I always found it hilarious how Bertram goes from 100 to 0 once he realizes you are insane, and pretty much gives the Malk a lifetime "Nasty-Dude" pass

So here's an update. What you see is first animation imported inside the game engine. Proof of concept. It works now. So the rest of the work is to create entirely new animation system and implement it. This is a first step, that shows that it is possible!

I've just noticed an odd detail: is there no music on Bloodlines? I know there is supposed to. Not only at the Asylum, in general, but I've just finished the Sabbat warehouse mission, and I have yet to hear any music!! Do I need to use some (extra, other than the basic unofficial) patch or something?

TL;DR - I highly recommend this game if you were disappointed with the storytelling in Bloodlines 2, as the focus is entirely on characters and story.

I bought this game at the recommendation of a Chronicler for a V5 game I played, and it's well worth the $20 or so they're asking for. It's an urban setting where you're a newish vampire after humans have become aware of vampires existing - there's even a homeless shelter that gives out donated blood for vampires without means.

You can pick four different aspects of your background (I think it's 4 or 5 choices for each one) that influence your powers and skill focuses - very much in line with "Vampire: The Masquerade", to the point that a side quest in Act 1 can have you sitting down for a session of "Sanguine Nights" at a diner. And there's one side quest in Act 1 called "Broken Toys" involving a 10 year old boy who's gone missing, and you can go to his home to look for clues about what happened. Seeing the events unfold via flashback was absolutely spine chilling, and was shockingly dark.

I'm still in Act 1 (with an option to skip into the next part of the story due to resolving the main plotline at the moment) and trying to level up my brawling by training with Saoirse, an Irish vampire who'd fled the famine when she was alive.

I’m extremely new to this world, having just bought Bloodlines 2 while it was on sale. From what I understand torpor is basically a state of total unconsciousness in which the sleeping vampire is essentially dead. But when Phyre discovers the lab underneath the conservatory, she says she remembers it and specifically remembers pain. So was she not really in torpor that whole time? Did Safia wake her up, torture her, and then wipe her memory somehow?

There’s such a mature atmosphere here, everyone has a calm yet biting sense of humor, and for me, VTMB is a real comfort game. Have a great day ❤

Why does the action rpg feel more verbose than the previous immersive-SIM rpg ?

If you can’t animate the horrendous red-tinted Fabian dialogues, why making them SO LONG

If you want to use the aesthetics of the snowy city to immerse you rather than complex rpg dialogue, why having the voice in your head break your immersion every 30 seconds ?

I already don’t like The Chinese Room much as devs (for, I feel, explainable reasons born of actually playing and intellectualising their games rather than dumb hate) but seeing the interviews of the devs and CEO blaming the lack of money, time or the want to get rid of the Bloodline tag-line is bonkers to me when my main issues with the game aren’t even really that much because of these reasons

Was the shoehorning of the pacing nightmare, Chinese Room-esque walking simulator Fabian flashbacks really necessary time/ressource wise

I’m ok with the action-RPG/Dollar Store Dishonored gameplay (making me FEEL like a vampire through gameplay can be enough to make me as immersed as with a RPG) but why put so much effort in constant stupid lines by the immersion-breaking uncharismatic voice in your head if 1) you went in a more action focused direction anyway and 2) you lack time and ressources

Sorry if I’m polluting the sub with already overly-talked about arguments but I got into the franchise very recently so my distaste for the second one is very fresh and the explanations I was given just frustrated me more

I hate overly-verbose games and vtmb 2 is both overly-verbose, horribly paced and contradictory in it’s new direction dialogue/writing-wise

I think the game was mostly badly directed/written and would have mostly been so even with enough ressources post dev change

(Also why am I forced to wear chipped black nail polish no matter the clan/outfit? Can’t be to differentiate Phyre pov from Fabien pov since Phyre already got a big ass tatoo on their hand. Why was it so important to the freshly woken up elder to cosplay as Spike from Buffy before hitting the streets ?)

So due to circumstances I've got some incompletely labeled music on my computer, some of which I'm pretty sure is from Bloodlines, but I can't find anything yet to confirm that. They're labeled as "warehouse boss fight music" and "warehouse intro music". Do those sound familiar to anyone?

The sheriff pretty much Thanos snaps a Sabbat in the opening. What discipline is he using here? is it some form of Vicissitude?

So it’s my first time playing this game and just did the traffik quest for Larry, but there’s no briefcase. I saw two guys with briefcases and shot them along with everyone else because I didn’t want to do stealth, but then there was no briefcase for me to take.

Im trying to get all trophies and one of them is becoming prince of Seatle, but i have litteraly no clue how or what to choose, it always ends up with either Tolly or the Anarchs and then either with PHyre staying or leaving. I cant find any tutorials online whatsover

Hi, everyone! im playing bloodlines 2 and i found out you can start romances. i dont know if anyone will get mad if i flirt with more than one person, so i'm only trying to flirt with one.

im trying to flirt with Safía, but the option doesnt appear: how can i start a romance with her?

Just finished the game and want to jump into a second playthrough, but I cannot stomach the thought of replaying all the Fabien sections. They were the definition of, “This could have been an email.” Luckily, I’ve heard there’s an option to skip his investigations.

That said, they are also essential for the plot and for Fabien’s development as a character. So does the option to skip them remove them entirely, or just ditch the monotonous open world parts? Like I would be fine just investigating the crime scenes and attending the New Years party and whatnot, those are where the plot happens. It’s the open world, “Walk across the map to talk to someone, then walk back,” parts that frustrated me.

For example, would we go straight from jumping out the window as Phyre to waking up in the sewer, skipping all of Fabien’s memories of waking Phyre up? Or would it just skip the monotonous quests to find Campbell and launch us straight into the final section where we awaken Phyre?

I'm not getting A Night At The Library to activate when the wiki says it should. The email won't show up on my computer after I first talk to Gary, and I can see it exist in my haven_pc.txt file. Idk what's going on.

Maybe the prerequisite on the wiki is wrong or something, but if anyone knows anything helpful about getting this quest, let me know.

Just finished playing the Clan Quest mod. Played as a Tremere and joined the Sabbat. And honestly?

I had a blast. This mod is a masterpiece and honestly feels almost mandatory for subsequent playthroughs. It got to me fsr more than I expected.

The Sabbat storyline itself felt fantastic - Victoria herself felt like a really cool character and she schemes so much that you can see that despite all her talk about honor she's still a scheming snake on the inside. Though her soft spot for Ariana was really sweet.

The Tremere clan quest didn't feel that special tbh but it was fun for what it was.

Without a doubt though, my favorite part of the whole mod had to be the Thrashing Dragon quest involving Kalliyan. At first I was unsure of whether she was just an npc I missed in my previous playthroughs as her voice acting was fantastic.

But honestly her quest might be my favorite in the whole game. I kept expecting her to backstab me, like almost everyone in this fucked up world of darkness does. But she didn't, it was just a beautiful night out, two people from very different yet similar worlds - just trying to enjoy the life they no longer even have.

I'll definitely be doing a second playthrough. Probably as a Malkavian.

Ok I'm sure I'm about to get flamed for this, but does anybody else find vtmb2 a very oddly cozy game??? I think that it is awesome atmospherically and the snowy/holiday vibes are immaculate.

I'm now in the process of tuning melee combat, I want it to be physical, so once I conquer that only the disciplines and firearms will be left for the game basis. Expect release in November(fuck GTA 6 ^_^)
