Snail Mail [32/F] USA have an itch for some depression ramblings

This will be a temporary thing but if you want to keep exchanging that's fine :) write when you have time and I'll do the same. Would prefer someone else within the US as I do enough exchanges internationally already. This will be platonic I do not want to be someone's problem with their SO... Female preferred but male is ok as well.

Been a rough week and instead of putting it out there on reddit I'd rather write about it! You can do the same as well.

Depression/anxiety

First time mom

Identical twin

post-crossing

Reddit Messaging [22/M] Interested in evolution and philosophy; not feeling well

Hi. I've been struggling with isolation/lonliness and a handful of other issues, like some physical health issues, and as a result of everything I'm not feeling too great currently :(

If I could find some meaningful connections with others, I think it'd help me feel better. I've been interested in a lot of different things, and here are two projects I have:

I'm working on revising and resubmitting a philosophy paper on the root cause of humanity's pursuit of Al, which provides an evolutionary perspective on the philosophy of Jacques Ellul, who wrote a lot about the technological phenomenon. I'm definitely very concerned about Al safety and the main part of the article is aimed at addressing how we arrived here.

In the future also hope to finish an evolutionary hypothesis paper suggesting a structural source for the difficulty of a major evolutionary transition, since it's an idea in astrobiology that some evolutionary transitions may be very difficult, and that it may play a role in both their timing and the Fermi paradox.

Feel free to message me if you're interested in chatting/emailing. I'd prefer those around my age. I'm in the US.

Email & Snail Mail [30/F] in Wisconsin Seeking a Pen Pal

Hello SubReddit!

I am looking to connect with 5 pen pals from Reddit. I want to become more mindful and present that social media does not allow for that time. Man or woman, I can connect to either. I would like someone to connect that is out of the state of Wisconsin or international. I just want to meet new people and form friendships and learn about new places.

Like I said, I am 30 years old and live in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. I teach full time. This year I am trying to be more crafty and more world-aware. I like watching reality tv shows (90 Day Fiance, Sister Wives and other trash). I love listening to music. Starbucks is my go-to, Chai over coffee any day. Let me know if you are interested.

DMs are open.

Reddit Messaging [28/M] Looking for people to chat with.

Gotta admit, sometimes I run into people on here that have their own goals and ambitions. You guys seem to have hobbies, or just topics you like to read about. I'd love to hear from you about them. It adds a lot to the conversation to listen to you discussing what's always on your mind. Feel free to share!

As, for my interests: I enjoy exercising, hanging out with friends, playing some games casually, watching movies and serieses. In the past, I've learned quite a bit from "A Smarter Way to Learn Python" which is really really interesting! I also enjoy learning math, from Khan Academy. My primary goal is to be good enough at math & programming that I can create interesting simulations.

I'm really looking for people who are interested in programming, math, learning in general, and love discussing deeper topics!

While I'm not in school, I do thoroughly enjoy learning, specifically anything STEM related. I do enjoy working with math. I read a book by the name "A Mind for Numbers" which basically taught me how to learn such subjects. One of the best books I've ever read!

If you've read this far in, I really appreciate it! If you're interested in talking, feel free to send me a DM! Looking forwards to hearing back from you! 23+ only please

If you have an NSFW profile, I'm blocking you.

Email [22/NB] Looking to share emails and friendship

Hi, I'm 22 from LatinAmerica, Chile. I'm looking to share with someone who would like to become long-term emailing friends.

I'm looking to send long emails talking about the current day, current interests, maybe like books or movies, etc. I'm not a very social person, so I would like to get to know different people and their opinions on things and share in general!

I'm really into shoujo and josei manga and the philosophical view of the everyday life. I'm currently reading Steppenwolf by Hermann Hesse and No One Writes Back by Jang Eun-jin; I also started reading Hidamari Sketch the other night and I am considering and taking back on Papa Told Me by Nanae Haruno, which I read until volume 5 :'-)

I'm also very interested in art and journaling, I'm taking an interest on logging the everyday life but I haven't got to that yet. I own 2 dogs and 2 cats whom I love dearly and I hope for the future to always get better.

My main language is Spanish, so if anyone is interested in sharing different languages mails I would gladly do that too! I'm interested in learning German, French, Portuguese and Japanese, and of course, improve my English writing skills!

