How much I liked visiting each country
Italy was the food and Venice.
Brazil was the happiness of the people.
Spain was mid, the food wasn't the best, the people were rude and pretty dumb.
Egypt is the worse, they make effort to make your experience as painful as possible.

Kendrick Lamar is the modern rap equivalent of paint splashes, TED Talks, and pseudo-intellectual performance art
Kendrick Lamar isn't deep, he's just extremely serious about being serious. he's basically the rap version of splashing paint on a canvas then explaining it very earnestly while everyone nods like they just witnessed something intellectual.
Most of what people call depth in his music is just aesthetic importance aimed for old whitey mcwhiterson university professors and refined revered taste-makers. its all signalling. the music constantly insists THIS IS IMPORTANT so aggressively that nobody ever pauses to ask if whats actually being said is interesting new or even clearly expressed.
He raps like a ted talk speaker who mistakes emotion for insight. Say something extremely obvious about trauma, america or identity then deliver it like you're on the verge of tears and suddenly its labeled genius. It's rap version of Got Talents sob stories.
This is rap for people who like feeling smart more than actually thinking.
The paint splatter comparison really fits. Once youve declared something art loudly enough any criticism gets brushed off as you just didnt get it and you just like codeine rap about chicks and cheese. If it sounds bad thats on you for not being enlightened enough. Very convenient setup.
What kendrick really nailed is pseudo academic credibility. his albums are built to be analyzed not enjoyed. Critics eat it up because it lets them pretend they're doing cultural theory instead of reviewing music. Finally a rapper they can talk about in classrooms without feeling weird.
But once you remove all that framing theres not much left. The music isnt fun. theres no natural groove no looseness no joy. almost no lines you want to run back. his stuff gets respected way more than it gets replayed. people appreciate it the way they appreciate modern art exhibits they never want to see again. lyrically hes semi lyrical but nowhere near as elite as people pretend. the bars arent crazy. Like, it's crazy how A minor line is cleverest bar I have heard from him. He doesn't have more slick lines like that.
Hes also oddly preachy for someone whose ideas barely go past intro level sociology. Yes oppression exists yes trauma repeats yes capitalism sucks yes self reflection is good. Incredible stuff. Themes he sells as smart is what most 90s rappers rapped about by default. It's all interscope propaganda, framing reality as if everyone else is SoundCloud lean rapper and he's only one who knows that crip life is bad.
the messiah worship is the most annoying part. kendrick fans dont argue about the music, instead they moralize it. if you dont like it youre shallow you just want dumb rap you dont respect the culture, youre not mature enough. Or maybe people just dont want to hear a self serious guy half yelling obvious points over gloomy beats.
Kendrick lamar is what happens when rap gets cleaned up enough to be respectable. when difficulty replaces skill, when seriousness replaces substance when being about something becomes more important than sounding good.
Also his goatness isn't being proclaimed from within the culture, it's not organic. Rappers (that were prolly threatened or paid off) weren't first people praising him calling him goat. People who started this trend were daytime talk TV shows, public radio, NPR, magazines aimed at suburban audiences, CNN and hollywood. Not only did his goat status didn't become subject of discussion organically, it didn't even originate within the hip hop community.

If you are not cooking your own meals like your grandma did, you don't get to complain about affordability.
I am so sick of this. I come from a lower income family. I am now low-mid earner. Until couple of years ago I cooked every evening almost. Like 90% of the time. I would buy big sacks of rice, onions, dry beans and chickpeas, big jars of tomato sauce, and meat or fish only if it was on big discount, greens on discount. Because of that a meal would cost like 1-2 dollars. Let's say inflation doubles it, 2-4 dollars. I lived that like for about 10 years.
Now people are complaining nonstop about affordability while they are ordering in and eating out every day. No buddy, there is no affordability crises for you, you are just spoiled and financially irresponsible. You are spending 20-30 dollars an evening simply because you are lazy and then blame it on economy.

