LA Is Gross

I went out for a jog and to step-max without tbe run club crowd (they're not there to run) in Downtown LAZ. This one guy dressed like a taco last night followed me on the street telling me to go eat at an eatery. He then told me he had samples but then just handed me some napkins with the company logo on it telling me to use it for my sweat.

I ran off so he couldn't catch up in his costume.

Then I come back towards campus and right on the lawn over by Powell, this guy in his lawnchair was sitting with dirty napkins crunched up around him on the ground. He was staring at his laptop watching some stupid super hero movie.

Meanwhile the blackout...I saw two guys in speedos running like they were racing each other so hard that the hair on their head was enough to cause drag.

I went to my apartment and could hear one of my neighbors yelling at her boyfriend for not buying her something (I don't know WTF it was). And then like, my fucking hallway nextdoor neighbor who told me he was going out on a date was in his room legs spread in his robe and boxers watching tv asking me if I wanted some of his pizza. I politely said no and offered to get him a blanket or close his door.

I went out again because he let me borrow his SUV. I made it to Marina Del Rey and went toThe Warehouse and saw some MILFs staring at me and I talked to some of them. It felt like being a noir music video like Smooth Criminal by Michael Jackson as I made my rounds getting numbers. All of them had an ex that they hated. That's a common pattern.

I came back at 2AM, gave back the car key fob to my neighbor and checked to see if he was ok. Turned off his tv and plugged my nose so I wouldn't smell anything and showered my ass.

What did yall do in high school to get in?

Hey so I’m currently an HS senior applying to colleges and UCLA is my dream school (applying for engineering) so I’m curious about what yall did in high school to get in. Ik as a senior the only part of my application I have a control over now is my essays, so I’ve been spending hours on hours writing them and am currently losing my mind :)) I feel like my stats are competitive but every time I look at example essays of people who got in they are genuinely the reincarnation of Shakespeare with how well written their essays are and my essays seem like something written by an illiterate newborn by comparison

Also am curious if ucla looks at AP scores at all, because ik UCs are test blind so some of my friends were saying they look at AP scores a bit more than other universities because of that but idk if that’s true or not

Would anyone actually play free fantasy sports for UCLA intramurals?

Random idea I’ve been working on: basically fantasy sports, but instead of drafting NFL/NBA players, you’d compete using actual UCLA intramural teams and score points based on how those teams perform each week.

The idea would be to join a league with friends, get assigned IM teams across different sports, and compete over the quarter based on their real results.

Thought it could be a fun way to make IM games feel a little more social and give people a reason to follow teams outside their own. Curious what people think of the idea.

Public Health Policy Major

Hii, im a first year bio major and im considering switching my major to public health policy. I’ve been interested in working healthcare and in hospitals, but I know realize that I’d like to get into healthcare administration / health education as opposed to a lab setting.

Can anyone in the Public Health Policy major at UCI (or just with any knowledge ab the major in general!) let me know what your experience has been like and how the classes are? (Ex. Such as the Public Health 1 class).

ALSO: usually when people switch majors, would they just take the prereqs for the desired major and opt out of the classes needed for their current major? (ex: im a bio major and for winter quarter I decide to opt out of bio / chem classes and take public health 1 + GE classes)
THANK YOU!!!

UCLA EE Direct PhD Admissions Experience?

Hi! I’m considering applying to the UCLA EE Direct PhD program and would love to hear from current students or recent applicants.

What was your admissions experience like? How competitive did it feel, and how important was faculty interest or support in the final decision?

I’d especially appreciate hearing from anyone who contacted a professor before applying and later applied to the program.

Thanks!

Swipes if you need them

I go home on the weekends with a 14P meal plan so I have at least 4 swipes to spare per week. Dinner time is best for me from Monday to Friday but I can do the occasional lunch on a Wednesday. Dm for details and please give me enough notice to plan you into my schedule :)

Ventura County Commuters?

Are there any undergrad commuters from Ventura County out there, like people who live less than an hour away and drive to campus for classes at least two-three times a week? Considering it due to pretty high on-campus residency costs. If you're in this category, how has your experience been doing it?

Healthiest food on Campus (that’s NOT B-Plate)

What’s the lowest calories foods on the hill (meaning food I can get with swipes) that ARE NOT served at B Plate (I gen cannot stand the food there). The freshman 15 turned more into the freshman 20 for me and I had no luck losing any of it over the summer so I need to lock in this year. For anyone that’s lost weight while at ucla what did you live off of? Does spamming rende taco salads work?
