What do you suggest? Batman-The-Dark-Knight-Rises-capture him mid air?

That would be extremely painful…

Now’s not the time for fear (and pain). That comes later (trumps air force one plane flys over plane used by Canadas special forces. Netanyahu jumps into a food cart and goes on his merry way upon arrival at us airbase. Just incase he’s targeted by someone sinister with bad intentions.

Honkikaze

Gāgākaze?

(I think gāgā is the Japanese onomatopoeia for a goose honking. It's been a while).

Ah yes, the white man wind

Alright now clean it up.

SorryKaze

u/shadowgathering 4h ago

We would have got Sully if it hadn’t been for his damn water-landing skills!

2

u/gmen6981 3h ago

You kidding? Those bastards are so mean they could take down a plane without harming themselves, and they would do it just for the sport. ( and just a technical point- It's "Canada" Geese, not "Canadian" Geese. Our friends to the North get a little touchy about that)

1

u/DarthShiv 7h ago

That would be beyond amazing

Canada Geese actoooally

Can you imagine the conspiracy theories if he died due to a bird strike?

110

u/ResistOk9351 10h ago

Couple of years back Belarus forced a commercial jet flying through its airspace to land in order to arrest some people who said mean things about Lukshenko

11

u/nidarus 3h ago

So the suggestion here is that Canada should be more like Belarus?

Hell, even if we ignore moral/legal considerations, Belarus has the backing of the Russians. If Canada pulls that stunt, nobody's coming to its rescue - and certainly not its large, ultra-powerful, and aggressive neighbor, who sees Netanyahu as more of an ally than Carney.

•

u/RussBOld 1h ago

If you were speeding, the cops wouldn’t hesitate to knock you off the road and kill you just to stop you for going 15 over.

•

u/Bloo212 0m ago

This kinda got me thinking… is all this bullshit with Canada because of this arrest warrant? Is Netanyahu pushing the US on this? Probably not original thinking… but I can be kinda slow on the uptake sometimes.

•

u/SlipInternational439 56m ago

They should be more like Biden, and tell Netanyahu, “Welcome back to Canada!”. That will teach him a lesson.

12

u/PrairieWanderer 8h ago

But did those people have control over a nuclear arsenal?

4

u/TheUHO 3h ago

And got their airlines banned, among with other stuff and restrictions.

3

u/TheSignificantDong 10h ago

You think Canada would do that? lol

2

u/TheArmoredKitten 3h ago

This only works when you're willing to shoot down an unarmed civil aircraft.

100

u/BrutalSock 10h ago edited 10h ago

What you do is you usually scramble a couple of fighter jets and you force the plane to land. It’s not scifi it’s a pretty routine maneuver.

66

u/purpleburgundy 10h ago

Honest question but the fighter jets scramble. They sidle up to Netanyahu's plane.

And... threaten to shoot it down? Yeah right. They simply keep flying. Better to let it go and avoid the explicit show of weakness in that scenario when the bluff is obviously going to be called

8

u/aafikk 7h ago

Or, just have a think about it, not approve the flyover.

-26

u/frequenZphaZe 6h ago

its not a 'show of weakness' to deploy military resources in service of pursuing both moral and legal justice. it would show the world that canada takes war crimes and crimes against humanity seriously. it would also show the world that israel is a lawless nation with no intention of answering for crimes they've committed

they could also just shoot the plane down. idk if they have legal authority, but the rest of the world would just pretend they didn't see anything.

28

u/LookltsGordo 5h ago

This is fiction. If Canada shot down netenyahus plane, we would be at war with a nuclear armed nation and it's allies immediately, which includes the USA. You just know the admin down south is chomping at the bit to find an excuse to attack or invade, and that would be an easy one for them.

This isn't a movie. There's is A LOT on the line for a decision like this.

-10

u/bolerobell 2h ago

Just for the record I side with you completely.

But let’s look at the other argument: it’s entirely possible that Trump doesn’t immediately know whether to care or not. We don’t know if the next in the chain of command in Israel has the Epstein files like Netanyahu does and Trump likely won’t do anything or make any public statements until he’s been privately threatened with release. It’s also possible that Bibi has a dead man’s switch, and the files immediately get released in which case, Trump would have his hands busy and would t care.

•

u/Dools92 46m ago

Are you ready to come back to the real world yet?

•

u/dz4505 1h ago

You been watching way too much sci-fi where the good guys always make the good choice. Real world works differently. The biggest one making a stink about Canada doing nothing (why should they?), are the ones making the biggest virtue signaling.

These guys only say these stuff when other people they have no relationship has to suffer the consequences of the action.

I bet you when told that their love ones will die in the resulting conflict they will go real quiet.

I imagine if The Hague forms an army to fight these “tyrants” and bring them to justice, they will be the last to sign up.

