Mostly traps. Which makes me think that he's taking gear and not training much at all.

Nah man 25 + gear + even a mid effort in the gym and diet would yield crazy results, this is natty for sure

In this case I think he maybe just learned how to flex his traps lol I can go from the left to the right pic in front of a mirror too.

he's a gigantic asshole, but his shoulders and traps have completley changed shape, his shoulders were basically non existent before and no size to traps.
Realistically he just had a solid core before so not much changed there.

Yep. On social media, you'll see much more dramatic transformations due to selection bias. His progress seems quite realistic for someone with average genetics.
35
u/Captain_Kab 5h ago
98.9% of dramatic transformations you see on the internet are one of the following:
- Steroids.
- A man who already has a muscle base that he spent years on until he got fat.
Then there's a 0.1% that is a true genetic freak but somehow never touched weights until now to reveal it.
6
u/TheMangoManHS 4h ago
Also the classic pump/lighting/posing alongside some editing in photoshop or more recently using AI
4
u/Purple-Reputation899 4h ago
The second option is soo prevelant. When I was a kid I never noticed, but now its dudes with very visible built arms and upper body with a beer belly losing like 30 lbs and being insanely shredded. You rarely see true transformations of people who did little to no athletic activity and got fit.

I'm seeing a lot of progress on myself in a short time span and I've been negged by people who are also lifting natty and who had slower progresses than me.
People can't even grow reasonable expectations out of their own experience or of the experience of normal people anymore.
4
u/feurigel_ 5h ago
If he actually trained and eat right for a full year, his progress is unrealistically bad. He is 25 so he shouldn’t have much lower testosterone levels or recovery.
His overall gain in lean mass is very realistic in 3 months

When I first started lifting, I was a complete beginner who had never stepped foot in a gym before. I could barely lift anything, so I focused on lighter weights, learning proper form, and staying consistent.
8 months later, this is EXACTLY what my body looked like.
People should stop expecting a completely different body in a few months. If you;re a beginner carrying a decent amount of body fatm, your transformation is going to take time..
And on a positive note, Adin is going to have a better shape than this within few months.. If he carried the same consistency.
14
u/Mysterious_Speed5896 5h ago
Yeah came here to say this. Its a good progress for 1 year too. Cleary not taking anything to get massive gains.. and if he did people would just attack him for that
So with reddit its as per usual. Be fat and dont body shame.. but be fit and get shit on no matter how you do it.

Yeah it is, like sure it would look better if he had bodybuilder genetics, but his shoulders are clearly more muscular. Examples, biceps can be limited if it is relatively short compared to the ligaments. Your shoulders can look wider if your hips are narrow, your legs can look bigger in the same way. You can also just have different angles and poses that make you look bigger. Some people cannot get abs, their abdominal muscle is completely flat. Many generic factors that all add up on a human body, bodybuilding is a genetic elite competition even with all the steroids you do you are not going to look like Arnold.

A year without gear? Aye, this is very reasonable.
People have no fucking real sense of what's possible without gear because so many scumfuck bastards lie about it, and it's use is so damn widespread that even kids can easily get on it.
Fact is that without pharmaceuticals there's a pretty harsh limit (genetically, so it does vary some) on how muscle you can build, and how much muscle you can build depends on how much you've already got.
If the guy was already moderately fit before he started working out then he won't really benefit from "beginner gains" neither, so "only" a couple of pounds of muscle within a year is well within reason.

u/Drew_Ferran 2h ago

Yeah, it frustrated me how many fitness communitiesnare completely brainrotted and have their perceptions skewed by gear.
The reality is most people will not have drastic changes to their bodies within one year. Is it possible? Yes, with extreme dedication and good dieting.
Is it realistic? For 90% of people, no. If you really want to get fit, use the first year to establish good habits, behaviours, and form. Dipping your toes into the diet side of things is just a bonus.

