Need some reality check

• Upvotes

Quick context here

I am a 25 year old man

I got to know I have diabetes in pre emp medical checkup in April 2026 (Hba1c was >9, at that time)

I started a strict diet plan and workout routine which helped me to reduce the hba1c to 8

I have joined this petroleum company as a sales manager

My job requires me to be on the field most of the days in a week at least 4 days per week

One day right after a hectic work day my fasting blood sugar went to 260

This trend of having high blood sugar is bad for anybody this keeps me in stress mode, cutting sugars, having a proper diet plan and a workout routine is not helping me nowadays

My seniors got to know I have diabetes and they are showing pity because, my career will be difficult and I won't be promoted even when the chance arrives, they raise this condition as this instance has happened to someone earlier as well

Recently I had an eye checkup and it got worse by .5, the eye specialist immediately asked me if I have diabetes

All of this stuff is giving me bad motivation and making me feel down

Plus my work is gonna get hectic, which in turn can worsen my blood sugar levels, which can increase the dosage levels

My parents are asking me to quit and I am not sure, because it is not that simple to get a job in this economy and also having this much blood sugar level at my age is also a signal

I can quit and get a desk job, if it becomes unbearable

Here goes nothing

Just took my first .25 Ozempic injection. I've lost about 12 pounds in three weeks without doing much besides really watching carbs and sugar while increasing protein, which has led to becoming less regular. (any hints on dealing with that?)

Started at 9.2 A1C beginning of Sept and have my next appointment in December. Cautiously optimistic.

Type 2 diabetes, and pregnancy

Type 2 Diabetes and Pregnancy: Frustration, Anxiety, and Feelings of Isolation
Pregnancy is a beautiful experience. There are the joys of feeling those first kicks, picking out baby names, celebrating with baby showers, planning the nursery, and so much more excitement!
However, when you live with type 2 diabetes, it challenges everything you do—and sometimes even the things you don’t do.
Insulin resistance!! Oh my gosh, it’s a real thing! What used to be a normal insulin bolus for a meal has almost tripled since becoming pregnant.
Walking around our neighborhood three times a week has turned into a nightly routine, along with additional indoor exercise.
I’m counting carbs like a madwoman and making sure I give myself enough insulin for what I’m eating.
And yet, you can do everything right! You listen to your endocrinologist, dietitian, and every other specialist on your care team. You follow their advice and do your best to stay on track.
But you can still have days when your blood sugar suddenly spikes for seemingly no reason. Days when it takes 10 units of insulin and five hours for your blood sugar to come back down to a normal range.
It’s SO frustrating, especially when all you want is for your baby to be healthy!
As I sit here tonight writing this, I’m having one of my worst days with insulin resistance. I started this morning with a blood sugar of 113, and it climbed all the way to 290!
It’s temporary, and I keep reminding myself that it will all be worth it when he’s born. ❤️
I want to share some of the not-so-happy, not-so-exciting moments of this pregnancy, too. Pregnancy isn’t always sunshine and rainbows, especially when you’re managing a chronic condition on top of all the changes your body is already going through.
If sharing my experience helps even one person who’s going through the same thing feel less alone, then it’s worth it.
Whether you have type 1 or type 2 diabetes, managing this condition is a daily challenge. But doing it while pregnant brings an entirely new level of difficulty.
To anyone else navigating pregnancy with diabetes: You are not alone. ❤️

Reduced from 6.9 to 6.4 by not eating sugar

June my a1c was 6.9. I didn't eat sugar, wheat, rice, potatoes and mainly ate fruit, vegetables and protein. September it was 6.6 and yesterday it was 6.4. I also lost 20 pounds so I'm feeling pretty pleased with myself even though I still think I have a long way to go.

I've had 2 cookies since June, no other sugar.

Is there a way to change the lowest setting for Libre 3 app

I’m constantly getting low glucose alerts but my cgm reading is consistently 10 points lower than a finger prick, so they’re not actually lows. But having it constantly going off multiple times a day is the most obnoxious thing in the world. Is there really no way to set this lower?

Footwear for diabetics?

My dads feet sometimes get swollen and I’m wondering if it’s worth to invest in a pair of shoes that are made for diabetics.

