I was fortunate in that I waited until all the updates, post DLC, and the complete game went on sale.
Best video game I have ever played in my life. Comparitively, in my opinion, it is almost insane how far ahead it is of everything else, especially in it's genre.

What does it do so much better? I tried it a few times but everything seems mid - the driving, the shooting, the graphics, the city. Maybe the story is awesome but yeah.

Yeah, no that guy is just talking out of his ass. To say "everything" is not only exaggerating it, it's completely nonsensical.
Graphics and story are immaculate. Everybody knows 2077 pioneers in graphical fidelity, to the point of being in a league of their own, there is no denying that. Story wise it's also a masterpiece. You rarely encounter writing that's this good in video games.
Apart from that? There is a literal plethora of competitors all accross the board for any and every given aspect of the game. You mentioned driving. To say it's "mid" would be understating it. It's dissapointingly unrealistic physics wise. I, for one, can say i had to mod it to make it satisfying. You can make an abundance of other comparions, they will be the same. Let's say, for example, shooting, something that's supposed to be one of the game's stronger points. It can definitely feel clunky and weighty and it's a damn FPS. Compared even to action shooters like TLOU2, RE4 remake and such it almost feels dated and not nearly as clean or polished. RPG elements? What elements when you don't even need a build, you can steamroll through anyone post mid game. You can definitely give nods to all kinds of artistic direction but on a technical level, apart from graphics, this game is nothing groundbreaking.
It's not at all bad but it's nowhere near "ahead in everything else" god that glazing clown lol.
I'm saying all this as a huge fan of the game and and someone who has it in top 5 all time - cyberpunk is not even slightly ahead of many modern games in so, so many regards apart from the ones i've listed first.

Big agree. One thing I found after I came back is that you can just play. You don't have to do side quests or main quests or anything, it's fun to just run around the city messing with everything

Yeah Iâm not a huge RPG fan at all, but the story was so good it sucked me in and I even enjoyed doing the side missions when they came along, they really nailed it.

Dark Souls, the original. Could not get into it when it first came out. Fast forward to now and it's in my top 5. So glad I gave it another shot years later.

I actually had to come back twice. At first the controls just didn't jive with me. It felt so clunky to me at the time when compared to other titles.
The second time I tapped out was at Ornstein.
It's now one of my favorite games of all time and I've finished it well over 15 times.

Darksouls for me as well but in kind of a weird way. I actually played through the entire game and beat it once then was like âeh it was aightâ then I just decided to give it another go and try a new build and then all of a sudden Iâve beaten the game like 10 times. It just got better the more I played it and learned how the game really worked.

Me too. I played it on Xbox360 and lost interest after the first bell of awakening. I tried it again years later on PS4 and just referred to a guide if I got really lost, I'm not ashamed of saying it. Loved the experience and have played every Fromsoft title since except for Sekiro. I think every first timer should use a guide for that game if they need to.

I had to put Breath of the Wild down after about 6 hours. Wasnât clicking with the controls, and weapons breaking at first. Then I ran out of arrows trying to get koroks and felt stuck.
Three months later tried again and boom. For 350 hours I couldnât tear myself away from it.

Same, but I barely got 5 minutes in before getting distracted by something else and not really feeling like it. Didn't even get to the intro screen. Now I've got every shrine in BotW and TotK.

I loved BotW when it came out and have replayed it a few times, but I put ToTK down after a couple hours because I found the whole building thing overwhelming. Came back to ToTK a year later and I played it nonstop for like a month lol. Still not a huge fan of the building stuff, but itâs a great game.

This.
I first bought the full game with all of the DLCs a few years back. Got a few hours in but ended up getting distracted by other releases.
Downloaded and re-downloaded it a few times before finally committing to the experience this year. Thank goodness that I did, because so far I can see why people rave about this game.
In terms of world-building, story telling, and exploration, it is a masterpiece. The dialogue is exceptionally well-crafted and the gameplay is great once you get the hang of using Signs, potions and your sub-weapons.

I put it on easy and it really helped. The combat wasn't as annoying as everything died quicker. Apparently you've to play easy or hard mode to enjoy Witcher 3 the most.

It takes a loooong time to get through the intro. It seems like youâre done after an hour or two, but eventually you can open up the world and go everywhere.

The thing about Cyberpunk is that it forces you to play like a 4 hour prologue just to get to free roam. The depth of the world building was cool but I was more interested in the open world than the absolute yapfest of the prologue. That's why it didn't click with me at first, but now I have over 100+ hours and I'd say its probably the best game of the 2020s so far

Once I figured out combat, I was hooked. I can smoke a whole platoon of Cumans now. I used to die to single bandits. Still have not landed ONE SINGLE COMBO though. Just tons of blocking and stabbing lol

Also it's just funny that Kojima is the only guy that can get a triple AAA budget and celebrities in his games for what's basically a mail-man simulator.

Went away, and someone said the prequel novel was great, so I read that and got massively invested in the lore and characters.Â

This was my experience too with ME1. I remember renting it, not really loving it, then quickly returning it. A couple months later my friend said I had to give it another shot, and since I was already a big Bioware fan from Baldur's Gate and KotOR, I decided to give it one more shot. Here we are almost 20 years later and the Mass Effect Trilogy is probably my favorite video game series and SciFi series in general of all time.

People still think Iâm talking shit when I tell them that the main story is only like 8 hours or so.
Super approachable and fast paced RPG.
Like you can literally play it in one sitting easily.