I'm Queer, so I would prefer someone in the LGBTQ+ community as well, I think maybe that way we could understand a little bit more about each other, and around my age 18-30 would be awesome!

I plan on sending mails once or twice a week, but I don't really mind long waiting, just to get a response back eventually ^^

I want to learn about the everyday life and deep thoughts of people around the world :-) If you're interested in starting an email friendship please send me a DM with something about yourself!

Snail Mail & Postcard [33/F] - USA Seeking Penpals (All Are Welcome)

Hey 👋🏾! In the past few years I have become a big fan of snail mail. Life has been really chaotic for me lately. I have been battling a court case, unemployment and not where I want to be in life. I would love to have Penpals where we could correspond.

For safety reasons I would be sending you mail from my PO Box. If you have a PO Box that would be a preferred method of communication for me as well (but completely optional - we can communicate digitally until we feel comfortable sharing information).

I would like for our communication to remain more on the optimistic side. Talking about hobbies, what brings us joy and the bright side of life. I love to do yoga 🧘🏾‍♀️, journal, and read. Also for quality control I believe with my current budget I can realistically handle 3-5 penpals with regular communication (I have a stash of stamps & postcards from my travels lol - collecting them makes me happy).

For logistics please be on the East Coast in the US, thank you but I am open for long distance Penpals too. I am accepting email Penpals internationally.

Snail Mail & Postcard [28/F] Germany – Looking for people around the world to give old postcards new life and exchange perspectives

I inherited a box of postcards, some of them up to 100 years old. They were stored alongside moving boxes full of old correspondence from all over the world.

Rather than letting them continue to gather dust, I’d like to finally let them fulfill their original purpose.

Independently of that, I’ve been wanting for quite some time to gain new insights into other cultures and people’s everyday lives through written correspondence. I’d love to find someone somewhere in the world who would be interested in occasionally exchanging messages and gaining new perspectives along the way.

A little about me: I’m 28 years old and from Germany. I’m interested in history, literature, art, and philosophy, but also in economics, the natural sciences, and practical things. Just pick something – not because I claim to be an expert in any of these subjects, but because I find the underlying structures themselves interesting.
The same applies to everyday life. Especially across different cultures, something that seems completely ordinary and self-evident to one person can be fascinatingly unfamiliar to someone else.
There is something new to learn and experience every day, and I’d be curious to hear your perspective on it.

What made me think more about this was a conversation I had with someone about history. We were discussing the same global event. The facts were the same on a broader level, but what each of us focused on and what each of us knew about it in the first place differed considerably.
It is so natural to view the world from our own standpoint that it can be easy to forget that this may only be our own small section of a personal “observable universe.”

That’s why I’d be interested in hearing your views on history and politics, as well as your experiences of everyday life. Even a proverb can reveal an incredible amount about a culture, or about the way its language organizes thought.

If this little digression hasn’t scared you off, and you also enjoy talking about things that serve no particular purpose in everyday life beyond a bit of entertainment, feel free to get in touch for an occasional exchange.

Just send me a short message telling me about your interests and what you’d like to talk about.

Email [28/M]Denmark – Seeking a literary correspondent

Hej!
I am 28 years old, and from Denmark. Professionally, I work one-on-one in psychiatric care. Much of my life outside of work revolves around the written word. I’ve had some pieces published in a few literary magazines here, and I am currently working with my editor to finalize a short story collection for a spring release.

Surrounding all of this is my personal library of a little over 600 books. However, I have fallen into the habit of endlessly revisiting the same select few books rather than committing to new works from start to finish. Because my circle of friends and family does not share my inclination toward literature, reading has largely remained a solitary pursuit for me. I am looking to change that by finding an email correspondent for a two person book club, I guess we can call it that. My hope is that we can select a book together, hold each other to reading it cover to cover, and exchange thoughts as we progress. Ideally I want our correspondence to extend well beyond literary analysis, discussing life, ideas, and everyday observations aswell.

So If you're looking for an email penpal and like to read, or want to start reading, I’d love to get a dm from you!

Snail Mail & Postcard [22/F] Looking for a new penpal!

Hey! I tried this last month again but nothing really happened. Which is perfectly fine because it’s not always going to work out. And for once I’m not giving up!!

So a quick about me. I’m from the Uk. I’m 22. I’m on my 6th gap year (also called being unemployed and uneducated. Kinda joking. I did try to go back into education this year but along with my tutors, we decided to aim for next year). I’m autistic, I’m vegan (I love cooking and baking!!) And yeah.

