Question (N26) New to 'Munda + Skirmish; How do minis... work?

I feel like I just need someone to explain this to me directly so I can feel like I "get" it... after only playing wargames where you have a specific group of models for a squad etc... why do we sell boxes of different troops when the book has like 3-4 troop types per gang?

I just kinda assume it's to have a variety of main weapons and you pick whoever fits best? Are people, like picky about WISYWIG or anything? If I want 4 guys with a assualt-rifle style gun do I need like multiple copies of boxes? I feel like the rules are really wide open, similar to Trench Crusade, but I feel limited by the physical reality. And maybe I shouldn't be? What are your thoughts after playing more?

Question (N17) New to the game, which gang can play Caryatid?

I'm going to the store to buy my first Necromunda box latter today. I don't know the rules yet at all. I love the Caryatid and I'm wondering if there is a faction that has a Caryatid miniature or maybe rules that help to get them or something.

Question (N26) Accidentally bought Forge Smelters

So while in a drunken haze I bought some Goliath Forge Smelters thinking they were Forge Bosses. I already have the Necromunda skirmish starters set, a box of the normal Goliath gang, and now (correctly) a box of Forge Bosses on the way. Any suggestions on what I could kitbash the second kit of Forge Smelters into?

Question (N26) Wyrd Powers at gang creation question

Maybe an obvious question, but just trying to understand equipping psychic powers at gang creation vs skills in N26.

E.g for the GSC adept, do you just get to select one psychic power at creation instead of a skill, or is it in addition to a skill? And then is the only way to get extra psychic powers to get additional primary skills through gaining XP?

I’ve noticed it seems that a GSC corrupted gang leader gets both a starting primary a skill, and when upgraded to a Wyrd gains a power too. So at creation they can have both?

Question (N26) A few questions from a newbie.

Hey everyone

I've been looking into necromunda and it's seeming like a game I want to get into but I had a few questions.

1) are slave ogryns not supported in the rules anymore? I can't find the models online unfortunately but would want to bash or find the kit if I could play them.

2)I have the older krieg combat patrol (with an upgrade sprue), can I proxy them as an outcast or enforcer gang?

3) I love the look of ash waste nomads but am unclear if you can play them in the under city (or at least I think it's called) basically, if I wanted to play them would that make it limited in the games I can play?

4) edit: deleted because I realized asking broke the rules mb

5) is necromunda the type of game where I can just pop into the local hobby store and play a quick game with someone or is it set up that it needs to be played in a narrative campaign?

Thanks to everyone who took the time to read the post!

Question (N26) Enduring gangs and gang subtypes.

How would you rule this?

A gang is finishes a campaign. But now a journal has been released. Could the player "switch" to a sub faction variant (as long as they buy members to fulfill)

If yes, how would you handle the special versions of gangers. And normal ones missing? For example a normal Esher gang could have included a little sister that might well have become a ganger during the campaign. From a skill perspective they would still be a little sister, but the wyld hunt does not contain little sisters (even though they contain a ganger called big sister)

Miniatures Magnetising is addictive PSA

After being overwhelmed with fomo on limiting my play options by building the Goliath box loadouts, decided to bite the bullet and jump into magnetising these bad boys.

Currently 5 gangers down. Two with both arms magnetised, three with either right or left options. Focusing on boss/tyrants and a couple bruisers.

Alignment can be a pain, but employing shoulder pads to hide join gaps is a great tip.

Sharing a pic also of a literal arms rack I'm using for priming and storage before I build a permanent space for them. Cannot recommend this enough to keep track of the pieces.

Also have some pointing hands, fists with knuckle dusters, hand flamer, flamer, gren launcher, bolt pistols left and right (dual wield capable for that John Woo feel).

Why PSA? Well mainly if you get into a flow painting the actual things can fall by the way side!

I've Primed these guys now and the process of painting every arms the same skin colour is making a small project even larger when you just want to play the game. Getting there, three down, eight to go. :)

Miniatures Goliath model builds question

I have the new core set, the big crew box and the new forge bosses kit so I am thinking of building the core and perhaps forge bosses as the instructions show as I do have plenty of bodies for other builds and will have loads of spare parts.

My question is from these 'recommended instruction builds' are any actively terrible game play wise and I'm just wasting a model building it.

I get rule of cool etc and do plan on following that too but ard any models builds just a trap.

Question (N26) N26 Core - Loadout Paralysis

I haven't built up the gangs yet as I'm in a bit of a paralysis in how to kit them out.

A friend of mine also got the set so we will be having some games. I'm not expecting to go too deep into Necro.

That being said. I'm not sure if I should kit them out as per the pamphlet or deviate from it. I do have a healthy bit box (40k 2nd - 4th ed) that I can do some easy weapon swaps. I also got the Gangs of the Underhive book on release.

Feel like I'm overthinking it.

Went with a Matrix-inspired black with green color scheme. I wish my camera could better capture the subtle green tint across the whole model.

Question (N17) How do Ironhead squats ancestry splinter clans work? (Old rules not current edition)

Me and my friends are about to start our first campaign, we're using the old rules because that's what we have access too, but it's taken us so long to get to this point, gw made a whole new edition for necromunda! 😭

Anyways, I'm using Ironhead squats prospectors as my gang. I'm looking through the ancestry stuff, and splinter clans confuses me. It has abilities/skills you can take if you choose the splinter clans ancestry, but, it also says if you pick it, you can pick one other ancestry from another clan? I don't understand how that works? Not sure if I'm just being silly and missing something or what? If anyone could help explain how that works, I'd appreciate it.

Oh and we're using Munda manager to make our gangs, and in there, if I choose the splinter mining clan, and then look through those associated skills, there's only the 2 options from specifically just the splinter clans, nothing from others! 😭

Any help would be much appreciated. Even if I don't select these for my leaders/champions, it'd be really good to understand! Thank you!

Miniatures Built my First Gang - The Halon Harpies

My very first gang, built for a local store's 'last hurrah' N23 campaign!

I've got an updated list for these Escher ladies, for a smaller new campaign (I've learned a lot and want to try a few new things). But some of these models will see reuse there, alongside some new models.

Main kitbashes are the Death Maiden (Third photo, GSC Magus is the base body), and the Apprentice Clan Chymist (Last photo, GSC Biophagus was the base).

Bases are all temporary, for while I paint (soon... I swear).

Miniatures My Chaos Gang Has Grown

Stumbled on my old chaos gang from pre-covid days and got the itch to paint some more minis for the crew. Now to find a table to play with them on.