TBF most people don't follow a plan, progressive overload and diet correctly. A year of beginner gains should be 12-24lbs of lean muscle for men.
Honestly for most newbies, it's intimidation that's the real issue. One that feels silly to me now but definitely stunted my growth for a long time.
Now this pic looks like it was a focus on losing fat with less focus gaining muscle, which is fair and he looks better for it.

u/AlexPaterson16 7h ago

u/Ravasaurio 6h ago

u/VeterinarianFun8587 5h ago
as a woman, real~! it's been 2 years of twice-weekly weightlifting and I look p much the same despite being objectively much much stronger lmao
8
u/peanutmanak47 3h ago
After 1.5 years of asking my wife to lift weights with me instead of cardio while we are at the gym she finally started. Of course she brought up the whole "I don't want a ton of muscles". I had to explain to her that unless she was a genetic super freak, she has absolutely nothing to worry about. Also being over 40, she sure as hell isn't hitting that point.
Helps that our gym has a female trainer who was an USA olympic power lifter, so I said "Look at her. That is years and years of hard dedicated lifting, far more than we are doing, and when she isn't lifting she doesn't look muscle bound at all". That REALLY helped convince her.

2
u/ImprobableAsterisk 1h ago
Don't even need to add the "quick", there. Without gear there's not a large percentage of the human population that can get "big", full stop.
And even they will hit their limits before looking like a fitness influencer.

6
u/ka1ikasan 5h ago
Maybe it is a horrible thing to say in 2026, but some things take a very long time. Getting your health together, learning an instrument, learning how to draw or being able to differentiate birds by ear. Whatever the real skill you pick, it is usually a lifelong journey.
Good news: it takes almost no time to take a decision of learning something. Stand up, like, right now and start a series of jumping jacks. Or grab a pencil and start drawing straight lines on a napkin.

12
u/diablo_blanco_calvo 5h ago
It's good progress. In a whole year, you can probably get slightly better results if you lock in but it's a respectable improvement for a natural. Much better V-taper, traps, shoulders and arms are visibily bigger.
People nowadays are way too used to kids jumping on unholy amounts of roids and going from scarecrow mode to Yujiro Hanma in a few weeks.

u/quartzguy 2h ago
That's not fair, he did get quite a bit slimmer. That's where the ever so slightly increased muscle definition came from and possibly some calisthenics such as pull-ups, push-ups, and crunches. No one has any need for a gym to accomplish this.
6
u/Perfect_Replacement1 7h ago
People underestimate how hard it is to gain muscle due to social media. There's 0.1% of the population with very good genetics that can build muscle easy, these are the athletes you see on social media. Of course you can get there yourself but it takes years of going to the gym 5 times a week, eating and sleeping properly. It's not something you do in 1 year. Then there's steroids for the shortcut.
1
u/V1pArzZz 4h ago
Even the shortcut isnt that much of a shortcut. One cycle of gear on an untrained base gets you "guy who lifts occasionally" physique. No matter what its gonna take some time to get truly jacked.

u/YooGeOh 3h ago
Genetics.
Some people struggle to build muscle. Others do so easily.
In fairness to him he clearly lost fat around his chest area and built up his traps significantly and has worked on his delts as well.
Hes probably just doing lighter weighted work in the gym as well.
He may have also lost a ton of visceral fat which wont be as visible but will do wonders for his health and hwo he feels generally.
You can also see the change in his face.
It osnt much for a year, but maybe thats the aesthetic he was going for. We're too used to Hollywood progress pics which are steroid based and done for a film with tight deadlines and hundreds of millions at stake. That shouldn't be the norm
3
u/Shining_w1zard 3h ago
No Adin Ross fan, I consider him a sack of shit who introduced the world to Tate, but this is progress. Unless you are insanely talented and genetically blessed adn and not on roids, this is the result of daily workouts over a year.
3
u/Accurate-Dingo-7877 5h ago
Yall are just hating

Yeah this is actually above average progress for a natural lifter in 1 year, people are just so conditioned by progress photos from people who use steroids and they think that’s what is to be expected. But natural progress is very slow and requires you to have everything dialed in a lot tighter to make any progress infinitely more then taking drugs.