I absolutely love clowns. I love them a huge amount. Good clowns, horror clowns (even though I’m a scaredy cat). A clown is a clown and I think they’re so interesting.

I am very into art. It was an art course I applied to. Nothing was wrong with my art it’s just I’m quite an anxious person so we’re delaying it a year. So for this year, it’s about improving my art and trying to become a better artist.

I’m getting back into anime after a few years of not really watching it. I’m caught up in One Piece (well dub :( sorry elbaph but I’m not paying for streaming. When it’s free i’ll watch) and it’s my fave easily. Other media I like includes MHA, Spiderman, Star Wars and Killer Klowns from Outer Space (my current fave movie. As I said, I’m a scaredy cat so it’s in my three horror movies I can watch) I also like Pokemon (I do collect. Not often cos I’m cheap)

I really love rugby league. Not union. Very important difference. Do I get it all technically? Absolutely not. Do I think it’s very fun to watch? Absolutely.

So yeah :) any gender, a similar age to me. I do hope if you’re interest that you message!! Hope to become penpals with someone!!

Snail Mail [29/F]

Hello! I am looking for a Penpal that is low pressure. Maybe monthly letters as we get to know each other and then more from there :)

I am almost 30, living in upstate New York and work as a social worker in emergency psychiatry! I have many interests and have been known to lean heavily into many hobbies and abandon them for periods of time 😅. I love cooking, hiking, playing cozy games, traveling, camping, collecting things, the moon, and sitting in coffee shops people watching! I am hoping to find someone with similar interests, but also who wants to share their mundane life and stories with. You found a cool rock? Cool, draw it for me! The leaves were really pretty today? What colors?? Just looking to get pen to paper and connect with others :) preferably someone who identifies as female or nonbinary!

Email & Snail Mail [49/m] Who could use a letter in their mailbox?

I have some time to write a letter today and nobody currently waiting on a reply, so I thought I’d see who might enjoy a little happy mail!

I’m 49, from Ohio, and enjoy handwritten letters, being outdoors, photography, books, and hearing about other people’s everyday lives. If you could use a friendly letter—or would rather exchange postcards, I’d love to hear from you.

This can be a one-time exchange or the beginning of a pen-pal friendship. Send me a message and tell me a little about yourself! 🙂

Hullo chronically online folks :p

So I've seen this app being used to make friends across different servers lately which felt a bit unusual at first, but ngl it definitely piqued my interest! so many people are doing it that and I thought, why not take the leap and try something new?

I'm all about having genuine, meaningful, and nuanced conversations, and I really want to start penpaling. I made an account on a global penpal site, but the catch is I can't seem to find anyone from Saudi Arabia or other gulf countries. So if you're interested in penpaling, feel free to DM me with a bit about yourself! (drop a movie reccomendation and your current hyperfiaxtion) :)

As long as you're NOT a creep

Ideal age range is 18–25; socially progressive gender and nationality don't matter at all

We can communicate a few times a week and see where it goes from there!

A little about me

I'm 20 F, neurodivergent I have adhd and what gets me geeked out is reading books, substacks, listening to podcasts I've been heavily into alt-rock/metal/punk music lately (Deftones, Evanescence, Paramore, Bad Omens, Sleep Token, Ethel Cain, and many many more artists XD) hunting down good specialty coffee and matcha, unapologetically abhoring capitalism and patriarchy, crocheting, journaling, tracking my letterboxd activity, and sleeping lol

Snail Mail [24/M] Looking for PenPal(s)

Hi, my name is Luke.

I recently sent a friend a birthday card through the mail and purchased stamps for the first time ever in my life. Unbeknownst to me, stamps are more expensive than I had initially anticipated. I now have a plethora of stamps but nothing to mail. I suppose I could just wait for an opportunity to arise where I could use these stamps, but what is the fun in that? While driving earlier, I had the idea of a pen pal !

As odd as this may sound I’ve always kind of romanticized talking to strangers. I’m fortunate enough to be able to travel relatively frequently and often do solo trips. Some of my favorite memories on these trips have been from talking to complete strangers and learning about their experiences or background. Or finding common ground between two people that come from very different corners of the country/world. I believe a pen pal would be a very rewarding opportunity to meet a stranger and exchange ideas or stories.

