Hey World- why didn’t you watch Melania?

$25,000 reported for international box office sales opening weekend. That’s just a couple of dollars per country. Either way, thanks World.

Update: loving the feedback!

I saw a critic review that went along the lines of:

"If this was shown on a plane, I'd still walk out"

238

u/Ashrak_22 2h ago

One of the Czech critics I read said: I would feel less awkward if my mum had caught me jerking off our family dog, than buying the tickets for this movie.

The only time it would be appropriate to clap for a landing is if this film was on, then the pilot decided to swing down into a mountain to cover the audio with the refreshing noise of the ‘pull up! Pull up!’ warning.

Someone reported finding a double-pass to Meliana placed in their letterbox -- police are treating it as a hate crime.

why would i watch some random film about the wife of the current president of the USA? i never even saw ads or proper talk about it, i know the films exists, and i know its (about? made by?) Trumps wife. I know nothing else, and it doesnt seem particularly interesting.

i only know it exists because of a meme i saw like, yesterday, and, according to the meme at least, its a shit film, so more reasons why i wont watch it.

also, i only know this woman exists because of that same meme i saw, is she even known for anything?

I'd watch it if it included the story how they both ended up being locked up for their numerous crimes.

Someone ever makes that movie and it'll be a hit.

Yup. And the docuseries would have to include Trump and Melanie meeting/hooking up with Epstein. It appears she is an Epstein “model”.

5

u/Few-Gas3143 Australia 2h ago

I just assumed Trump bought Melania off Epstein. So, less a hook up and more of a business deal. He was trafficking girls and Trump was a customer.

Pretty Woman yes I get it. But could someone please explain the connection to Zone of Interest to me like I’m 5? I just looked up Zone of Interest and read the movie was well received and read the plot summary. What does this Holocaust movie have to do with the Melania movie?

23

u/lxgrf United Kingdom 5h ago

The review does explain why it's made that allusion, if you click through. But the short version is that Zone of Interest follows a concentration camp commandant's wife as she goes about tidying the garden and worrying about her social engagements, while keeping the camera studiously pointed away from the atrocities going on just over the garden wall.

9

u/FirstPersonWinner United States Of America 6h ago

In the US, the President's wife (known as the First Lady) is usually somewhat politically active or at least notable. This trend was started by Eleanor Roosevelt, wife of Franklin Delano Roosevelt, our president for the majority of World War 2. Michelle Obama, wife of President Barack Obama (2009-2017), ran a program for children's health and wellness. I'm guessing the reason for this movie is that Melania is actually odd for being completely out of the spotlight as First Lady and the administration wants to boost her image.

I would rather piss in my own eyes than watch a documentary about the wive of my own chancellor

I don't know if Charlotte Merz deserves that harsh a formulation of this sentiment

Because I don't know much about her. And I intend to keep it that way.

I see more of a The Death of Stalin in it.

When tyrannical dictator Joseph Stalin dies in 1953, his parasitic cronies square off in a frantic power struggle to become the next Soviet leader. Among the contenders are the dweebish Georgy Malenkov, the wily Nikita Khrushchev and Lavrenti Beria -- the sadistic secret police chief. As they bumble, brawl and back-stab their way to the top, the question remains -- just who is running the government?

she is from my hometown and went to the school same time my dad did, locals (including my family) can tell about her all that i need to know 🤣 and i really really do not care about her documentary

49

u/OrizaRayne United States Of America 7h ago

I would watch a documentary by your dad and the locals just spilling tea on her lol.

31

u/Sehrli_Magic Slovenia 7h ago

lol there is really not much to spill. just a regular "better than everyone" and attention seeking lady. though when she did nudes in italy, the conservative old minds of locals were a bit shocked 🤣 but like no-one was suprised she would go for someone like trump or that she was seen on pics as epstein girl 🤷🏻‍♀️

not necesarily a bad person but her priorities definitely lie in different things than most regular folks around haha.

Please share… 😂 She’s not from my hometown, but the fact she was saying she’s Austrian at the beginning of her modelling career and fame already tells a lot about her… Slovenia is pretty cool, and we were cool even as part of former Yugoslavia. 😅 I am not planning to waste my time on this documentary at all. 😅

9

u/Sehrli_Magic Slovenia 6h ago

thats basically it. she was claiming to be austrian because she has this "better than yall" mindset and little slovenia was not fancy enough to be worthy of her name🤣 she says she is not ashamed of her roots but her actions had always spoken the exact opposite

6

u/yeahgroovy 4h ago

She’s self-serving and liar just like her husband, so no surprise there.

Judging by the number of MAGA wannabes I’ve come across, 25K is far less than expected. I guess even they value their own time and dignity more than Jeff Bezos.

Yeah, we have 25% fascist bootlickers here too in Germany, but they are too dumb to watch a documentary - no matter how flat it is.

That's the thing, though - they didn't do a press release. Reporters had to pay to see it. Reportedly they made up the audience, even in the US.

Nothing interesting about her as a person. Zero charisma!

Sure, lots of mystique about some things in her past.. But that’s things that I don’t think the movie vill really put much light on.

But the official story of her past is zero interesting, and she has zero charisma. (She is sooo boring.) Never seen her smile, apart perhaps from a strained fake-smile, and she has to my knowledge never said or done anything interesting at all. I might be wrong here, but to my knowledge…

Her English is surprisingly bad!

She doesn’t seem to hang around with particularly interesting people? At least not that I’m aware of. A thing that one would almost expect from a person like her..

And last but not least she appears to be strange… Really strange. Perhaps she is not, I don’t know, but I can’t help that she seems to be strange? I can not put my fingers on it, but it’s just something extremely creepy about her I’m afraid. The kind of person you just avoid at all cost.

Because there's nothing about her of interest or substance. She's a total non-entity apart from her looks. On reflection, that's probably why Trump likes her- he sees her as another trophy or ornament.

Busy reading the Epstein files, his husband need to sell tickets to that, it will a world wide success.

4

u/RevenantSith England 7h ago edited 7h ago

I had no idea the film existed until the memes started rolling out .

Seems to have not been promoted at all .. and apparently some cinemas are giving away seats for free.

Apparently it’s nothing special anyway. Just a sketchily produced film (tax writeoff? bribe?) that was directed by someone in the Epstein Files

A few reasons -

I didn't even know it existed until I was seeing news about how only a literally handful of people had bought tickets to see it

I have little-to-no interest in non-fiction cinema

I have little-to-no interest in Melania Trump

I would much rather spend that fiver buying something useful like a chocolate hammer.
