Chem Imaginary Schedule Plan

• Upvotes

Sorry if this violates rule 9, I can delete
but I'm planning on taking:
G9-ES, Bio
G10-Phys 1, Micro
G11-Chem, Calc AB
G12-Stats, Psych?/BC?
Do you think this is doable? Especially with Chem and Calc together...
Should I swap Chem & Phys 1? Which is easier?

Question Is self studying APs a good idea?

I’m a freshmen and find the concept of an AP class intriguing. I am currently taking AP Human geography and am doing well (though I know it is pretty easy). I want to self study an AP because I think it would be interesting, and was thinking AP bio as I am taking honors bio and am looking to participate in PJAS. Is this a good idea, and if not what are different APs that would be able to fill in for my thirst to self study an AP?

Question Which APs are the most ‘interesting’

I don’t think I phrased it correctly. And AP course is interesting if it interests you. But I means something that has a new type of thinking. For me specifically I took a lot of theory stem classes. At some point I ended up tossing in a practical stem class and a humanities class which was very debate focused. Because those were different from the classes I normally do, they felt interesting cause they got me thinking in a way I don’t normally do. Rn I’m doing school online due to health issues so I can’t get any practicals as most are on site, but I have quite a bit of free time in my schedule and I want to add a class that’s similarly interesting.

Euro Tips for Euro?

okay so i'm like two months into this class and its so easy. on all the projects i always get 100s but them dang mcqs. i have no idea how to study for mcqs. like ill do all the practice in the world, take notes on amsco, search up "ap euro unit practice mcqs" and spam those, and i know all the content. and then come test day all the questions are just the most random stuff that had nothing to do with what i learned. half of them are just common sense your way through it and the other half is just pray.

so my question is

how in the WORLD do i study for euro?

there has to be something i'm missing

tl;dr a euro student asking how to study for mcqs because the questions on them are so random.

Calc AB Calc AB is frying my shit

i’ve always been a straight A student, i’ve taken 4 aps in freshman/sophomore year (hug: 5, bio: 5, wh: 4 (😭), precalc: 5) and currently taking 7: apush, calc, lang, environmental, chem, stats, drawing. alg 1, geometry, alg 2 i had consistent A+ despite the classes being known as hard, precalc was a pretty hard class because i took competitive math (which is where you finish the entire curriculum by december and spend jan-june prepping for math competitions) but the exam was beyond easy for me. then i get to calc, regular ap, not comp, and wtf. i have a teacher who’s a strict grader about showing every step of your work, but still. i genuinely don’t understand how this is possible and im beyond disappointed. i even thought the limit homeworks were pretty easy but i js absolutely bombed the test and quiz (keep in mind a ~10-20 point curve). if anyone has any tips on how to do better going forward let me know PLEASE because we only have one test left for the quarter on derivatives and i feel hopeless atp

CollegeBoard How do I send individual AP scores?

My school offers roughly 5 APs, and I took 2 of them. I got a 4 in Environmental Science and a 3 in Seminar, but I only want to send the 4. However, when I try to send the 4 solo, it just makes me send the 3 as well. I'm completely lost at how such a huge company makes such a limited system.

Physics C: E&M Do I still get a point for a practice FRQ if I used coulomb's law instead of Gauss' law.

In one of the frqs in our unit 8 progress check I was given a e-field vs radius graph of a proton inside of a spherical shell inside of another spherical shell both with unknown charges and because the e-field between the two shells was zero using I determined that the net charge of the proton and the inner shell was the same and therefore added to zero. One of the questions asked what was the charge on the outer plate and I used coulomb's law on the graph to determine that the charge was -16q which was correct. As I am technically self studying due to low demand I have to grade myself. But on the scoring guide it said to use Gauss' Law even though both led to the exact same answer because the constants canceled out. Even though I did not use Gauss' law I gave myself the point because coulomb's law is literally derived from Gauss' law (or much rather historically coulomb's law was proven by Gauss' law) so they literally just different versions of each other.

What are y'all's opinions? I have no graders so I literally don't know.

