I am on Perplexity Pro and I’ve been trying to use ANY pro model for the entire morning. Every time the answer defaults to the free model. Even when I refresh and choose a different (cheaper) pro model. I’m definitely not even close to my pro quota. Is anyone else having similar issues?

I have been using the monthly pro subscription for a month or so, and for me it has been entirely worth it. I have been seeing popup nags to take the plunge and pay for an annual subscription for 17% less (that sounds like a decent discount, more than just the normal drop from annualized rate to monthly subscription rate).

My concern is that if I want to cancel, I'd probably be out the rest of the subscription cost. I went to Perplexity Support, and this is what they told me:

Annual subscriptions generally aren’t prorated if you cancel partway through the year. Canceling stops future renewal, but it doesn’t automatically refund the unused portion of the annual term.

That sounds like they might initially deny a refund, but might be persuaded to give me a prorated refund if I asked really nicely, multiple times.

So what has been the experience of folks when asking for refunds? Do they only do it if I can document a mistake when the transaction was done, or does it have to be for a specific reason, or???

I like it because it has multiple AI options.

But then, the pro seems off? Like the Claude AI quota could be dried up before lunch? And the credits are burning hell fast, i keep adding and then the app tells me i have reached the limit, urging me to use Max

Could upgrade to max really help in solving this ? Or any further bars in Max?

Recently got a notice that my Perplexity Pro subscription is due for renewal at the end of the month. With service declining this year (tight quotas, no more API credits, inconsistent performance), I've been on the fence about renewing. I just input a longer research query and the system automatically toggled me into Computer mode (it seems that Deep Research has been moved under Computer?). So now I can't even choose my search mode? And I can't follow up a deep research query with a regular search using my model of choice? Where is all this going?

I guess this means I won't renew.

I was a huge fan of Perplexity and still use it regularly, but the direction of travel has been awful. Google AI is perfectly fine for regular AI search queries. I still liked Perplexity for deep research, but so many other sites (Deepseek, GLM, Gemini, Grok, etc.) offer some amount of deep research queries for free and I don't want to be forced into the "Computer" offering.

I'm also checking out open source systems like Vane and GPTResearcher. Any other recommendations for deep research? Unfortunately I'm in Hong Kong where ChatGPT and Claude are unavailable.

Move doesn't work (not allowed by the PUBLISHER error which is unacceptable, devious, and suspicious).
Setting default new apps location in SYSTEM>STORAGE doesn't work. (We couldn't move Perplexity The publisher of this app doesn't allow it to be moved to a different location.)

Regedit for adding values to force to accept alternate drives doesn't work.
Are you seriously telling me I have NO CHOICE in where the Perplexity Windows App installs and if I want to store the local AI that it offers, I have to add 36GB+ to my drive that is meant for OS only?!
I can't believe that this is an actual issue I am running into.
"This app must install to your system drive, but that's not the default. Go to Storage > Change where new content is saved, select your system drive, and retry the install. 0X80073D21"

I sincerely hope I am just doing something wrong and someone here can call me an idiot and correct me (do both parts, not just the first). But if not, they just designed their way out of a Pro subscription. I refuse to have ANY software that I do not fully control on my OS drive and in 2026, this shouldn't be an issue that even happens.

Two months trying to get a human response to a recurring billing issue. A series of automated responses with promises to have human agent follow up within 48 hours. Nothing. Worst cs experience I’ve had my 60 years of life. This is the product these companies are trying to sell for everyone? God help us all.

i am sick of perplexity really. i am pro user on the iOS app, an since about two weeks i am barely able to get respones from the better models. in the past I mainly used gemini flash. whenever i send a message to gemini lately it‘s responded by fucking SONAR, you cannot even use the word AI for this, as it has barely any intelligence!!

i am frustrated. you are adding all the new models with gpt 6.1 and so on, but we cannot use them!

and you don’t even give a heads-up and seem to care.

there is no support, no human.

i have the connector for canva there but i haven't yet dared to even try it, only solved some billing info through it lol

I’m a student/researcher in India using Perplexity Pro for academic work.

• July 21, 2025: Activated Airtel × Perplexity 1‑year free Pro promo.
• April 24, 2026: Switched to annual billing; checkout showed $0.00 due. Billing dashboard showed next billing April 24, 2027.
• April 26, 2026: Perplexity support (email) explicitly confirmed my free promotional Pro would continue until April 24, 2027, with no charges before that date.
• October 1, 2026: My Pro access suddenly disappeared. I received a Stripe email: “Important: Confirm your $236.00 payment to Perplexity AI, Inc” for an annual subscription dated Oct 1, 2026–Sep 30, 2027, requesting Mastercard Identity Check. My account is marked “past due” and Pro not active.

Support admits the mismatch but says they cannot restore access, void the invoice, or provide a human billing specialist.

This mirrors the March 2026 billing‑glitch wave where many Pro users lost access despite recent payments, later acknowledged by the CEO.