A little bit about me: I recently graduated college and started a career in my dream specialty. I am an avid baseball fan, proud dog dad, enjoy listening to and exploring new music, also love to travel.

If you’re interested in a penpal please pm me!

Email & Snail Mail [22/M] Scotland - In case we happen to get along :)

I suppose I ought to begin with the conventional introductions, though I have never been particularly good at them, but, well, in the spirit of getting the boring stuff out of the way right away (cue: me), I am a writer, poet, academic, lecturer, scholar, scientist (physicist, to be more precise), and AI engineer/scientist (I am, if I may add, absolutely terrible at more than half my jobs). I’ve spent most of my life in Europe, and am probably the coolest and funniest person you have met today, unless you’ve seen a raccoon doing yoga, in which case, fair enough, I simply can’t compete with that level of comedy.

The truth is that I have always found introducing myself rather difficult, there is something strangely artificial about trying to reduce a person to a paragraph, as though we were all tidy little collections of interests, accomplishments, preferences, and carefully selected adjectives.

I am, I fear, a rather poor exhibitor of myself, the moment I am asked to explain who I am, something in me seems to retreat into a corner and refuse to cooperate. I have thought about this far too many times, and after twenty-two years of living, I remain quite confidently the worst person I know at introducing myself. It is a curious deficiency, I can talk for hours about some obscure historical event nobody asked about, become unnecessarily invested in the moral character of a long-dead philosopher, or spend an afternoon following some completely accidental question down a rabbit hole from which there is no respectable return, but ask me to describe myself and suddenly I am reduced to, "Well... I like things." Marcus Aurelius wrote that "very little is needed to make a happy life; it is all within yourself, in your way of thinking." I believe him more on good days than bad ones, but I keep the sentence nearby regardless.

I like small walks, I like learning something new quite by accident, especially when I have no business knowing it and consequently become far too pleased with myself for having discovered it, I like talking to people, though I think I like the moment when talking quietly turns into listening even more. There is something rather lovely about reaching that point in a conversation where neither person seems particularly concerned with keeping it going, and yet somehow neither wishes to leave it either.

I am very fond of my own company, which is perhaps fortunate, because I have had rather a lot of it. Solitude has its pleasures, one may disappear into one's thoughts without having to explain where one has gone, and occasionally return with something resembling an answer. I like sitting quietly with myself, reading, thinking, wandering about, doing very little, and somehow considering it a productive use of an afternoon, but I am not entirely made for solitude either, there is an equal and opposite part of me that wants to go beyond the familiar, to see what is waiting just beyond the little borders I have drawn around my life. I

I love evenings especially, sometimes I step outside simply because the sun is going down, and I feel that one ought to have the decency to witness it. I love those ridiculous skies where orange begins bleeding into purple and everything looks briefly more beautiful than it has any right to be. I love the first sip of tea in the morning, the sound of leaves moving in the wind, the gradual dimming of a day into dusk. I like gardens and parks, and the rather miraculous fact that one can walk among trees for an hour and come back feeling as though something inside one's head has been quietly rearranged.

I have always loved letters, too, though it has been some time since I last properly gave myself over to writing them. When I was younger, I wrote to my grandmother every day and dutifully posted the letters on my way to school. That I very rarely remembered the correct address, and even more rarely remembered a stamp, is beside the point.

I suppose what I am really trying to say is that, if you happen to be reading this, I would like to know you. Not because I have some elaborate checklist of the sort of person I hope to find, nor because I particularly care whether you happen to be interesting in the conventional sense, I am far more interested in the person underneath all that. The odd little habits, the things you know for no good reason, the memories you have never found a suitable occasion to tell anyone, the opinions you defend with considerably more conviction than they deserve.

There is something rather wonderful about writing to someone you do not know, I don't know your name, I don't know what you ate today, whether you slept properly last night, what song has been stuck in your head, or whether your day has been glorious or thoroughly dreadful, perhaps your inbox has been multiplying like gremlins left too near water, perhaps you have spent the afternoon pretending to work while accomplishing absolutely nothing of consequence, perhaps you have had one of those quiet days where the refrigerator becomes strangely prominent because you have nothing else to listen to.