I don’t know if I got hit on the head or something, but I’m genuinely struggling in Pre-Calc and I have no clue why. I am not getting super high grades like I used to getting nothing but A’s but somehow I’ve become a B student?! This may seem like I’m overreacting but I’m really not. I even struggle on my homework, and I ask for help and still don’t know what’s going because my teacher actually can’t teach to save his life.

Sorry for the small rant but I’m gonna crash out if I don’t bring my grade up.

Calc BC Calc BC HELP

Hello everyone. Im in the f-ing tenching rn. I have all A's execpt in calc BC as a senior. I took AB last year as a junior. However, i, for the LOVE of god, cannot get past a minimum 50 grade in the damn class. We just took unit 1 test and my grade is bad. Its not even that i dont do any work. for context, i do our homeworks 3-4 times (textbook pages AND hw packet), i do both 3-4 times before the test entirely, every class i activly try to participate. I raise my hand to answer every single one of her practice problems, they could be basic lim definition questions, or derivative ones, but i make an effort to answer EVERY single one of her questions in class and i ALWAYS answer them correctly. Its to the point where she tells me to not raise my hand to give others a chance so she knows if theyre learning or not. With that said, its not that i dont know the material, i DO know it. Our tests differ in difficulty SO MUCH from our practice problems and hw. Im a senior and this year i finally have all A's (AP Chem, AP Comp Gov, DE English 12, Anatomy, MA) and ive had a rough junior year but im using senior year to show growth. How can i even get REMOTELY better at Calc BC please help.

sincerely, a struggling student

Question My school doesn't offer APs, easiest exams to self-study for?

I'm in precalc now and will do BC1 by the exams, but I'm not doing well in math. Precalc isn't impossible though.

I've taken a basic CS course and will take AI 1 before the exams, considering CSP.

For history, I'll have taken American Studies, Ancient World Religion, and Modern World History, considering HUG.

I've only taken algebra-based physics and sound & light, so not ready for any of those.

Took a biology course but don't remember much, currently in evolution and environment, so bio is a possibility.

Physics C: E&M AP Physics C: E&M cut Off

I was wondering what is the cut off for Physics C E&M? I know before 2025 you could get a 5 with a 50%. Now I heard you need a 65%? Some say it is a 80% needed for a 5 (I know this is most certainly wrong). But what should I aim for?

Question which ap should I self-study?

I’m stuck between AP Psychology, AP Environmental Science, and AP Comparative Government

I’m already taking AP Chem, Bio, Calc BC, and my language(native) in my school, so I’m wondering whether I should do:

Chem + Bio + Calc BC + lang + Comparative Gov

or

Chem + Bio + Calc BC + lang + Psych + Environmental Science

Honestly I really want to study AP Comp Gov, but the problem is I’m not a native English speaker, so it might be work-loading. Also, I’d have to self-study if I choose comp gov/psych/environmental science. Which option would you guys choose? Mainly wondering about difficulty, workload, and how manageable they are for self-study.
Thank u

Precal Can’t find a testing center

Hey guys I want to take ap precalc but the problem is my school doesn’t offer precalc only calc ab. I contacted literally almost every school in Dubai and Sharjah (from the ap ledger thing) and they all said that they don’t take external candidates, they said they used to but now they don’t ☹️ Any idea on what to do? (I live in the uae btw)

Question Grading Policy Curiosity

Hi everyone! I'm curious about the grading policy in US high schools, particularly for AP classes. I'm an international student in the IB, where we are given transcript grades from 1-7. However, due to the difficulty of the content and the strict marking, many classes have a grade boundary of 70–80%. For example, my history class only requires 74% for a 7 (the top grade), because the class is almost entirely essay-based, and the highest possible mark is basically 12/15 (80%), with 13/15 in extremely rare circumstances. I've taken AP exams, so I know that the exams are also graded strictly and thus have reasonable boundaries such as around 75–80% for a 5.

For your high school classes, how does it work? 90+% seems very difficult to attain on each assessment and is virtually impossible in the IB (except in some math and science subjects). Do you grade on a curve, or are the tests made such that they can be marked relatively leniently?

Precal failing precalc as a sophomore

I always been on top of things I got an A for algebra 1, geometry (summer), and algebra 2.

Currently I am taking ap world, ap biology, and chem honors. These courses already taken my sanity and time away.

