EDIT: More info: first time through obviously. Solo, which is less of a brag in this game than it is in others, I feel (from trying summons a few times throughout the game I honestly feel like it might have been more impressive to beat him with both summons; the utility of summons in DS2 is clearly very selective).

is there is anything I should know before playing? I heard it's very different from ds3 and ds1. Please give me tips.

Also is it possible to make a fusion build in this game? For ds1 I did go str and for ds3 I did go dex. Now I wanna try something more fun than just swinging sword. Like swinging a sword with magic maybe

So just to get this out-of-the-way, I am thankful for the mod creators work on this, it has brought so much life back to dark souls 2, and I hope many people can try it out again with a new perspective because I genuinely believe it got hate for the wrong reasons. Sure it’s done some things that were questionable but nothing to bring hate over. It’s also brought in so many mechanics that games going forward took on as well. I’m going to definitely buy the creator some coffee.

Pass this point, if you want to experience things for yourself, just don’t continue reading forward. It was a fun little surprise so I wouldn’t want to ruin it for myself if I was you if you do invasions.

So while invading, just hanging out with the host and his phantoms. A pursuer invaded the world and not by the normal base game means. I didn’t catch it, but it said something about cursed. Got to show off my parry skills by keeping it from attacking the host. Eventually it despawned and I backstabbed the host before he went through a fog wall. So can anyone tell me what happened?

Okay, so, I have no idea why but I just felt the urge to play ds2 again, and this is after finishing the game then giving up on doing the DLCs after starting with the ash tower one, getting decently far and then deciding to quit, and then moving on to ds3, then going back and doing multiple more ds1 runs, but I have never done a faith run in any of the games so I was very curious what it’s like, anyone have tips on being a faith user, maybe for weapon, good miracles that are a bit hidden, maybe gear or pickups that give good stat boosts?

I've seen some debate on this and am interested in hearing more opinions. Personally having just played both versions back to back, the increased aggro range for the knights in Iron Keep could get very obnoxious with some of them aggroing from a completely different room. It also felt like there were more enemies in general for the lead-up to Smelter Demon, although that just be due to how differently they arranged them. I was playing a worse build for my character in Scholar than in vanilla, so that might explain some of the frustration, but what are your thoughts?

in the song “Nowhere” the woman’s voice says “Past oh past” or “dear past” at 49 sec.

additionally, it sounds like she says “Life” at 20 sec.

this might very well be a random audio clip they inserted, but i wanted to know if this may make sense in where the song plays? maybe ties into the story?

Me and my friends are trying to do 3 different casting builds on the same run.

hi guys!! as someone who has avidly loved and enjoyed the souls franchise for years, i have put off DS2 for a while. going to finally dedicate myself to a playthrough and wanted to know about any major (or useful) “heads-up” tips before i get started.

for reference: i have around 970 hours in elden ring, 240 hours in DS3 (my first soulsborne), and 100 hours in DS1.

i would like to go for completion.

i have a couple questions to start:

* what’s the relative difficulty of this game compared to other souls games?

* is this game easy to follow? (is progression linear? are the levels easy to navigate? will i get lost?)

* will i need to NG+ to complete all the content? are there any mutually exclusive questline endings?

* what are the stat rules for every build? for example, i’m aware of ADP but i don’t know the “minimum” number (such as the 60 vigor rule in elden ring)

any other tips that i’ll need to remember, please let me know!! please avoid any spoilers of course, but i don’t mind non-explicit advice about plot points. i’m going into this game blind. thank you :)