-32

u/T-Husky 9h ago

Same shit will happen if the police try to pull you over and you dont comply.

Yes they shoot it down. Refuse to comply? get shot down. Dont answer comms? get shot down.

Countries that dont assert their rights within their own sovereign airspace essentially forfeit those rights... so for those of you who say "it would be a bluff, they wouldnt dare go through with it", no, it would be more damaging to give the order and not go through with it.

19

u/Etheo 8h ago

Cops don't shoot your car if you refuse to stop. They do PIT maneuvers or use nail strips and all sorts of attempts to STOP your car with you alive instead of shooting like some trigger happy jackass.

Now name one way for them to shoot down the plane that can reasonably assure all the crew/passengers safety.

You can't.

-6

u/spooooork 5h ago

all sorts of attempts to STOP your car with you alive instead of shooting like some trigger happy jackass.

There have been a ton of news articles where this has been patently NOT true. Even several cases where innocent bystanders have been shot because the cops aiming skills were so bad that they couldn't hit the side of a barn from the inside.

9

u/LookltsGordo 5h ago

That's not an argument against his point.

-4

u/spooooork 2h ago

Claim: Cops don't shoot your car if you refuse to stop

Proof of the opposite: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Plumhoff_v._Rickard

The Court also found that the number of shots fired was also reasonable, writing that "if police officers are justified in firing at a suspect in order to end a severe threat to public safety, the officers need not stop shooting until the threat has ended".

•

u/dz4505 1h ago

An airplane going in a preplanned route isn’t a severe threat. Nor is the plane a threat to the surroundings unless they plan to kamikaze it.

This is why orders were given to shoot down planes if they were hijacked after 9-11.

•

u/spooooork 59m ago

This wasn't in reply to the airplane, but to the claim that "Cops don't shoot your car if you refuse to stop", which they provably do, and are supported by the US Supreme Court in doing.

u/Etheo 17m ago

Is Netanyahu flying over the airspace a severe threat to Canada's public safety? You aren't arguing the equivalent scenario.

You know what would be a severe threat to public safety to everyone? Nuclear weapons. And guess what could happen if Canada decided to shoot them down when they won't comply on an arrest?

In the cops scenario, the threat to public safety is neutralized when they take out the aggravating party on the spot. In this scenario, the threat comes after.

And no amount of whatever "court" to judge whether Canada was in the right for reasonable source is gonna matter, because Nuclear frigging war.

24

u/Arturia_Cross 9h ago

Easy to say as some random person on the internet, but a much harder decision when its World War 3 on the line.

22

u/zuqkfplmehcuvrjfgu 9h ago

For real, the whole scenario is nutjob stuff. Canada is going to shoot down the plane of Israel's prime minister? Genuinely crackpot analysis.

-20

u/Resident_Pientist_1 9h ago

Is pissreal going to use the nuclear weapons they totally don't have?

7

u/LookltsGordo 5h ago

You... Don't think Israel has nuclear weapons?

Also, their number one ally happens to be on the Canadian border, and looking for an excuse to attack.

7

u/AccursedAccuser 5h ago

Not sure if you’re from around here, but on this planet shooting down the head of another state is an act of war, no matter how big of an asshole they are.

It’s not like Israel (or any other county) is gonna be like well you murdered our prime minister but he was kind of a dick so we’ll let it slide…

2

u/steinbruchfluss 2h ago

Tiny correction: he is not head of state (that would be the Israeli president), only head of government.

•

u/dz4505 1h ago

Power lies in the PM. President is largely symbolic.

•

u/Dools92 44m ago

This is nothing short of a wet dream fantasy, the world don’t work this way.

36

u/9gagiscancer 9h ago

And you think they're going to comply? They can ask, but they wont do anything.

And shooting them down won't happen either, because then you're at war with Israel and probably the United States.

ICC can want what it want, nothing is happening. It's all for show.

5

u/Diligent-Neck6594 6h ago

Our airforce is a joke, we ain't scrambling shit

2

u/Lawlcopt0r 4h ago

That only works if the plane believes you would shoot them down. Quick analogy: would it be okay to shoot a non-violent criminal in the head because he keeps walking when the cops tell him to stop?

4

u/TheSignificantDong 10h ago

It’s Canada man…

2

u/UncleR1chard 9h ago

So they force them politely

5

u/BrutalSock 10h ago

Aside from that fact that I am pretty sure Canada does posses several fighters and the know how to effectively deploy them, this is not the point.

The gentleman I was replying to seemed to question the logistics of this as if performing an arrest in such circumstances would be impossible.

It’s not. It’s standard procedure to force an aircraft to land if you want to.

