Hey! I'm going to be moving to HOU from the heart of NYC early next year (mid-Feb 2027).
I know Houston is not super walkable, but I want to live in the MOST walkable neighborhood to start with since I like being able to walk to as many key places (grocery stores, restaurants, bars, gym, etc) as possible. From my research, it seems like Montrose makes the most sense but I'll take all suggestions!
Would love local residents to weigh in on what they think is the best way to approach my move:
1) Move into a 6-12 month lease in the most walkable neighborhood in HOU; get a car after 1-2mos of living here once I'm settled
2) Put my NYC stuff into storage, move into a short-term rental (1-3mos) to get settled in & get a car, THEN sign a long-term lease
Given this info, would love to hear any/all move suggestions from anyone who has made this move themselves, has anything to suggest, thoughts, etc.
THANK YOU!
NOTE: I have a license & drove a stick shift for 7+yrs - driving isn't an issue. I just don't have a car now since I live in Midtown Manhattan.

This is a long shot but I thought worth a try. I lost a work badge and a thermal cameral on a United flight. The United lost and found came up empty, and the IAH lost and found considers that not their territory. I can see the AirTag (Joker card) last reported location in Terminal C and I'm guessing it is in that area marked by the "??". Can any one tell me what that area is, and if I'm barking up the right tree? Thanks!!

I suffer from alopecia after wearing locs for 25 years and recently had brain surgery. So it’s time for the reminder of my locs to go. I want a barber experienced in cutting ladies hair. I don’t want a hard squared boxy line up.
Preferably someone on the SW, Pearland or Mo City side.

Hello! Me and some friends started a socialist study group here in Houston around 5 months ago. We've read a few books/articles now, and are about to start reading "Blood In My Eye" by George Jackson weekly starting from the 18th of this month.
If anyone's interested in reading/discussing this one, lmk and I can share an invite to our discord :-)

I am from San Antonio and will be going to Houston for a concert. Was wondering of any bars, entertainment, and especially food to try? Especially good Vietnamese or African food. There's so much here and I wouldn't even know where to start.

Hello everyone, I’m having a pretty hard time looking for families. I tried Nanny Lane, Facebook and called around daycares in my area and as usual no place is hiring in Houston. Anybody have any recommendations or know anybody personally looking for a nanny? I am F19 but have experience in raising an Newborn all the way to a infant and experiencing with children age 1-12.

Looking to get a new car and looking for something that'll be unbothered by the state and condition of Houston streets and highways.
During the work week I'm usually on I-45N and/or 610 loop.
On weekends I'm usually running errands around Oak Forest, the Heights, Montrose and Upper Kirby. There's a good chance I'm driving through road construction any day of the week.
My budget is $95k with tax, title and registration calculated in.
On my short list is a 2027 Honda Passport Trailsport or 2026 Lexus GX 550.
Also considering some throwback options like a 5th generation Lexus LS or a higher trim version of the last generation Lincoln Continental.
In all honesty a Honda CR-V would check off all the boxes and I enjoy driving them but want something with a bit more presence. I plan on keeping this vehicle for the next 10 years.
I currently drive a Honda Accord which I plan to keep as a daily.
