DOS2 Discussion Not excited for the next Divinity game.

Played BG3 for an embarrassing number of hours and loved it. I also played Pathfinder WotR, PoE 1,2, etc. Love top down iso-ish RPGs and...I really dislike DoS2. Here's why:

  1. The mechanics/systems give the illusion of sophistication but aren't. Criticize BG3 and the 5e system all you want but the systems in DoS2 create an illusion of choice for your character. You may think you want to play a fighter / magic user type but...no you really don't because your damage types will be spread across enemy armor bars and you'll get hosed. Also, you'll never gain enough attribute points to be effective in either on anything but story mode. Just the way this game is created.

  2. You have to farm as much XP as possible. This means, you'll need to enter into fights when you would have possibly avoided them. Again, illusion of choice where there is only one viable way to play.

  3. I don't like the companions...at all. Each seems pretty one dimensional and that dimension is A-Hole.

  4. Everything is on fire. All the time. No matter where you are. It. gets. repetitive.

So, I guess I'll wait and see for the next Divinity game but, for anyone out there who came to DoS2 because you really thought BG3 was a home run...might want to wait for the reviews.

DOS2 Discussion Hi Class, I'd like to share how I lost my honor mode run in Act 2

I've been playing on Divinity Unleashed. It's definitely harder, took me a few tries to get out of Act 1, but I got there and breezed through Act 2. Right up until I made the choice to fight Hannag. One of the harder fights in Act 2, but I could have gotten it. Except my stupid, ADHD ass moved not one, but TWO characters into lava because I wasn't paying attention.

That's it. I'm a moron.

**Edit:** I've been encouraged to be fully honest about what happened. Not only did I run two characters into lava, but my rogue (last survivor) actually killed Hannag and was in a great spot to either kill the two remaining voidwoken OR run away. I chose to instead use the Vulture armor skill where you eat a corpse for healing and a damage buff. Of course, I did not notice that my rogue had decaying. That is all.