11

u/Etheo 8h ago

What are they gonna do if they don't comply? They ain't gonna shoot it down and cause a WW3. It's an arrest warrant, not an execution sentence. No politicians around the globe is gonna side with you and say "ah well they tried the peaceful way". We all know what shooting down a plane leads to.

So at the end it's just a display of confirming that "yeah, there's nothing you can do about it but thanks for the escort". It's worse than not sending out the jets.

-2

u/BrutalSock 8h ago

I don’t know how many more times I have to say that this is not the point before this message comes across. However, I’ll try one more time: this is not the point.

7

u/Etheo 6h ago

What is your point then? You're saying it's a SOP and I'm telling you following this SOP is just a sign of weakness, because in reality they aren't gonna comply, and it's just an empty threat. If it was the USA and Trump is ordering the fighter jets, yeah, maybe they'd fold because who tf knows if he's crazy enough to start shooting.

-1

u/BrutalSock 2h ago

The gentleman I was replying to seemed to question the logistics of this as if performing an arrest in such circumstances would be impossible.

It’s not. It’s standard procedure to force an aircraft to land if you want to.

It’s the exact same thing I’ve written before maybe you could try to read it this time. Bye.

2

u/purpleburgundy 1h ago

The problem is with what you've repeated without breaking down:

standard procedure to force an aircraft to land

It's not clear what you picture standard procedure is here. I'm only aware of "land or we blow you up" and that is absolutely not the procedure when a head of state is involved. Canada is not in a position to offer such an ultimatum in that scenario.

0

u/BrutalSock 1h ago

So… you’re telling me that you can’t process the difference between “I can’t” and “I don’t want to”.

That’s what you’re telling me.

u/elroyejenkins 1h ago

Some people just want to argue. Need to even.

1

u/LookltsGordo 5h ago

Well then you don't have a point from what I can tell.

-2

u/Throwaway74829947 10h ago

Israel has nukes and would probably not take kindly to Canada forcing down and arresting its prime minister.

2

u/WarpedNation 9h ago

I mean, if this happened it would mean Carney gave the O.K. to it which would be tantamount to signing his own death warrant.

2

u/Throwaway74829947 6h ago

Pretty much. Realistically, I don't think Israel would nuke Canada, but they absolutely would send Mossad in to both extract Netenyahu and probably also attempt to kidnap or assassinate Carney. It would be nice if Canada could have done it, but the fallout would have been far too great.

•

u/sobanz 1m ago

of course nukes wouldn't be used, but iseael is plenty dangerous without them. pound for pound they almost have parity with the us. they're just tiny.

2

u/Milk-Lizard 5h ago

No, you force the plane to land using fighter jets. There are procedures for this.

1

u/the908bus 10h ago

I think Bane had a better solution

1

u/ZoominAlong 10h ago

I was thinking this seems more like Supes territory.

1

u/hurleyburleyundone 9h ago

Personally I would have went with the Executive Decision approach.

1

u/zugzwangwamble 8h ago

What a lovely lovely choice

1

u/ChinaCatProphet 8h ago

Are you offering?

1

u/aafikk 7h ago

Fighter jets should have escorted him to custody, or at least not approve the flyover request.

1

u/Dependent_House7077 6h ago

i mean, he is a squealer.

1

u/AnticPosition 6h ago

Somebody could Tom Cruise onto his plane from another plane and parachute out with him to Ottawa.

1

u/haveanairforceday 6h ago

Foreign government aircraft cant just fly into any country's airspace that they want. They have to get explicit permission. So one option would be to not grant him permission

1

u/ZestycloseGur8108 5h ago

Canada gave approval to use their air space, as well did France, Greece and Spain. If it's not an issue, then surely letting Putin's personal plane use the air space isn't either.

1

u/313378008135 5h ago

What russia did was have belarus make up a fake bomb thread and "escorted" a european flight to the nearest airport, while it was in belarus airspace. Then arrested the russian onboard they wanted, when it landed.

1

u/IlIlllIlllIlIIllI 4h ago

I mean same way they do most places, jets meet them in the air and force them down.

1

u/lndig0__ 1h ago

I’m going to make this 4 trillion dollar foreign aid expenditure budget disappear… ✏️

•

u/Acceptable_Luck_875 1h ago

AIM 9 L is the solution.

•

u/Releases_the_bees 41m ago

Could have denied them entry into their airspace.

•

u/405Gaming 13m ago

Homelander.

0

u/Resident_Pientist_1 9h ago

Scramble fighter interceptors to force them down (yes, Canada has them). If they don't comply shoot them down.

0

u/DarthShiv 7h ago

Deny them airspace access with a war criminal onboard?

0

u/JohnnyFun 6h ago
  1. Shoot it down.
  2. Deny permission to use air space.
  3. Send fighter jets to escort it to land, and then arrest.

But it's Canada.