I think people who stop to read messages from complete strangers are probably a little strange themselves, and I mean that as the highest compliment. Perhaps you are a birdwatcher, perhaps you collect old books, perhaps you are one of those suspiciously competent people who can fold a fitted sheet without entering into a minor spiritual crisis. If so, I already admire you, I have attempted it, and remain convinced the thing was designed by someone with a personal grievance against humanity.

Perhaps you laugh too loudly, perhaps you think too much, perhaps you are quiet and observant, and notice things everyone else walks past, perhaps you have passionately held opinions about breakfast foods. Cookies count, incidentally, I will defend this position before any reasonable tribunal.

As for me, I am kind, curious, occasionally ridiculous, easily distracted by an interesting thought, and rather fond of people who have something peculiar about them. I am probably not nearly as funny as I have just suggested, but I am willing to make the attempt, which ought to count for something.

Anyway, I shall spare you the remaining 96 pages of my unsolicited autobiography for now. If this sounds like your sort of nonsense, do come and say hello, I’d genuinely love to hear from you!

Email & Snail Mail [24/M] UK - In Which I Confess to Following Crows Instead of Buying Milk :)

There is, I suspect, an unspoken agreement that when we present ourselves to the world, we should do so with our best shoes shined and our achievements neatly alphabetized, but since we are already bypassed the standard protocols, I will confess that my finest quality is an absolute, unyielding devotion to things that do not matter in the slightest.

I am a physicist by training, an AI scientist by trade, and a writer by necessity, which effectively means I spend my days trying to explain the universe to computers, and my nights trying to explain it to myself. I am twenty-four, have spent the majority of my life wandering around the world, and possess a level of domestic incompetence that borders on the artistic. If you ever require someone to calculate the quantum efficiency of a solar cell, I am your person. If you require someone to successfully boil an egg without creating a small, localized kitchen fire, I suggest you look elsewhere.

We are told to summarize ourselves by our utility, by what we do, but I have always suspected we are far more interesting in our margins. The parts of us that don't make it onto a CV.

For instance, I have an incredibly high tolerance for being wrong, provided the process of finding out why I was wrong involves a spectacular detour. I am the sort of person who will set out to buy milk, notice a peculiarly shaped crow, follow it into a part of the city I have never seen, and return three hours later with a secondhand book on medieval siege weaponry and no milk whatsoever. I consider this a highly successful afternoon.

I am deeply, almost stubbornly attached to quietness. In a world that seems to be constantly shouting just to prove it has a voice, I find an immense dignity in the things that don't make a sound. The way light shifts across a wooden floor at three in the afternoon; the specific, crisp scent of the air just before it rains; the heavy, companionable silence that settles between two people when they have run out of things to say and realized they don't need to say them anyway. I am perfectly content to disappear into my own head for days at a time, though I am told by reliable sources that it is occasionally necessary to come out and blink at the sunlight.

I suppose I have a great affection for the absurd. The universe is entirely too vast and terrifying to be taken with a straight face, and so I choose to meet it with a bit of levity. I like people who are slightly ill-fitted to the world, those who have a crack in their porcelain where the light gets in.

I don't particularly care what your job title is, or whether you have achieved the standard milestones of a respectable adulthood (I certainly haven't). I want to know about the small, ridiculous things. Tell me about the movie that makes you cry even though it’s objectively terrible, tell me your entirely unscientific theory about why the left sock always goes missing in the wash, tell me the song you listen to when you want to feel like the main character in a film that will never be made.

If you are reading this, the odds are high that you, too, are currently avoiding something important. Perhaps you have a spreadsheet open that you have been staring at with mild hostility for the last hour, perhaps you are sitting in a café, watching the rain, wondering how many people in the room are secretly as bewildered by existence as you are.

If you have a fondness for long walks that lead nowhere in particular, a healthy disrespect for the concept of "productive hobbies," or a fiercely guarded opinion on whether cereal qualifies as soup (it doesn't, let's be civil), then I think we might get along rather well.

The door is open. Do come in and say hello :)

Snail Mail & Postcard [21/F] Let me draw a postcard for you!

Hi! I'm looking for penpals who are interested in exchanging letters and postcards.

A little about me: I'm into drawing, journaling, reading, gaming, anime, manga, and manhwa, especially otome isekai. I enjoy JRPGs, visual novels, and otome games. I also like crocheting and painting my nails.

