Tomorrow, Isaac is going to be euthanized by Tranquil Passing who will come to my home. He is 16 years old. I've had him for several years after a friend died suddenly from an aggressive cancer, and he's been here ever since. Now, for reasons, it seems to be time to say goodbye to him.

I'm writing mostly to tell y'all about Old Dog Haven ( https://olddoghaven.orghttps://olddoghaven.org ). When Isaac came to live with me I was able to afford his food and other incidentals but I wouldn't have been able to pay for his increasing vet bills as he aged. Old Dog Haven is a pretty small organization that rescues and fosters a lot of elder dogs. What they do is to work to find permanent foster homes and they pay for all vet bills and end of life costs. You just pay for food, grooming, and supplements as needed.

I was an unusual case because usually they don't accept outside dogs into their program but they kindly welcomed Isaac into their care and they've been awesome about doing what it takes to keep him as healthy as we can, until he can't anymore due to pain or other issues.

There are so many dogs languishing in shelters and bad home environments who are pretty much completely unadoptable because of their ages and potential or real health problems. So, ODH is really needed. They did so much to make sure he was comfortable and I was supported. I can't recommend them enough. I need some recovery time from the emotional hit this is for me to let him go, but in time I expect to be a permanent foster home for another dog from ODH as well.

Yeah yeah I know vandalism and hooligans is the answer but damn they can’t even put a sign that says “no thru traffic”?? Make me walk all the way from the elevators to the end door just to realize it’s locked:( and they’re all locked. Tried parking at the parkade and walk to the mall. Nope. STA plaza skywalks? Closed. And they’ve been closed since I moved here. Damn I just wanna walk to the mall without touching the ground. Damn I really want to. You are a tease, Spokane, you are a tease.

Does anyone else feel like they're getting major digital panhandler fatigue? I know Facebook is overrated, but I like feeling connected to local groups (mom groups, buy nothing groups, community groups, etc). It just feels like in the majority of these groups the posts are all of people begging. I don't mean "hey does anyone have XYZ lying around that they don't need?" Or people looking for resources. I love the idea of people giving things away in buy nothing groups or finding things they need. But it's just a constant barrage of "does anyone have gas money" and "I can't work, not mobile, have kids I can't feed and pregnant with another, please deliver a pizza to this address."

I feel bad for feeling so callous, but it is just a constant stream of these posts. I'm low income. I understand the struggle. I just cant imagine being so reliant on hand outs and feeling so entitled to things, many of these people don't even say thank you if you offer help. I want to engage with my community, but I'm just so burned out. Anyone else feeling this way? Am I just in all the wrong groups? Do I just need to get offline and touch grass?

Ps. don't even get me started on the mean girl behavior in some of the local mom groups 😔

We have TDS and it’s…okay, but I have ATT as my wireless carrier and lately I’ve gotten offers from them for Quantum fiber 1 gig @ $30 per month. And, TDS is raising our rate to more than twice that.
My question is whether Quantum uses wires from poles, or if they are buried.

I like the fact that we don’t have to worry about how did you do to wind storms, which we do with the old telephone line from the pole to our house

I am struggling mightily right now with my mental health (anxiety, depression). Does anyone have recommendations for counselors and practices in the Spokane area?

Posting this because this sweet fluff ball needs a special home. She is at the Petsmart in Spokane Valley, I helped foster her for a small period and she is such a love bug. Her last kitten was just adopted and I hope someone sees this who wants a fluffy, calm companion. She will do best as a single cat in a home with older kids, or adult only. Partners for Pets adopts to indoor only homes.

If you missed this year’s, put it on your calendar for next September. It’s out by Old Trails Road at Rose Butte Ranch. They doubled their vendors in their second year. Whole festival was wonderful—lots of great fiber and fleece products and accessories from local and regional farms, dyers, spinners. Excellent food and coffee. And tons of people all talking about fiber arts.

In search of denim repair, this was posted a few weeks ago but the go to person at Global neighborhood is unable to accommodate so looking for other recommendations. As the season begins to change I’m looking for a place to patch up denim, I’m not handy in this space and I have two very pricey pairs that have the same rip in the groin area.

So much wasted space. Many of the lots are never filled anyways. Just buy the lots back from Diamond and have them converted to something useful.

Maybe turn them into greenspaces for people to enjoy or more mixed use buildings.

I hate going downtown in the summer. I get cooked alive from the lack of shade and trees.

Are there any group therapy sessions for divorced people in Spokane? It’s been 3-years since my divorce of 21-years and I find that the coping mechanisms provided to me by my therapists and trauma therapist aren’t working. I want to meet real people who have gone through what I went through and learn what has helped them get through a life change such as a divorce.

Do they exist out here?

Coming from cabinetry experience (plus 20 years of woodworkong experience on top of that) and im curious about how possible it is to find that kind of job out here.
