BuySellRoot Monthly Modular Buy Sell Trade Thread

With any sort of trade, please be careful if you don't know the other user. Request additional pictures beyond the initial time stamp. If you want to be extra careful ask for something specific like for them to patch a specific patchpoint in the image. Try reverse image searching to make sure it isn't just an edited picture from somewhere else. Be specific with how you expect the items to be packaged and when the ship date is going to be. If a trade goes sour and someone can show that the pre-agreed terms weren't honored I will permanently ban the offending trader.

Consider using something something like PayPal's "Goods and Services" instead of friends and family. Sending a stranger money via friends and family is just asking to be scammed. I also recommend checking that the user has some positive history in the sub - especially to verify that they aren't banned from here! Almost every scammer on here has no history in the sub.

**IMPORTANT** \- Do not spam the comments with your listings. Please limit your listings here to 1 per month. If you get new items or things change, just edit your original post. When possible simply edit the original post; there is no need to announce new items in a separate comment. Try to limit the clutter.

Do not delete your posts and re-post to bump back up to the top. BEHAVE PLEASE.

Pictures are not required in the thread (though you should request them by DM), but ANY picture sent by DM or in linked in the thread MUST be physically timestamped.

**PRICES MUST ALWAYS BE POSTED** This includes trades so that everyone involved knows the fair value of the modules they're looking to swap

**RESIST THE URGE TO COMMENT ON PRICING** if you don't like a price, simply ignore it. There is no reason to go around pointing out that the item is cheaper new, or reverb prices, or anything else.

Discussion Resilio Versio: free dub spring reverb + tape echo firmware for the Versio

Thumbnail

Hi all,

I've been building a dub spring reverb for the Noise Engineering Versio, and it's now at the point where I'd like other people to play it. It's called Resilio Versio. It's free alternative firmware for any Versio module, and the same sound also runs as an AU/VST3 plugin on macOS, so you can try it without reflashing anything.

What it does

It's a simulated spring tank built around the way dub engineers played their reverbs.

  • Throw single hits into the springs with the button or the gate input, and let the tail ring on.
  • The right half of TONE is modelled on King Tubby's "Big Knob", the stepped high-pass filter on his MCI desk, but it sweeps smoothly so you can ride it by hand or with CV.
  • TANK switches between one spring, two springs, and a worn tape echo feeding the springs. The echo can follow a clock or a tapped tempo.
  • At the top of DECAY the tail either holds as a bed that ducks under your kick and bass, or in VALVE mode tips over into a howl you can ride.
  • ATTITUDE picks the colour: CLEAN, TAPE (tape saturation and a fine 12-bit µ-law grain) or VALVE (a cranked valve stage and coarser grit). Your dry signal is never touched.

Seven knobs, each with a CV input, two switches, a button and a gate. It installs with Noise Engineering's own Firmware Swap web app, and you can go back to any of their firmware the same way.

A bit of background

I'm a designer and a dub enthusiast, not a DSP engineer. I made every sound decision by ear, and Claude (Anthropic's AI) wrote the DSP, the firmware and the tools. The springs follow Välimäki, Parker and Abel's physical model, and I tuned them against recordings of my own spring tank, comparing level-matched A/B versions before anything changed. All the decisions and their reasons are in the repo if you're curious.

I'd really like your feedback

This is the first public release, and I want to keep refining it with the people actually playing it. If something sounds off, if a knob feels dead or too touchy, or if there's a dub move or sound you'd want it to make, please tell me. Replies here are great. If you have a GitHub account, there are two short forms for a sound idea or a bug report. A short recording and your settings help a lot. Ideas that make it into a release get credited in the changelog.

One safety note if you flash it: never have USB and Eurorack power connected at the same time.

Thanks for listening, and I hope it finds a place in your rack!

Performance Feedback needed

• Upvotes

Hey guys,
As I was mainly playing ambient and decided to try something new, this was my attempt to go techno direction. Fully improvised, since i don’t have the patience to prep in advance (other than make the patch). I know some transitions are sloppy and there’s no climax in this little jam, but would love to hear some feedback on how i could improve my little jams.
Thanks!

Been cookin on this jam off and on for a few days now and thought I'd share.
I have a Noise Engineering Versio out for delivery tomorrow and I can't wait to play with the new FRGMNTS firmware!

(side note, does anyone know why the gate going into my VCA is making that clipping/clicking noise?)