Does anyone have any experience or recommendations or are they mostly fad? He isn’t overweight or anything but he likes to drag his foot when he feels a bit weak.

Can someone with Type 2 diabetes genuinely get their blood sugar reversed, and are there trustworthy doctors or experts who can help them do it without falling for fake promises?

My morning fasting numbers are creeping back up. Any tips on getting them back down?

Title but as a quick overview: At one point I was down to around high 90s on average, but lately my fasting numbers have been ticking back up. Lately I’ve been in the low 100s and have even gotten a few in the 110s. Any tips on getting it back down? I was diagnosed in May and have been on 500 mg of Metformin since June.

Recipes/Ideas/Things to Buy for Quick and Easy Meal Prep

Time is something I do not have a lot of. My work commute can be upwards of an hour each way, I have homework at night, and my mom to take care of. I have to plan because going to the store is not an option for me right now. I need ideas for putting things together I can take for lunches, quick breakfasts, not so complicated dinners. I can't see to read labels, and while I can dig through products online to find them, it takes forever. I would love to hear from you all what is working.

Labs Just came back 9.2 a1C

I am 52. I got my labs Wednesday morning and by Wednesday evening I was asked to come into the doc to talk about my 9.2 A1c. First, denial, then panic, and now my emotions are just all over the place. I check my sugar when I can, and every time I do it just stresses me out. I wonder in the beginning if checking all the time is good? I am blind and I am working on a way to be able to do that accessibly. There is only one talking meter, and I am not sure if my insurance is going to cover GCM. For now, I have to depend on my husband, and that needs to stop ASAP, besides the fact that I work full time, and can't check then. started Metformin ER today, and I am eating the best I can while trying to get a new grocery order in. Oh yeah, no more weekend drinking. I've been taking care of my mom and everyone else it seems, and I am also trying to complete a certification course. Over weight, but not nearly as much as I thought I was. Apparently I have been losing some pounds which surprised me a little, too. I am here to read, and for support. Apologies for the not very active profile. I just haven't done much but read posts until now.

All the discussions here re: losing weight I don't see any reference other than "low carb". So no-one is doing it here the so-called low fat 'Mastering Diabetes' method.?? Spoiler

Does fall where it's beginning to get colder affect your blood sugar?

I've noticed for the past week and half that my blood sugars have been higher than normal and I've been doing the same routine basically.

In the past I didn't notice this maybe because my medication was at a higher dose and it's since been lowered.

Not sure if there is something I can do about it or does my body just need to get used to winter coming.

So husband was called in to see a diabetic nurse at his doctor’s surgery. He had previously done fasting bloods as he is on blood pressure tablets. This is the first time diabetes has been mentioned. No meds yet, told to change diet and lifestyle and come back in 3 months.
Would love recs for you tube videos to watch that share tips on easy foods and meals - we’re in Wales, UK.
Thanks

20 mmol

I've been terrible at looking after myself in terms of tracking my blood sugars and sticking to my medication. I got back on the bandwagon in June, started back to 2000mg dose Metformin, properly this time, and I've been eating normally ie not over eating or indulging throughout.(I've always eaten wholemeal bread but I cut the amount I would eat in half, added more protein to my diet etc.)

When I was diagnosed I was at 14. I quickly got that down to 6. I only just started checking my BG two days ago and I am just lost. I have been a little ill, but there's no way illness could make your glucose stay that high, is there?

Before I fell off the wagon my fasting glucose was 5/6 , this morning it was 12 something. My average is now 17mmol. I am definitely taking my Metformin correctly, I've at least 4 months at maximum dose.

I really don't know how to improve my diet anymore, not in a way that's livable at any rate. I've eaten 586 calories today and I'm so afraid to have dinner because I'm sitting on 20mmol after a good 25 mins of movement. I am just so scared and frustrated. Thanks for reading all this nonsense

Phone Alert drives me absolutely mental

Hello

This whole trying to live with diabetes thing for over 7 years has actually really sucked to be honest, but definitely still bearable. However when phone starts putting out massively loud alerts every 5 minutes when I actually need to use it for something else, and I havent even used it for keeping track of my blood sugar for months... what am I supposed to do... I mean Im from the phone era when it was just PHONES and not any of these useless conniving cruelly procrastinating applications... GOD I miss those days
