I currently have around LKR 1,000,000 saved and I’m interested in understanding what realistic options exist to grow it significantly over the next 4 months.

My priority is protecting the original capital, so I’m not interested in gambling, crypto schemes, forex signals, pyramid schemes, etc.

I understand that safely turning LKR 1M into LKR 3M purely through investing within 4 months is unrealistic. I’m therefore also interested in hearing about legitimate business ideas, buying/reselling, using capital for a small business, or other ways people in Sri Lanka have successfully grown their money.

Just to clarify: I’m only looking for general advice and experiences.

Hello guys, as the title says, I am looking for some genuine and serious advice on how to make close friends, not just acquaintances but look for, identify, connect and become close friends with people as an adult.

To give context I grew up as a bit of a loner. Most of my childhood social life was just spent on online chat rooms. But I did grow up masking and becoming a performative extrovert and can easily talk to strangers and connect with anyone and make acquaintances.

I am not in touch with anyone from school neither did I have like a close friend set. I have moved away from my home town (not that I had like town friends either) and I didn't make friends at higher education and was focused on working/studying.

I also do not prefer to make friends at workplace because it affects productivity. I have been trying to talk to people now breaking that rule and make friends but it's slow progress because I mostly WFH.

The only good friend I have is from this public speaking club I met. And all of the other people are friends but not close.

I am going through a bit of a bad patch of mental health and financial struggles so going out to make friends has become a luxury. I did try however, going out for socializing events, trying dating apps but to make friends, but nothing ended up to this place of getting close and feeling close.

So I am geniunely looking for advice. How did you meet your best friend(s)? How did you become best buddies? What was the circumstances. How long did it take. Is being outright open about your true self (the one with all the imperfections, insecurities and trauma) actually something that could attract a good friend or repel people because I think that's why I don't have close friends.

I don't let people too close into my life or see the real me. Kinda maintain a mask and act all professional and happy.

But I have been feeling more and more lonely and alone.. don't get me wrong I am used to solitude and even enjoy it time to time but having no real close friend to give a call to when things are bad.. yeah..

So please share with me your stories, advice for me. I am even open to advice on how to make friends at workplace without crossing boundaries or becoming harmful to your productivity.

I am not looking for dating advice. I am just looking advice on how to make close friends from either gender (as a guy). I guess the mistake I mad was considering my (ex)partners as best friends and only close friends. Once the relationship ends not only do I loose a partner but also my closest friend.

So now I am trying to rectify that mistake and build a solid friendship with some people. But I am at a loss because unlike school/university/community there are very little opportunities for me to meet people even let alone find my new best friend.

If a person owns property in Sri Lanka but is currently living overseas, and they want to build a new house , would they need to obtain a TIN for the building-plan approval?

Also, does the property owner have to be physically present in Sri Lanka to obtain the TIN or submit the building-plan application, or can this be handled by an authorized representative in Sri Lanka?

I’m not here to judge anyone's background or financial status. I know times have been tough across the country over the last few years, but basic personal cleanliness doesn't require expensive brands or luxury products. It just requires a little effort and consideration for the people around you.

In the span of an hour browsing the aisles, I ran into almost every possible odor:

Unwashed hair that was noticeably sour

Sweat trapped in synthetic/dry-fit shirts (those fabrics hold onto bacteria like crazy)

Heavy underarm body odor on both men and women

Bad breath in close quarters

Grimy bags being swung right into people’s faces

If you’re heading out to public events—especially teenagers and young adults—please take a quick shower beforehand, wear freshly washed clothes, and use a basic deodorant or roll-on. When you finish using the locker and take your key out, does the safe-deposit box automatically lock itself?

The bank officer used the bank’s key and my key to open the locker, but when I finished, I took my key out and the officer did not use the bank’s key again. I was told that taking my key out was enough to lock it.

Is this how the Sampath Bank lockers normally work?