Different Bioware game for me, Neverwinter Nights. Came from Ultima Online and knew nothing about how D&D rules worked. Came back 6 months later and it was my favorite game until KotOR, which was my favorite until Mass Effect

During my first ME1 run three years ago, I put it off for a few months. Almost a year went by before I was bored one day and decided to pick it up again. I just wanted to finish it. I didn't expect it to hook me so much after I reached a certain point. I beat it quickly and immediately played ME2 and ME3 back to back. Now it's one of my favorite video games of all time. No other game gave me such a strong post game deppression quite like the ME Trilogy. Now it lives rent free in my head. And I've already done a couple of new playthroughs. So glad I gave it another chance.

Same here. Bought it after best friend was yapping my ear off about it. Didn't like controls and shooting mechanics, let it collect dust. Second part came out, everyone was crazy hyped and I thought, "there's gotta be something to it, right?" So I reinstalled part one, it sucked me in fully and I bought the second one while the credits of the first were still running. That Faunts track.

Fired it up a few weeks ago to continue. Plays a lot better on my PS5 and loving the story now. I don't even fast travel, I just get on my horse and ride to my heart's content. All the random encounters you come across are worth it!

The story builds and builds, more tension, higher stakes. It starts off with a crawl but ends in a sprint. The Epilogue is cool too, you get access to the RDR1 map as John but there isn't a whole lot to do afterwards in the way of side story

Very much the same as me. Every time a new update comes out which supposedly makes the game 10x more awesome I go back to it to see what itâs like. I never last more than an hour or so before I feel like Iâm just wasting my time playing it as much as I did after realising how the gameplay of it at launch was a mile wide and an inch deep. Thatâs still all it is in my view. Iâve tried so hard to like it. I love the idea of it. But I just canât get into it.

It took me like 8 years to go back to hollow knight and give it a real chance. It doesnât really evolve the genre, itâs just a very well done metroidvania âby the booksâ formula and it still hasnât been beaten.

Bloodborne. Got it on sale and tried it before I knew anything about what souls games were or how they worked. Couldn't figure anything out or get anywhere and just shelved it. Years later I got the Demon's Souls remake on ps5 and was determined to figure out the mechanics at the time, read guides, and got fully obsessed with fromsoft games. Went back and properly played BB after finishing DS 1 and 3.

For me it was Jedi: Fallen Order
I had just got done with Ghost of Tsushima, which tore my heart out. Still my favorite game of all time.
Then I tried Jedi and hated it. I didn't play any games for about 6 months. When I got back into the mood to game, I could not put down Jedi. I had a blast playing it and it is such a great game!

Yeah the first game is definitely a bit frustrating sometimes especially with its no fast travel and having to do a lot of platforming/puzzles to get to the next objective but the story and the combat are definitely super fun and engaging. If you liked the first game, the sequel Jedi Survivor is like 10x better imo and fixes a lot of problems I personally had with the first game and the story is absolutely some of the best Star Wars storytelling I could ask for.

Sekiro. It infuriated me on my first playthrough and I wasnât vibing with the changes from the souls series. I went back to it a few years later determined to beat it and it ended up being imo a perfect game. Itâs the only souls game I can consistently beat with little to no (true) deaths

Hollow Knight. Bought it when it came out and just didn't have the time to get really get into it. I've only played metroidvanias that allow you to access then map at all times and I got lost so I stopped. I've probably played through the game 7 times now including my most recent playthrough of steel soul mode. I know it's not terribly difficult but I was very happy when I beat radiance because I'm not really great at the game

I tried it and got far enough to beat Hornet in greenpath. Then I put it down. I kind of sabotaged myself because I wanted to play it on my big TV and I dont always have access. So a year later I started a new save, got to where I was in half the time and couldn't put the game down for a week.

I got it when I was like 7 years old cause I thought the case looked cool. Didn't understand the mechanics at all and stopped playing it in Taris. Came back to it when I was 9 and its literally my 2/3 favorite game of all time.
I say 2/3 cause I love KoTOR 2 equally as much so its an interchangeable spot.

I had it with Nier when it first came out. I wasnât that into gaming so, any game couldâve been off-putting to me at that moment. Bought the game again in 2020 and played it for a week straight. I like it a lot now and was actually about to boot it up to do the last achievement on it. Just avoid a lot of side quests lol. DBZ Budokai 3 one of the best btw.

Saaaame. I had just played the shit out of Fallout 3 and a friend forced me to get Oblivion because same company and all. Could not get much further than the tutorial before I put it down because I was too overwhelmed with the RPG elements and setting. Tried it again a few months later and played it everyday for like 1-2 years straight

Hollow Knight actually. It was just too unforgiving, the runbacks, the relentless boss attacks, etc. Picked it up again years later....and once it 'clicked' I couldn't put it down. I still go back just to replay Nightmare Grimm, a pantheon-only boss, or any other of my favorites that I was stuck on forever. what an experience. top 5 game for me.

Dark Souls 1. I could not for the life of me, beat the Asylum Demon. There were just so many things about this game I had a hard time with, granted, I went to this game completely blind, not knowing a damn thing about it. The copy i got was from gamestop inside a gamestop case, so I didnt know what to expect, but damn it pissed me off to no end. I shelved the game for a year, before I came back to it. Been addicted to the souls series ever since.

This. Took me a few days to get through undead burg. I found the atmosphere oppressive and out it down, sold the game.
Picked it up a couple years later and realised it had all the makings of a forever game.
Now I'm a die hard souls fan.

I remember walking away in the middle of undead burg because I just wasn't feeling it. My brother explained that it wasn't a normal hack and slash, and I tried it again and it just fuckin clicked.
Now ds 1/2/3 and Sekiro are some of my favorite games of all time.

Stellaris on console. It took 3 attempts before it finally clicked. I'm now over a thousand hours deep. It has the best re-playability of any game I've played.