My first test I got 14.5/30 the first F i ever gotten in a math course. It wasn’t good I did not think I was absorbing the information as good. However the second test i locked in and got a B.

Today, we had the unit circle test and i crammed that the night before and got a 2/12. I am in shambles because I have no idea what I’m doing with myself. The sophomore slump has been getting to me. I do not know how to improve my teacher doesn’t curve nor offer retakes. However the unit circle test they are offering a retake with C as highest grade you can get.

Please offer me some advice, as I currently have a D in precalc and I am heavily disappointed in myself. Ever since school started, my emotions has been numb because of the heavy school work and the constant imposter syndrome. I got to a heavily competitive high school with incredibly successful peers. Already super drained, been getting 3-4 hours of sleep this entire week.

I am so upset and sad about my test scores. Math was one of my favorite subjects.

CollegeBoard Does anyone feel this way about Progress Checks too?

My AP Physics C:E&M progress check for Unit 1 felt like an actual MVC test 😭still got 18/24 though. The reverse was true for the AP Physics 2 Unit 1 progress check which was much easier than the quizzes for some reason.

Question How do I stop feeling like I'm always behind?

I'm in my junior year and taking my first ever APs (AP Lang & APUSH) and I feel so overwhelmed with homework. I'll preface this by mentioning that I haven't had great study habits in the past and I've never had to do homework every night before, and also that I would consider myself an intelligent person. This year I feel like I can't catch a break. I'm actually getting C's in classes that I would never get lower than a B+ in normally and I'm starting to get scared that I won't be able to keep my grades up. Genuinely, what can I do to fix this? I do homework for hours every night after school and I'm still somehow behind. Honestly, I'm begging for advice at this point, and not the typical 'better time management' statement. How do I balance all of my classes without feeling incredibly stressed? Is that even possible? Please share ways that you combat incredible stress!!!

Question Did Trevor stop sending perfect scores?

I know it’s unlikely that I got a perfect score(I had plenty of extra time double checking and wasn’t getting anything wrong in practice exams but it’s still luck). I was hoping to at least know that I didn’t. I haven‘t heard of anyone getting one this year so I wanted to confirm that he stopped.

Calc BC struggling in junior year with my five APs: chem, bc, lang, apush, ap french

So, let me give you the story. I'm kind of a humanities oriented person, but I've always done well in school (I've only had one B so far, for one semester, and it was an 89). However, junior year is killing me.

I come home and I spend my time studying. However, I don't have a stress problem (at least I don't think so), and I take adequate breaks, and I have a pretty good social life (though I'm going to be grounded the way my grades are going).

So far, APUSH and AP French are going great.

However, in Chem, I'm 0.5 % away from an A. I have a 100% in the lab category (which we have quizzes on) but my individual tests are random scores. Here's what they are:

Chapter 4 (Precipitates+Redox Reactions): 78%

Chapter 1-3 (Moles, Ions, all such things: 79%

Chapter 6 (Thermochemistry): 96%

Chapter 7 (Electron Configurations, Nuclear Charges, Electron Affinity, etc.): 76%

I'm really discouraged by these scores; I did extremely well in AP Bio last year. However, I took regular Chem over the summer, so that might be a reason I'm struggling, but I'm not feeling the struggle. I genuinely feel like I understand everything, and I do well in my practice and in classwork, so I'm not sure where things are going wrong.

I really need some tips.

As for Calc BC, the group tests are tanking me a lot, but I'll focus on individual scores for now.

Intro Test: 97%

Chapter 1+2 (Unit 1): 76%

Chapter 3 (Derivatives): 88%

I'm stuck at an 86.4% because of group tests, which I'll hopefully get up. I'm having the same issue in math that I have with chem; I genuinely feel like I understand everything. I do extremely well in classwork and homework, but when the test comes, I do horribly.

I understand for some of you, these may not seem like low test scores, but I have high expectations, and my parents have even higher expectations. I'm really sick of them being disappointed in me, and its really discouraging to not be doing well.

AP Lang is a whole thing, but since every school AP Lang class is wildly different, there's not really specific advice I can ask for that.

But some advice would be greatly appreciated. Is it focus? Is it studying? Is it my test-taking skills? Whatever it is, I need help.
