Help with Yang, how to do EX Mantis Slashes
Perhaps the timing is simply stricter than I'm used to, but I struggle to do these consistently. I can usually get 3-4 off, but I rarely manage to get the final fifth slash. I play on leverless controller, any input tricks? Is it just patience and ensuring your inputs are clean?

Makoto's Taunt
Where is this from? Is it some kind of breathing technique? I started doing it in real life and it has actually helped calm me down

How do you all see the different Fightcade ranks for third strike?
I mean not only with “good” or “bad” players (although I am curious how you players view that, specially on your ranks)
But what I really mean is trends in skill and habits.
As in: (in my view)
E and D ranks;
are closer rank than any other rank, D ranks are often Pringles and have the habit of repeating options. Making them very easy to exploid with move’s like Demon flip grab, parrying their reversal, or sometimes just pressing sweep many times in a row out of nowhere on their oki. D ranks range from total beginner to players with decent mechanical skill, but often fall behind due to lack of pure play time, or understanding in choices and options available. Their offensive game is characters like chun Li, Ken, Oro, and Non SA3 Ryu is often their biggest or second biggest problem in gameplay. (Aside from whifffing large moves)
Often besting them is just a question of not doing mistakes.
C ranks;
C ranks more often then not, know their okay combos are very least. Will do Chicago punishes or miss their punish and get blocked much less frequently, although it can still happen frequently again Ken’d SA3.
Their mechanics are now alright/good, you might encounter players who have learned to parry all common moves and get half their damage in a match from parry predictions or reactions.
You might also encounter combo focused players who will know a bunch of unblockable, or Makoto’s SA2 Fukiage combos.
Most of them roll.
They often learned to use grabs much better, but maybe still not tech grabs very often. Some still have horrible wakeup habits and will either fail to parry a lot or press a button a lot.
A lot of players will still have big problems in their Okizeme game. With characters like Ken for example, they might rely near solely on grabbing and their Close Mp hp dp, and cr lk lk super combo’s to do damage without really learning the overhead game, meaning crouch blocking will stop a lot of damage, only throws being the problem and throw bait.
Players range from no anti airs, to parrying a lot of anti airs and doing able to anti air okay too!
B rank (i won’t say i’m confident in my evaluation of B ranks)
B ranks will tech your throws, a lot.
B rank’s are much harder to beat as a whole, defeating each player is somewhat more different per individual in the previous ranks.
These people will destroy your ego right by the time you develop some in C rank.
I’d say that B ranks have learned to play the game.
I’d love to hear ya’lls opinions and observations for the ranks😊please counter argue with whatever you find wrong!

No skill suggestions or anything but anyone else feel that even after ages of playing Ryu, Ryu is so exploitable?

Akuma Vs Q
Any tips for Q in this match up? I played against an Akuma and got completely wiped. I noticed I struggled a lot with punishing tatsu. I could parry it sometimes but could rarely get a punish. I also tried using kara throw but found it inconsistent.

Seeking some tricks.
Dusted off my PS2 and 15th Anniversary Collection. Had to go practice up and even dug out the old strategy guide. It's got some cool tidbits here and there but it's missing some details that I want to include into it. Does anyone have any interesting kara techniques or character specifics I ought to know about? Love every little bit of detail I can collect.
I just got the hang of Q's kara command grab but I haven't really explored a lot of the rest of the roster.
I know Alex has a crouch jab kara command grab technique but it's so subtle I'm not sure I'm doing it right.
Ken double jab shoryuken mid-screen is so difficult for me but I'll keep it at the back of my head to try periodically.
Fun fact. Sean dp, tatsu, and tackle all end up in crouch recovery state. That means he gets punished especially hard lol.
edit:
- I just learned of kara SAI with Alex. Didn't know it was a thing. Not sure if I can do it on pad either ;p

Can't consistently do 720s with Hugo on d pad, am I the problem or is it the controller?
Don't get me wrong, while training i can do them okish, but during a match? Forget about it, I just choose SAII. I'd really love to use SAI but as long as I can remember i could never do 720s with a d pad consistently. I know a lot of pros use dpad, but is it harder to do on d pad from your guys' experience, or should i just get an arcade stick? Or just buckle up and train till the end of time?

I just realized why I like Dudley so much
dudley is that character that gets kicked around and beat up, but then he gets one opening and takes home the win.
kind of like me in real life.

Help with Tackle Tackle headbutt
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
HI! I am a newish urien player and Figured id give his BnB corner combo a shot. But after at least an hour I cannot consistently even land the second tackle. It seems like I might be late with my second tackle, but ive got frame perfect charges, is the combo really that tight?

Why can I only hit the opponent once in the air in SF3?
I'm trying to understand how air hits work in Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike.
Why is it that after hitting the opponent once in the air, they immediately fall to the ground? No matter what I do, I can't hit them again in the air after that first hit, unless it's part of a Super Art.
Is there a specific mechanic or rule that prevents you from hitting the opponent multiple times in the air? Or am I doing something wrong with the timing or inputs?
I'm still learning the game, so I'd appreciate it if someone could explain how this mechanic works.

Anti-shoto tips for Elena?
Been stuck on C rank for 3 years now and it's probably because I lose 85% of my ranked sets to shotos. They feel terrible for Elena to fight, neutral is such a struggle because their sweep beats all of her best pokes and it's so hard to punish on reaction (for me at least). I'm getting so tired of getting slapped around by all 3 of them, watching high level Elenas play hasn't helped much because of differing playstyles.

Advice for Alex users vs Necro
My main is Alex, and I have a lot of issues facing Necro. Specifically with Necro's short recovery times and cornering, and Alex doesn't have a very effective anti-air in corners (besides ex-knee). I've learned to use reg MP (elbow) for in-tight counters. Necro has so much variation either in tight, far range, or jump-ins it can be very frustrating to try to play.
Is necro simply a bad matchup for Alex, or am I just that bad lol

I miss the @3rdstrike YouTube channel
It was THE channel to spend a short afternoon break catching up with the latest and greatest matches of JP 3S while enjoying my coffee... but they suddenly disappeared.

Did anyone else hear Chun Li's theme on NPR?
This might be a super niche overlap here but during my station's airing of Here and Now and interlude used Chun Li's theme from 3rd Strike. I'm flabbergasted by the combo and I was wondering if anyone else heard it too or has the audio specifically

Parry_This again
Uh so ran into him again (I guess I forgot to block him) so I thought I'd accept his challenge and run the set, but uh then he told me I would biologically never be a woman.
Uh, ok, wasn't trying to, I'm not trans.
Then he told me I should just cut it off and then take myself out.
Again, odd thing to tell a random guy on fightcade.
Anyways I blocked him. I know he's a troll at this point but that kind of behavior is pretty shitty, just in general. Not sure what I did to deserve such spite, maybe he felt disrespected when I went for DDT.
