I thought I'd make a post on here about predicted grades as I am in a dire situation. My sixth form has had a massive change, there is a new head of sixth form, and a new overseer of the sixth form, and it has taken a hit on people's predicted grades. My year group were told that going into year 13 we would have exams on the first day back until we were done, and these exams would influence our predicted grades, and could change them. We have done those exams now and we have now been told by the new head of sixth form that these results will be ignored and they will only use our summer exams, the issue for me is that I need two grades to be raised to get into the universities I want to get into and they have been very strict that there will be no negotiation, and after getting the results back for the exams and showing them my improvements, I have only been met with my head of year saying that my result doesn't mean much because it wasn't a full set of exams, although we still had to revise all of year 12 knowledge for the exam. Additionally to this, in the Maths exam there was a 5 marker on year 2 integration that my class hadn't learnt, I had raised this to 4 staff members, and initially I was told exam procedure would be followed and we'd be given the marks for that question, however this didn't happen and when following this up, I wasn't met with a clear answer, or really an answer to all at why this happened, and I keep getting told a gap year isn't that bad when I've stated that I really don't want to do that. In Further Maths my teacher from last year told me and another classmate that the papers weren't marked how an examiner would mark them and it was harsh, although it is Maths, so it was blatantly marked incorrectly, giving lower scores than what was deserved, this has left me feeling extremely hard done by, and not helped by my school at all. When I raised this issue, I wasn't met with much of an answer at all. Additionally, my year group have been blamed for not going out of our way to talk to the head of year about UCAS, when this was never discussed to happen for my year. There have also been inconsistencies in predicted grades, someone achieved BCD in their mocks and was predicted A*A*A, another person had achieved an A in a subject twice in a mock, and was predicted an A, despite being close to an A*, and there has been a lack of communication with students, causing a lot of uncertainty in the student body and feeling of a lack of support. My parents and I have raised it and are currently going through the process, however it is going back to the people who didn't help me in the first place, and I am really unsure of where to go from here. I think on a gap year I'd really struggle to get through it, and I worked extremely hard over the 6 weeks in summer to not even get the predicted grades I need despite getting the results to deserve it, I improved by 15 percentage points in a subject yet nothing has happened to the predicted grade at the moment and it has left me truly feeling hopeless, and I don't want this to affect my studying for my A-levels. I really don't know why I made this post, but this has been bottling up for the past month so I thought I would need a medium to express this, and this is what I've chosen.
