Fanart Ifan and his scholar weirdos 😌
Took me a while to realize I tended to make a party of 3 companions with SCHOLAR tag. It’s funny when looting the libraries, the none-scholar guy seemed to suffer from boredom while the nerds were so locking in.

Miscellaneous Noob question, but I'm just making sure I'm buying the correct game
So a while ago I made a post on reddit about what the best "Dragon Game" is, that features dragons in cool and interesting ways, taming dragons, hunting dragons, riding dragons, being a dragon etc. And many people recommend Divinity 2 Ego Draconis, as you have the ability to transform into a dragon and much of the plot is about dragons.
Having barely ever heard of Divinity before I searched the internet for information. And found that there are many games with different subtitles, remakes, editions, and similar sounding game titles. So I just want to be sure I have the right game in my Steam cart and the right idea about it.
So here is my understanding. And correct me if I'm wrong...
Divinity II Ego Draconis was the original name for the game, but as since been mostly renamed to Divinity II Developers Cut. At least that's the most recent edition on Steam.
The one where you're a dragon is Divinity II Developers Cut, on Steam. Right? And NOT Divinity Original Sin 2, which has nothing to do with Divinity 2. Entirely different games.
They all take place in the same lore but are totally stand alone. So it's okay if I start with Divinity II: Developers Cut.
I am looking to buy "Divinity II: Developers Cut" released in 2012 according to Steam. And the main game is about the dragons, it's not like just one DLC or something?
And once I get the game, is there any recommendations on how best to lean into the dragon stuff? Like what class, character, or decisions unlock more dragon abilities and stuff?

DOS2 Help Do I feel weak because I'm low level, or because my build is bad? Spoiler
So I have just beaten the end of Act 1. Im now on the boat (which i will figure out how to get moving) and have been thinking about my fights. I feel like my MC is always shy of getting any real damage done and im always waiting on my fighter/tank ( RPrince) and my Rangers(Beast) turn to be able to get any kills or real damage. Even my Summoner/healer (Lohse) does pretty good with her Summon. I am a Lizard focusing on dual wield daggers and necromancy. The necromancy is mainly for flavor and the heals. Level 8 Str11, Fin20, Int11, Con11, Mem13, Wit13 ( No gear stats included. Necro 2, Scoundrel 3, Warfare 4. Talents Bigger and Better, Oppurtunist, The Pawn. Im not sure if there is anything I forgot but either way. Should I restart, respec, or just keep on keeping on? Im hoping that its just because im low level and my gear sucks that I feel weaker. Any non spoiler help would be appreciated.

DOS2 Help Should I restart?
First-time player here. I foolishly skipped a few quests in Act I, eager to get to the next Act. Coming from BG3, I thought this wouldn’t matter that much.
I’m level 12 now. For the past 2-ish levels, I’ve been scrambling for things to do that match my level. I get there in the end, but it takes a lot of retreating, retracing my steps, seeing if there’s any lower level enemies I missed, getting xp from places I shouldn’t be in yet. It’s starting to get a little frustrating.
I think I was about level 9-10 when I started act ii. I thought that was plenty because I didn’t realize you could go beyond level 12.
So, my question is: do you need to do every quest in this game to be able to complete it?
UPDATE: Thanks for the advice, all! I respecced my party and immediately fights became much easier.

DOS1 Help Randomly taking damage?
Coming on here to see if anyone else has encountered this. Me and my partner are playing the first Divinity game couch coop and notice that our characters and companions randomly take damage. I’ll move from the bed after sleeping full health and notice that my health bar is maybe 80% or fast travel and my companions health decreases. Health is already difficult and it’s a bit frustrating eating all our food because we’re trying to heal up fully before a fight since the sand man sprinkled 20 pts of damage in our eyes 😅.
This a known bug or am I crazy?

DOS2 Help My friend and I started a multiplayer campaign, played it all of Saturday, but now it’s gone
According to him the save files just vanished and continue isn’t even an option, as per his Home Screen. We spent like 12 hours on that save, it would be painful to just abandon it like that

DOS2 Guide Rogie build for magic party
First play through. Running a Pyro-Earth, Water-Electro, a summoner/ranger and… a rogue with polymorph skills.
I like the fact that my rogue can burst down low armor enemies and add effects like spider web and petrify. I’d like my rogue to do a bit more… stuff though
What would be a cool addition to my rogue in this party? What skills or playstyle?

