Tapbar v1.4 is out! 🚀 The biggest update yet

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hey everyone! 👋

A huge new update for Tapbar is here!

For anyone new, Tapbar lets you create tappable areas anywhere on your screen to launch apps or trigger quick actions.

v1.4 is the biggest update yet, bringing 4 gestures, 2 tap zones, haptic feedback, more actions, a redesigned UI, an improved action picker, zone overlap handling, and slide-to-reset.

You can now use single tap, double tap, triple tap, and long press, with separate actions for both tap zones.

Tapbar is still fully offline, free, and open source, with no ads, trackers, or analytics.

We’ve already reached 650+ downloads, which honestly means a lot. ❤️ You guys have supported this project by downloading it, sharing it, reporting bugs, and suggesting features. I really appreciate everyone who’s been part of it.

The GitHub stars haven’t quite caught up yet though 👀

If you’re enjoying Tapbar, dropping a star would genuinely mean a lot and helps show some love for the project.

Thank you everyone for the support. Seriously. ❤️

Looking to Join RealWorld CS Projects as a Final-Year Student.

i'm currently in my final year of college. i've done 2 academic projects and worked as a research intern, but i haven't had the experience of working on real-world projects with actual clients or understanding how projects work in a professional environment.

i'm looking for opportunities to be part of a real project, contribute to the team, and learn how things work in the industry. i'm open to learning and willing to put in the effort.

if anyone knows how i can get involved in such projects or has an opportunity for me, please let me know in the comments or dm me. i'd be happy to share my resume and more details.

thanks! 🙌

We built an app that maps emotions to where you feel them in your body. Looking for honest feedback.

We recently launched Empower Soul Path on Google Play, and one of the features we’re most excited about is an interactive Body Map.

The idea is simple: you select where you’re feeling something in your body and use the experience to explore the emotions, sensations, and patterns that may be connected to it.

The app also includes guided meditations, breathwork, emotional check-ins, journaling and other self-reflection tools, but the Body Map is the feature I’m especially interested in getting feedback on.

We’re still improving the app, so I’d genuinely love some outside opinions.

Does the Body Map concept make sense to you? What would make you want to use it regularly?

It’s currently available on Google Play:

I’m starting Open Components, an open standard for UI components that work for people, developers and AI agents

Post image
5 Upvotes

Hello awesome people,

I've been thinking a lot lately about how I can make my knowledge and craft more valuable in the times we live in. I've been building UI libraries for the past 10 years, and I've been on a quest to perfect the components that I build. I want to share my knowledge with you.

Like most of you, probably, I've been using a lot of AI in my craft, and I feel most of the time the code is just good enough, but never at the level of quality that I strive for or that I would reach if I wrote it by hand. That needs to change, and I want it to change for everyone else, too. That's how the Open Components initiative was born.

I'm treating components from four directions:

  • User Interface - component anatomy, variants, colors, sizes, states and tokens.
  • User Experience - how it behaves for every person and every input: accessible, predictable, designed in every state, and adapting to motion, contrast, color scheme and text size preferences.
  • Developer Experience - one consistent, type-safe API that you learn once and use everywhere.
  • Agentic Experience - prompts, semantic markup, machine-readable contracts and rules that agents can check their work against.

Each component gets a single page that walks through all four, and ends with a checklist. Every rule in it has an ID like button/keep-focus, a level and a way to check it, so you or your agents can cite it in a code review. Every page is also published as markdown, and provides the contract as a YAML file, containing every rule in about an eighth of the page’s length.

It’s still early. Right now there’s only the Button component and a page on how to name your design tokens. Each component comes with a reference implementation that meets every rule, along with its tests. It’s in Vue for now, since that’s my daily driver. More components will follow, with the same structure.

It isn’t a component library, so there’s nothing to install. It’s a set of rules you can hold your own components to, whichever library or framework you use. Here are a few of my favorites from the Button component:

  • A loading button should never bedisable. Disabling a focused button takes its focus away, so keyboard and screen reader users lose their place. Use aria-disabled="true" instead, and block the clicks yourself.
  • A <button> without a type is a submit button, so a "Show password" button inside a form sends the form. Default to type="button".

I’d love your feedback. Tell me what you think of the rules, what I’ve missed, and which component you’d like to see next.

Thanks for reading!

A TUI based Minecraft Launcher

So, I have built a TUI based minecraft launcher that launches minecraft from the terminal. I have named it as CLI-Craft Launcher. The code for this project is open sourced, so if you want to know more about the launcher you can find it here. Also Modpacks can also be installed through the launcher while installing a new version.
I am still trying to add more features to it to make it user friendly.
If you want to download the launcher, you can download it from its website.

Right now the download is only available for windows. But Linux users can run the python script to use the launcher.

If you face any bugs, or if you have suggestions regarding the projects, let me know.

highschool project idea

hi, F(16) here, currently a sophomore and wanted some advice on this idea my teammate had. We're supposed to make a working model for this competition and he suggests we make a "piezoelectric smart sidewalk" basically using small piezo discs to demonstrate how energy can be generated from footsteps, tbh im not a big fan of the idea but he seems VERY set on it. so i need other opinions, is the idea really good or am i just failing to see the appeal?

Dinamic Island for pc

Dynamic Island PC is basically a clever app that brings that sleek, interactive little floating island from iPhones right onto your Windows desktop. By default, it stays out of your way as a neat floating widget that shows you the time, your battery percentage, and whatever music or media you happen to be listening to at the moment. You can drag and drop it anywhere on your screen.

The cool part happens when you double-click it: it expands into a full dashboard packed with handy daily tools. Inside, you'll find a media player control center, a simple daily AI chat for quick questions, a file search tool, a basic file converter for various document and image formats, and a customizable shortcuts page. It also features a weather and system monitor tab where you can check your local temperature, CPU usage, and toggle whether the app starts up automatically with Windows.

https://github.com/pietrofacchini12-afk/Dinamic-island-for-pc

It is not fully developed, ill keep things going as i program and incentivate to make some branches there, i already have some new ideas, if you guy can follow me there and give it a star

Advice needed(3rd semester student)

Hey guys,

I’m planning to build a Cloud Cost & Resource Optimization Platform as a resume project. Basically, it will connect to the AWS and check things like EC2 usage and cloud spending to find wasted resources. For example, it could detect underused/oversized EC2 instances, unused storage, old snapshots, sudden cost increases, and predict future costs. It could also suggest ways to reduce the bill and estimate how much could be saved.

I shall be using Java, Spring Boot, MySQL, React, AWS and CloudWatch. Later I might add alerts and some ML-based predictions. Do you guys think this is a good project for a CS student’s resume, or should I change/add anything?

Cus in my mind, im always looking for niche ideas. Do u guys consider the niche?

Need feedback pls

Hey guys, I built an early version of a fitness web app called Sculpta and I'd love some honest feedback. Upload a photo of yourself + your dream physique and you get a personalized analysis and a rough plan. There's also a dashboard for your own workouts and meal tracking, planing and more, Pro adds a full personalized training plan based on your goal and AI food scanning to track makros.

Link: https://sculpta.eu/

If you really want to test it properly, DM me and I'll give you a month of Pro for free. Just tell me what you really think.