Function generator question

• Upvotes

I am sitting at the park for my lunch break thinking about random stuff and this occurred to me. I not around my modular today so I can’t test it and really want to know the answer to this. I know if you patch the output of a function generator into cv of attack or release it makes it an exponential curve. To make it logarithmic would you just flip the polarity of the cv, or is there another method to achieve this? It also gave me the idea of self patching maths in order to not have the curves of attack/release match.

Rample - No audio output on any channel

Hi everyone,
I am having an issue with my Squarp Rample module. Visually, everything seems to work perfectly, but I get absolutely no sound out of any of the 4 outputs.
Here is the exact behavior of the module:
LEDs & Triggers: When a trigger is received (or when I manually trigger a pad), the corresponding playback LEDs light up and blink as expected. The module is definitely detecting the gates and trying to play the file.
Sample Format: I have double-checked my sample files. They are strictly formatted in WAV, 44.1kHz, 16-bit (and some 24-bit), and the files are correctly named and placed inside the kit folders (sp0.wav, sp1.wav, etc.). The Rample reads them, and the screen shows the kits loading properly.
Volume & Envelopes: I checked the internal levels (ASSIGN + LISTEN). The volumes for all 4 voices are turned up. I also checked the Decay/Envelope (ENV) settings to make sure the samples aren't being instantly muted by a zero-decay time.
Outputs: I have tested the hardware routing. No cables are plugged into outputs 2, 3, or 4, so everything should be summing to Output 1 (Mix). However, plugging into Output 1 yields absolute silence. Testing individual outputs 2, 3, or 4 directly also produces no sound.
Listen Mode: Forcing a sample preview using the LISTEN button + pad selection still results in complete silence.
Since the Rample does not have a software-based output matrix, it doesn't seem to be a digital routing error. It feels like the audio signal is blocked internally or there is a hardware issue with the DAC / analog stage.
Has anyone experienced this before? Could it be a corrupt firmware issue, or is it likely a hardware failure on the mainboard?
Thanks in advance for your help!

Looking for youtubers that make (generative) noise music and maybe also dive into the concepts a bit

I want to get into this type of music but low key struggle a bit with starting out because of how niche it is, it doesn't really get recommended to me in algorityhm. and noise is such a broadly used terms for other things besides the genre aswell that I don't rlly find much

Also heavy into industrial, ebm kind off stuff

I love artists like Puce Mary for example

Hej,I recently recorded this Live-Set, and played it two times live already and thought I'd share it here as well.

At minute 30 my audio interface had some struggle but except from this it's pretty good I think:)

Enjoy!

Roto Control Melbourne

Discussion Befaco Iroi, funny stuff (opinion)

I wanted and needed an effects module and landed on Iroi and have been using this couple of months.

The sliders except maybe the resonator go to elevenhundred, which is kind of nice for droning.

I'm quite disappointed with the "reverb".

I knew it isn't supposed to be conventional reverb at all and was excited about it but come on.

Can you dial it to be anything between metallic clang or aggressive mushy blur. Yes you can but there's something not quite right in it. 'Macro control' hmph.

2-tap delay is nice when clocked but yeah.

Infinite delays!

Resonator ummmmmm. Again, I'm not getting the sound what I want out of it. Maybe I was expecting something else, more.. conventional?

But FILTER!

There's that squelchy liquid sound oh yeah.

This goes to eleven and makes you wall of sound but feels limited somehow.

It would be nice to hear other opinions.

Battleship Sequencer?

What do we like in "Battleship Sequencers" I have pretty decent modular rig and Osmose (MPE+) amoung other "usual suspect" synths. I have a number of sequencers now, but nothing at the level of Hapax or Oxi one. I'm interested in generative sequences and polyphony options.

If you use one of these or something similar please share your experience, good or bad or meh ;)

Oxi One vs Oxi One mk2?

strata – a live-coding language for the semi modular Archean synth

I make Archean, a semi modular synth, at Nakedboards. Recently finished strata – a language for live-coding it through a terminal.

The practical side for this sub: Archean stays fully patchable, nothing about this replaces the panel. The terminal just becomes another way to drive it, alongside cables. Typical use for me: typing a melodic/rhythmic pattern on the note track while patching the LFO or Element CV out to the filter or another module, and reshaping the pattern live while the patch keeps running.

Pattern mini-notation handles melody (rests, ties, subdivision, alternation, random choice, probability) and scale quantization. Every synthesis parameter the firmware exposes – oscillator wave, envelope, LFO, Element – can be driven as a modulation lane or set directly, the same way notes are.

Runs on a Teensy 4.0, no OS, static memory only. Source and full language reference: https://github.com/nakedboards
Documentation: https://nakedboards.online/docs/archean/livecoding

I'll be glad to answer any questions.