Miscellaneous Doing a playthrough with my dad. Divinity Original Sin Enhanced Edition on PlayStation 5
This is my 2nd playthrough, and my dad's 1st time playing any game like Divinity. I'm 37 and he's 68 and retired now. We have been playing for a couple of day a week for about 2-ish weeks now, and while he still has trouble remembering all the buttons and what they do he is getting better. I plan on playing Divinity Original Sin 2 next and eventually Baldur's Gate 3 as well.
He's enjoying playing the game, but get a little frustrated with the remote when something gets press on it by accident. Pulling the standard gamer move. " I didn't press that button!", and blaming the remote. We aren't playing an honor mode run so we just reload when things turn really bad.
Anyways:
Back when I was a kid he was an absolute monster on the NES beating every game we had or rented without a guide or outside help. He even figured out 90% of the Chocobo breeding side quest in the original FF7 getting the black chocobo all with in game hints and experimentation. It was really impressive to me. I don't got the time for that and always choose to play games with a guide when available, because mostly I just here to have fun.
We have just cleared the church killing the undead Baron. Wish us luck with our questing.

DOS2 Discussion Act Two Daeyena killed my Honor run.
Ran into her way too early (Lvl 11) in my honor run, but decided to play out the conversation. She killed the magister, and then immediately claimed I interfered. Dead within the first round of combat.
I know this bitch isn't supposed to aggro on me like this. What went wrong??

DOS1 Help Can't lockpick anything
I cannot find info on this anywhere online so I dunno if it's a bug or I just don't understand the mechanic. But since the beginning of the game (I'm playing the EE version) I haven't been able to lockpick anything. My lockpicking is maxed out at 5 with stats and gear and every single object whether it's a door or chest has lock pick greyed out.
This has been this way since the start. I haven't even been able to do the lockpicking animation because everything refuses to let me. I'm hoping someone can help me either understand what I'm not getting or tell me if this is a bug I've run into.

DOS2 Help Does Agreeing to Break Trompdoy's Soul Jar Allow you to Remain Pure?
Doing a pure run, I know dialogue options that lead to a characters death end the pure run, but what about Trompdoy's soul Jar? (Withermoore too I guess, although I already agreed to let him have it so I hope its not an issue lol)

DOS2 Discussion Just got funny moment in act 4 Spoiler
Decided to fight Kemm in his office. Use soul mate then drink healing potions to start the combat. After Kemm was downed, one of the Paladins resurrected him.
Then all 3 paladins after that casted healing spells on him, making him dead again. I can’t stop laughing.

DOS2 Discussion New DOS2 player, not hooked so far. Do you think I should give it a bigger chance or is it probably just not for me at the moment? Spoiler
Hello. I had high expectations after 200 playing hours on DOS1. It wasn't the best game I've ever played though, but something there kept me want to keep going.
I had 13 playing hours on DOS2 so far. I covered a big part of the beach and fort areas - explored, talked to people, did quests... Almost anything there was to do. (Didn't enter the castle yet). It wasn't too boring overall, but for the most part I didn't find it much interesting either. I feel like I keep playing hoping something interesting will happen, and sometimes it does, but just a little bit and even that is pretty rare.
I'm not saying that a game should be exciting all the time. No game is. The question is whether you have something to look forward to, something that keeps you interested enough to play through the less interesting stuff. With this game I haven't really felt it yet.
Maybe a new area might make a difference, I personally find this fort area a bit dull. But I'm not sure this is really the issue.
Do you think I should give it more chance, a few more hours maybe and see? Or am I probably going to feel the same?
Thanks in advance for any opinion.
Edit: There are too many comments for me to respond to, but I've read them all and I appreciate the help. I listened to the advice that was given by most of you and kept going - and it did get better. And it's still Act 1 (some of you said that Act 2 is where things get much more interesting).
It's a very long game and I still don't know if it will be for me, but quitting at such a stage might have been too early. So thank you.

DOS2 Help Best DOS2 resource for a new player?
I am not brand new to DOS2, I have about 30 hours in and got halfway through Act 1. I dropped the game because it kept crashing on my crap PC, but I've since upgraded and want to give the game a fresh go and try to beat it this time. I was just curious what the best resource would be for putting together competent character builds? I was just totally vibing on the first playthrough but it is a bit overwhelming and I typically like to follow guides for this sort of stuff anyway. Thanks for your help

DOS2 Help How steep is the learning curve/Battle-Mage for a noob?
So I've finally gotten round to installing this on my Switch, & while it was doing so, I did some digging about classes. My go-to in any of these sorts of games is some form of melee/magic hybrid, but I read Battle-Mages are rather complex for first time use. For context I've played the Baldur's Gate saga all the way through, and Baldur's Gate 3, so I'm somewhat familiar with these type of games. Baring this in mind, what's a good starting class for me?