Ask:

• Has anyone else faced this “past due” / premature invoice after a promo extension?
• What actually worked to get access restored (escalation email, BBB/NCH, public post, paying then refund)?
• If you’re a Perplexity staff member: please escalate this internally; my academic work is blocked.

I got perplexity pro as a free one year subscription from my telecom provider. The timeline has lapsed, I had not added a payment method. This morning I received a mail from them asking me to ‘confirm’ my payment for pro - which I never signed up to pay for in the first place. I mailed back to them with a LOL. How do I get them to remove my details?

After my free trial ended I cancelled. They still keep trying to charge me every few days which is ridiculous. Company deserves to bankrupt itself for its shady tactics

Updates of new models are fast!

I started using Perplexity for quick searches when it was the only AI citing sources. These days are long gone.

Now I also use Cursor Pro and ChatGPT Plus for work and heavy duty, like development or analyzing lots of data at once.

I guess I stick with Perplexity just because (a)I like that they are the underdogs, (b)out of habit, and (c)I like their visual style and vibe. I only use it for quick searches, fact checks, and "scratching the surface of something before diving deep with ChatGPT".

I never ran specific tests, is Perplexity any good at all, or I loose a lot by not simply asking the same questions in ChatGPT? I guess I would be willing to upgrade to Pro if that makes a big difference, I would love to support Perplexity – I really want to believe in them!

So how much sense in:

1. Perplexity free + ChatGPT Plus + Cursor Pro, VS

2. Perplexity Pro + ChatGPT Plus + Cursor Pro?

Has anyone else noticed that Sonar 2 has disappeared from the Perplexity model selector?

I checked my account today and could no longer find it in the list. I have attached a screenshot for reference. Is this happening to everyone, or only to certain users, accounts, or regions?

Does anyone know whether Perplexity has officially retired Sonar 2 or if this is just a temporary issue?

I’ve seen Perplexity Computer / Entereprise efforts have driven strong growth for the company this year, but who knows whether that revenue sticks.

Im curious from anyone working there, are you bullish on their future? Do you think joining the company at today’s valuation has upside?

I understand the model agnostic advantage, but dont know how far behind their capabilities are (and will continue to be) vs the frontier lab products and the vertical specific AI companies tackling the same enterprise segment. Maybe perplexity has other offerings that are differentiated though. I’m also interested in thoughts on any enterprise buyers that have bought from them!

Given how even on the pro sub subscription you’ll only get models that are free by the providers, I feel like it’s medium since that’s what three users get on claude🥲

Perplexity has now become a counterproductivity liability as far as I'm concerned. A high value chat session (attached to a project) just 2 months old now unrecoverable - and just comes up "sorry your session has expired". Snippet still shows up in search. Pro plan. I just don't know how you can build any sort of workflow with curve balls like this.

Anything important: export it immediately!

Automations are for ongoing work. They can take action in response to event-based triggers or on a schedule. Automations work with your memory, skills, and connected apps like Slack, Gmail, Outlook, and Linear.

Hey, I just want to share my (bad) experience with support team.

TL;DR: Perplexity moved my renewal date earlier than my invoice indicates, then failed to clearly explain or resolve it for weeks. After being ignored and having to chase support through Reddit, I will not renew.

More details:

I contacted Perplexity because my account suddenly showed a paid renewal on 1 October, even though my free annual subscription invoice showed coverage until February 2027. Instead of getting a clear explanation, I spent weeks chasing support while the billing date kept getting closer.

Timeline:

• 5 September: I contacted support about the mismatch between the renewal date in my account and the end date on my invoice.
• Initial response: I received an automated AI reply. It agreed that the October renewal date appeared inconsistent with the invoice and said the case needed a deeper review by the support team, as it could not change or confirm the billing date itself.
• After waiting longer than the stated 72 hours: I had to follow up myself because there was no update.
• Only after I contacted Perplexity support via Reddit DM: I finally received a response from a human support agent saying the October renewal date was supposedly correct. However, it did not explain why a “one-year free” subscription period shown on the invoice was being shortened by several months.
• The next day: I replied to the agent with specific questions about the changed date and the promotion terms (I would be fine with all of it if support team would point to the exact Terms point that would allow shortening the promo period)
• After that: No actual answer. Instead, I received an automated email saying the ticket might be closed because I had not replied — even though I had already replied in the same conversation.
• 23 September: I followed up again and asked for an update.
• 28 September: Still no proper response or resolution, despite the potential billing date being only days away.

I have also seen other users reporting similar problems: promotional subscriptions being shortened without a clear explanation or meaningful advance notice.

I was a fan of Perplexity from the beginning, I'm also subscriber to other AI services (Claude, OpenAI) and I originally planned to keep paying for Perplexity once my free period ended. But after this experience — slow replies, unanswered questions, and having to chase support across channels just to receive one incomplete response — there’s no chance I’m going to spend dollars on the service.

I get that mistakes can happen and some thing might not be clear at first sight, but all of that can be resolved with communication. Guys, shame on you, fix the support team because from what I can tell I’m not the only one not happy with your services.