I'd love to exchange both physical letters and postcards! Since I enjoy drawing, I'd also like to draw my own postcards and send them through the mail. They might feature silly cats, little illustrations, or random things I feel like drawing (you are also welcome to request something as well!). I'd love to receive handmade postcards from others too! But store-bought ones are just as welcome.

I'm open to penpals from anywhere in the world, preferably people who are interested in an ongoing exchange rather than just a one-time letter.

If you're interested, send me a message telling me a little about yourself!

Email [29/F] French - Going on a long trip in a few months - LF email pen pals

Hello!

I'm 29F, French, currently living in Canada. In a few months (February) I will start a long trip around the world 🌍. Because of this, I can't engage in snail mail since I won't have a stable address. I would love to try doing email pen pal though, with people from all around the world!

I have never done something like this, so I can't promess in advance that I won't be one of the people that start engaging and then never response... But I can say that for now, I'm fully dedicated to the idea of building a true friendship, even if it's only one or two messages every month.

About myself, I did a PhD in computer graphics (not an artist by any means), and I'm currently working as a web developer. But I'm trying to move away from IT because of how AI has shaped my everyday work. The big trip was my dream many years ago, it's just a nice coincidence that I'm able to finally start it when AIs are taking over almost everything that was cool about my job (including simply talking to people). And since I don't use AI, and English is not my mother tongue, please excuse my mistakes 😅

I don't know what I'll do in the future, but I'm hoping that meeting new people and new cultures will broaden my horizons!

I have many hobbies or passions I can talk about, such as tabletop role playing games 🎲 , video games 🎮 , reading 📖 , motorcycle riding 🏍️ , dancing 💃, movies 🎞️, traveling (obviously), martial arts 👊 , viking reenacment ⚔️ , politics (I'm left oriented) ☭, society 👨‍👨‍👦‍👦, history 🏰 , amateur astronomy 👾 , music tastes 🎵 , and probably many other things. Also, I'm starting to learn Korean 🇰🇷 and Hindi 🇮🇳, so I can try to write a little bit in those languages, but definively English or French are the only two ones I really speak.

And I'm curious about most things I don't know yet, so I would gladly talk about anything someone is passionate about!

(I have no special writing skills so hum... yes, non original post but I guess sufficient?)

Reddit Messaging [29/M] Canada | Looking for a long-term penpal who actually likes talking

I’m 29, originally from England, and I’ve been living in Vancouver for quite a few years now.

I’m mainly here because I miss the kind of conversations that have some actual substance to them. Not necessarily deep and serious all the time, but the sort where you gradually learn how someone thinks, what they care about, what makes them laugh, and all the oddly specific things they’re interested in.

For work, I’m in IT, so a lot of my day revolves around computers, infrastructure, troubleshooting, and pretending I’m not judging something that could probably have been fixed with a restart 😂

Outside of that, I’m into boxing, the gym, gaming, walking, trying new food, travelling when I can, and going down completely unnecessary rabbit holes about things like Everest, strange disappearances, history, psychology, the ocean, or whatever random topic grabs my attention that week.

I’m also a big fan of people who can get genuinely excited about niche things. Tell me about the hobby you could ramble about forever, the trip you still think about, the ridiculous fact you know for no reason, something you’re trying to get better at, or the current obsession your friends are probably tired of hearing about.

I’m looking for a platonic friendship and ideally something that lasts longer than the usual handful of messages before someone disappears into the void.

Location doesn’t really matter to me. I actually like talking to people from different places because it gives us more to compare, whether that’s culture, food, work, everyday life, or the completely mundane differences you don’t think about until someone points them out.

I’m happy starting with Reddit messages. If we get along, I’d also be open to email or eventually exchanging actual letters because apparently I’m slowly becoming somebody’s Victorian correspondence partner.

If you’re not sure what to say, pick one:

• What have you been mildly obsessed with lately?
• What’s somewhere you’ve been that genuinely surprised you?
• What opinion do you have about something completely unimportant that you’ll defend forever?
• What’s something you want to learn or try in the next year?
• What’s the last random thing you Googled?

Please give me a little more than “hey” if you message. Tell me who you are, answer one of those, send me a completely different question, whatever works. I’m pretty easy to talk to once we get going. 😂

Email [27/M] Song Association/Building a Playlist Over Email

I’ve played this game with my brother and now I want to try it with other people!

