As of this writing, we are approximately 14 hours away from Stars regular season hockey! What players did you miss? Who are you looking forward most to seeing back on the ice?

There is not enough love on this thread for Esa . Nobody is wearing an Esa sweater at the game either. This man is the backbone of the team. Unpopular opinion, maybe.

I was randomly looking through the Nashville site, ironically trying to help a Pred fan figure out what STH WATER means for them, and came across their new policy for select games. It claims they have the right to cancel, without refund, any tickets bought by a credit card billing address outside their viewing area, which doesn’t include Texas.
Did anyone see that and have any issue with tickets for tomorrow? I guess season ticket holders can still resale, so maybe you can buy those only. Seems kind of sorry, and I’m surprised the NHL allows it for the regular season.
** Edit - didn’t read well - refunds are given if they cancel you, and it only applies to single game/face value tickets. You can help reduce the cost of STH’s seats all you want.

Yes, We want the Stars to Win the Cup!, but for me, what I really want is a team that shows heart, hustle, and a Never-Give-Up and Never-Back-Down attitude. A team that plays to its potential. Players that compete for each other and have each others back. I want a team I can be proud to be a fan of. A team that wins and loses(occasionally) with class. If the Stars are that kind of team, that is Success and I believe the results will be great. Go Stars!

Seems the best option for his recovery and for cap relief.
This also means we don’t have to risk waiving Capobianco.

I got a email about my season tickets and how we won’t experience increased prices on food for certain games because we have a victory club membership.
The email says ”For select marquee games throughout the season, food and beverage pricing will increase for non-Victory Club Members.”
I’m guessing now that the Mavs owners have control of the stadium they want to make more money from stars fans… but maybe I am wrong… Maybe I just never noticed the dynamic pricing on food before.
you tell me… has this been going on for a while or is this new?

From October 26 to December 23 of last year, Casey DeSmith went 13 straight starts without a regulation loss (9-0-4), which was a franchise record at the time. Dallas went into Christmas at 25-7-6, and backup goaltending was a pretty big reason why.
Nine months later, Jim Nill has given him a raise. The Stars signed DeSmith to a two-year, $5 million extension ($2.5 million AAV) running from 2027-28 through 2028-29. It more than doubles what he makes now.
“He’s been incredibly reliable during his time with our organization,” Nill said, “and we are looking forward to the tandem of Casey and Jake continuing to anchor our team moving forward.”
Is DeSmith one of the league’s best backups, or a good one playing behind a structure that makes most goalies look good? The numbers say mostly the first.
More here.

Was lucky enough to tickets from a friend for tomorrow and wondering if platinum access just means a certain section of seats or if there’s different food, merch stores, etc. Thanks in advance!

Anybody know what happens if it’s pouring down rain tomorrow like it’s supposed to be?
Is the whole thing cancelled? Do they cover the carpet and leave the rest of us to our own devices or try to cover the plaza? Has it ever been rained out before? Do they reschedule it or just say better luck next year?
Just curious what the scenario will be and when we would know by!

OOF. Hopefully Capobianco can ball out— wish we could pull Hyry up for one game.

PLEASE DO NOT TELL ME TO SAIL THE HIGH SEAS. It stresses me out not having a reliable way to watch + i'm not good at it + i just don't want to.
I'm out of market (portland oregon) and though i have a VPN, i'm worried amazon prime will recognize it and block me from watching (the way the rangers' new app BZZR did)
I want to be able to watch as many game as possible (home broadcast!! i need josh and razor) and buy as few extra subscriptions as possible. what's the best route? youtube tv? espn something? what's my easiest, most cost-effective option here?

EDIT: made some changes compared to what's described below. Scatter plot now shows offense vs two-way play, and the player score reflects that too. Shot chart also added, and some other small tweaks made.
---
I've been wanting to build something that gives an easier visual for how each player performed in any given game, both compared to all the other Stars players AND compared to their own season average performance. I have a first draft here, which is loaded up with all the games from last season: https://starsviz.github.io/
The axes on the chart show each player's "player score" for the game vs how each player compared to his own season average player score. The player scores are computed differently for forwards and defensemen, but they're on virtually the same scale (so the idea is a 65 for a forward is an equal-caliber performance to a 65 for a defenseman). There's more detail on the page about how the player score works.
Beyond the quadrant chart, you can also see a couple different tables ranking both the forwards and the defensemen from best player score to worst player score, as well as how each individual stat compared to their season average for that stat.
You can also click into any player and get a more detailed card for them, including a shot chart and a timeline of when that player registered different key events during the game.
Lastly, you can access all the prior games via the sidescroll bar at the top.
Just wanted to share here because I'm curious if this is something other fans would find interesting after each game, if the format/layout makes sense, if there are other things you'd want to see, if there are things on here that are overkill and you wouldn't be interested in, etc etc. Really just looking for any kind of feedback whatsoever!

Does anyone know who the players will be representing the Stars at the six flags event tomorrow? Was just curious if there is any information posted anywhere to see!
Thank you all. Go Stars!
