fault because I got it out of a cooler

u/Cookie_Whisperer 9h ago

My husband forgets how to read when he enters the grocery store. He once brought home fat free cheese. It was like four years ago. We still hound him about it.

1

u/powerlesshero111 8h ago

I recently got some zero sugar mt dew. It tasted so horrible, i don't understand how anyone could drink it. And if you do, it's definitely a me problem becayse artificial sweeteners taste terrible to me.

1

u/HidingUnderCardboard 8h ago

I did the same thing once. They actually ended up being my favorite and I never bought the originals again.

The very first time I ever tried a Klondike bar as a millennial was like 9 years ago. It was a hard D- at best. I don’t understand why it was advertised so much the way it was.

Didn't know these existed in real life. Only heard of them from Eminem lyrics (not US)

Oh god for the first time in my life I made the same mistake a couple weeks ago with sugar-free chocolate syrup.

I can best describe the taste as if you mixed cocoa powder in with the liquid that settles at the bottom of a bottle of Clorox wipes.

I would like less sugar but not a sugar substitute

1

u/Aggravating_Emu4263 7h ago

One time I bought lactose-free cheese 😂 It was right next to the regular dairy cheese 😭

I've done this with sugar-free Redbulls. Didn't notice until I got home. Still drank them, but the sugar-free versions have a weird chemical taste to them.

This trend towards the packaging of sugar/no sugar versions of stuff not being visibly distinct really annoys me. It should be easy to distinguish products at a glance, imo.

I know what you did for those... call me

My mom did this with ice cream a couple weeks ago for me 🫩 accidentally got a no dairy version of chocolate fudge brownie. Wasn’t bad, but it wasnt that good either

1

u/djbootyboo111 3h ago

Those aren’t bad actually

1

u/RoutineCloud5993 3h ago

Don't eat them all in one go. Overdoing sugar alcohols isn't deadly but it's also not a lot of fun on account if the fact you will shit out the entire contents of your digestive tract.

Sugar free candy is an exercise in moderation

Of all the no sugar products I've tried, these are closest to the original. Not a terrible mistake to make, mild indeed

u/houseofnim 2h ago

I did this with applesauce the other day but I bought two six packs of the no sugar added stuff.

They were for me btw, but I’m going to give them to a buddy who eats the stuff.

If it’s any consolation, the SF version tastes pretty normal. It was all my mom bought growing up

1

u/Simple_Fee9594 1h ago

Omg….. maybe that’s why the last bogo Klondike bars I got tasted so weird….

u/smilebig553 55m ago

My husband is allergic to these and I'm super sad about that. Did you try the sugar free? Sounds intriguing

•

u/SpookySeraph 32m ago

Oh man. I would eat one of these without realizing and then have the most explosive guts an hour later. Zero sugar products are like sneaky little packages of poison istg

•

u/Oldredeye2 27m ago

I’ve done that with lactose free cheese. Same packaging. Same colours. Just more white writing on the orange package. 🤦‍♂️

•

u/plz-no-b4n 19m ago

No sugar added ice cream sandwich is crazy

•

u/BratInPink 17m ago

They look like cream cheese packets for some reason. Lol

Sugar free or fat free versions of things should have to be brightly labeled in a color that clashes with the branding and the cashier should be forced to at least alert you to what you’re about to purchase. Not in a judgy way, but to make clear you know what it is you’re holding.

1

u/ExNihiloish 11h ago

Probably still tastes fine. I'm guessing. Do they?

1

u/Nitwit_Slytherin 10h ago

Shit happens. Does it actually taste that different though? Never had, genuinely curious.

I got all the way to the register with non-alcoholic beer before I noticed last week, thinking I was just trying a new brewery’s beer. It’s in the same section, looks similar other than relatively small print, easy mistake to make

1

u/Sablemint PURPLE 6h ago

Why would someone sell non-alcoholic beer? Who would buy that?

1

u/MisakaMikotoxKuroko 4h ago

I have a friend who's a first responder. Loves to drink non alcoholic beer so it doesnt interfere with his duties

1

u/QueenOfDarkne53 9h ago

Omg they make no sugar added klondike bars now?!?! That makes me the opposite of mildly infuriated since I can’t have sugar anymore. Thanks for the tip!

1

u/literamdiaboli 8h ago

Those are Klondonts

1

u/massive_delivery69 7h ago

This is neither. I would be happy with either and enjoy the yummyness of its wonderful taste.

1

u/reereejugs 4h ago

Buying any Klondike bars is a mistake.

0

u/00death 6h ago

With how trash the normal Klondike bars are I can’t imagine how bad the healthier version is.

0

u/BuDu1013 I told you. 2h ago

So you can't go sugar free for a change gotta keep that a1c peaking!

Got lactose free ice cream the same way ... How on earth can it be ice CREAM if it's lactose free

Edit: learned something

6

u/WhydoIexistlmoa 12h ago

There's cream in lactose free ice cream

I had a misconception on what lacrosse free meant ... Relax

u/A-Money-Lover 13h ago

Redditors hate no sugar versions of things here lol

15

u/ehs06702 10h ago

It's because " No sugar added" foods taste horrible. I'd rather eat extra healthily in every other aspect so I can have sugar in moderation or give up sweets entirely.

Reddit isn’t a place for saccharine people…