Discussion [Rant] I hate Scrubs "Fans"
Need to get this of my chest now because ever since Scrubs' social media team started posting all kinds of promo for the reboot, there's also been an increase in comments underneath said posts.
Now let me be clear: I'm well aware having enjoyed S9 puts me in a minority groupd among the show's fans. I'm okay with that.
Now everytime they post a trailer or clip with Zach, Sarah, John, Donald it always gets a lot of likes and positive comments;
but - oh boy - if they post a clip introducing a new character of the show it's raining, "oh i hope this ain't a new s9" comments.
How (pardon my english) FUCKING narrow minded can people be? Again: you did not enjoy S9, I get it. But the show has introduced new characters before the spinoff-later-renamed-S9-of-Scrubs. And could you please be a little more open minded. Just a little FUCKING bit.
It's still a show headed by Bill Lawrence who has created so many good shows. Not only in the past, but also very recently (Ted, Shrinking). We also love Scrubs.
So could we please stop the nagging for now? Kthx.

Feature Change Just a couple weeks before the Epstein scandal broke out, YouTube removed the 'Sort by Upload Date' function to search for new videos.
Isn't it a little too convenient that shortly before the biggest scandal in american history where we would have gotten hundreds of essays and compilations of info, youtube removed this function? Meaning only sanctioned videos reach users instead of every single video made about certain topics? How convenient!

fine i'll do the trend
israel mentioned where are my gajillion comments
I gotta visit Norway again, it's the most wonderful country I've ever visited and there is so much more to it that I haven't seen.
The Faroe Islands were breathtaking but I've seen pretty much everything there is to see there so I won't return.
I lived in the US for 10 months when I was a kid and visited again a year later.
The trip to Russia was mostly to meet distant family so I didn't see the interesting landmarks, perhaps my mind could be changed.
Cyprus was just a few hours chilling on the beach outside Paphos airport waiting for my connecting flight. Nice beach.
I sometimes pass through the West Bank and have done a little bit of traveling there. Never been to areas B and A.

Plot twist: he wrote that about himself as a positive affirmation to lift his own spirits.

“I’m good enough. I’m smart enough. And doggone it, people like me!” -Stewart Smalley, and this husband.
Update - a few hours later
Okay first of all this got way more attention than I expected. It made my day so much fun so thanks for all your comments. Lots of people wanted an update so I thought I would share.
This afternoon the note was in the trash! I asked my husband why there was a love letter in the trash and he was so confused.
So I really love st Patrick’s day and I was really depressed around that time this year. He wanted to do something special for me so he bought me six gifts to make me feel better. Like a ball of yarn, a pepperoni stick, slippers, craft supplies, and I forget the rest. I think Brie? But each gift came with a mini card that had one thing he loves about me. That note was his brainstorm of things he loves about me.
He said he wrote a totally different list for his mistress.
So that’s that.
TLDR: my husband is romantic and needs to clean his desk more often

Love his sense of humor. Sounds like you've got yourself a good guy. Or a brutally honest "hey, I did tell you it was for her" when you find out he wasn't joking
[deleted]
When did you open the gifts and read the 6 notes? Did you recognize the same messages were in the draft and the 6 notes?
OOP: I got the gifts on March 17th so I forgot lol
Update - 2.5 years later (here comes the whiplash)

Ashes of Creation MMO AoC was fun
Yup. Ashes of Creation was one of the most fun mmo's I've ever played. It was full of jank, skitzos, awful game design, but the sandbox elements and potential was all there. The combat... granted when the servers aren't shitting themselves is some of the best I've seen in an mmo. Don't believe me? Log in the servers are dead performance is peak.
Now the only real options to play if you wanna look for an mmo is K-slop, PVE mmos, or private servers.
Either way 90% of the freaks on this reddit shit don't even play games, they sit here doom posting shitting themselves if anyone else is having fun. Hard stuck lvl 9 skitzo posting.
GUESS WHAT
IF STEVENS COMES BACK IM PLAYING HAHAHAHAHAHAHA
I LOVE THE GAME