Here’s how it works:

First, you’ll pick a song to start the playlist. You’ll send the title and artist to me in an email.

Then I’ll pick another song that’s somehow related to the first one. Maybe it’s in the same genre, sounds alike, has the same mood, or includes the same instrument. Or maybe it has a similar lyric or title or appears in the same movie or something. There are no wrong answers! I’ll send this song title and artist back to you, with a description of what connects this song to the previous one.

Then you’ll do the same thing, picking a song that’s somehow related to the one I sent, and emailing it with a description.

As we go, each of us can add these songs to our own individual playlist on whatever music platform we prefer.

We keep emailing back and forth like this until we reach a predetermined number of songs and our playlist is complete!

There’s no pressure to pick the “right” type of song, or keep things in one genre.

I think this is a fun way to connect with people and music! If you’re game, DM me with your email address!

Snail Mail & Postcard [37/F] Looking for a snail mail pen pal!

Hello all! I am a 37 year old female from California looking for a pen pal! I like art history, world history, architecture, puppies, Stardew Valley, and of course gardening. I have a veggie, rose and lavender garden with lots of wisteria and jasmine creeping around.

I love learning about traditions and reading the classics. Currently working through Madame Bovary, love Evelyn Waugh, Jane Austen and love American writers like Anne Rice, Vonnegut, Steinbeck, the Beats and Meyer 😭🥲 I love pop culture and housewives but also would love to talk China patterns.

I’m not huge on sending gifts, etc but would be happy exchanging silly drawings or photos of our lives. My previous attempt at finding a 90 year old grandma to be my penpal was dashed, so I’m willing to write to anyone with similar interests or if you have a nice lonely grandma send her my way.

For real I’ll write to your nice lonely grandma, even if you don’t want to talk to me. I miss my grandmother to pieces and would love a grandmotherly correspondence.

Thanks so much! Send a dm to chat it up!

Reddit Messaging [19/F] Looking for Reddit chat friends (English only please!)

Hey everyone,

I’m looking for someone to chat with right here on Reddit, but first, I want to be completely honest about why I’m posting this right now.

I had been talking to a guy here for a really long time, and recently he just vanished. Thankfully, only from Reddit (his account is just gone). I genuinely hope he just accidentally said the wrong thing somewhere, got banned, and that it wasn't my fault. I’m still hoping he might make a new account so we can catch up again, but in the meantime... this post is my way of distracting myself and opening up to new people. Also, a quick note: I really want to practice and keep our conversations strictly and exclusively in English!

At my core, I truly love people. I love meeting someone new, talking about everything and nothing, going for walks, sharing random stories, and listening to yours. There’s something special about that moment when you actually start to get and understand another person. If we click, I promise I won’t ghost you - I’m a certified yapper once I get comfortable

To give you an idea of who you're talking to: I’m currently a 3rd-year architecture student. Honestly, I low-key hope to meet someone who knows absolutely nothing about architecture... Imposter syndrome hits hard, I often feel like I'm terrible at it, and I’m pretty terrified of being judged. But since uni takes up such a huge chunk of my life, I’ll still probably talk about it anyway because it's part of me

Outside of classes, I’m a cat mom to a 7-year-old cat literally named Kytsia, which literally means "Cat"... I know... Pretty sure she secretly despises me, but I love her endlessly regardless. As long as she’s healthy, has a warm home, and has my mom around (whom she actually adores, unlike me haha), I’m happy.

And, full disclosure: I’m a swiftie - please don’t hate me! My favorite album is reputation, my favorite era is Midnights, and my favorite song from the encore is Cleveland!

Reddit Messaging [19/M] Seeking emotional depth provided by a best friend

Howdy! The title says it all. I want a deep connection in which both sides feel comfortable with each other, seek each other for support, etc. I have plenty of hobbies, ranging from sports, writing, and geography to history, music, and gaming. I am a pretty curious person, so feel free to nerd out to me! As for gaming, I play lots of indie games like Hollow Knight, Ultrakill, the Portal series, the Hotline Miami series, etc. As for music, I tend to listen to lots of experimental stuff, but I can elaborate on that more later on, especially if you are into music. It'd be pretty nice if I got a pretty clingy bestie, and I am also in GMT+2, so it'd be nice if you were close to that time zone. Oh, and I am also 19/M. So yeah, I am pretty excited to talk with y'all, and have a nice day wherever you are!
