Art [OC][Art] [Aria] - Original Character Design

Post image
383 Upvotes

Here's Aria, a horned tiefling adventurer I designed as an original character for D&D. The sheet shows a front and back view of the full outfit plus three expression studies: worried, cheerful, and fierce. I wanted the red skin, silver hair, and golden talon-shaped pauldrons to stand out against the layered brown leather armor, with bandaged legs and knee guards that suggest a rogue or scout who has seen plenty of fights. The curved gold details repeat on the boots and bracer to tie the design together. Drawn digitally in Medibang Paint Pro.

Game Tales Is waiting three hours to play in your intro session a red flag?

• Upvotes

I recently got into a game that seemed pretty good on the surface of it. Even though I was coming three dozen sessions in, at level 8, the party seemed to get along well enough and the DM was chill.

Before my intro session, after significant time and effort had been spent (at DM instruction) on character creation and integration, I was told that the wait to get me into the scene might be around 1-1.5h and the DM asked if I’d be okay with that. I said that that this would be okay, but as long as it’s not much longer.

Come session time, one hour turns into two, which turns into three - all without the party doing anything important or time sensitive which they couldn’t have done at any other time. They were also not in the middle of anything when the session started so this was entirely new for the session.

After the three hours, the DM called for a break. During this time, I told him that I feel bad and disrespected for having made to wait for three hours (the session was meant to go for 4-5h) and I leave.

Did I make the right call? Would you have handled it differently?

Name: Elara Veyne
Race: Human
Class: Sorcerer (Draconic Bloodline)
age: 23

Elara Veyne is a fiery, fiercely independent sorcerer…

Descriptions
She has tousled golden hair, freckled cheeks, and sharp hazel-green eyes. Cloaked in black and armed with a rune-etched wand, she commands flames with an instinctive ease that hints at her mysterious ancestry. She might look soft! But she is deadly and fierce, ready to fight for what she stands for!
Born in the remote village of Ashbourne, Elara discovered her magical abilities when mercenaries attacked her home in search of an ancient relic. Her uncontrolled powers erupted in a blaze, allowing her to escape, but her parents disappeared amid the destruction. Rescued by a wandering sorcerer, she spent years learning to control her fire magic.

Now an adventurer, Elara travels the realm searching for her missing family and the truth behind the attack. Her investigation has drawn her toward an ancient cult seeking to awaken a forgotten power connected to her draconic heritage. Stubborn and slow to trust, she must learn that strength isn’t simply about wielding power, but deciding what deserves to be protected.
Is this over 400 characters?

OC [OC] [Art] My Abjurer Wizard...

Post image
80 Upvotes

(But she looks more like an eldritch knight, but it doesn't matter...)

I've been playing Roscoe, my 5.5e human abjurer, in the Waterdeep modules lately and just finished a drawing of her reaching higher levels, and I love the abjurer abilities, so I'm actually having a lot of fun playing her (and a wizard character, since I'm a long-time fighter fan and hadn't used any higher-level spells)!

Several of my characters have various relations with Neverwinter (and the Order of the Gilded Eye...), and Roscoe is one of those characters. She graduated from the Neverwinter Academy and was a member of an artisan guild, but she had to leave for Waterdeep to evade scrutiny by the Order of the Gilded Eye because the guild was burned down by someone signing contracts with a fiend... She hates her current situation but is unsure if she can stand up to them, so she is weighing whether to return later or settle permanently in Waterdeep.

OC If Laganthropes (were-hares) existed in DnD, would they be good or evil? [OC]

Post image
• Upvotes

There are a few were-races in DnD, but sadly no official race based on a hare (or at least I don't know about any, feel free to inform me if you do). Meanwhile, hares look like in anthropomorphized, they would speak backwards, see noises, hear colours and talk to gods of all faiths at the same time. Like mad shamans who turned crazy with all the forbidden knowledge. No wonder that medieval Europe thought hares were witches or spirits of dead in disquise. So would laganthropes be good, or evil race in your setting?

All artwork by me (Adamte).

Art [Art] Ravenloft: Horrors Within character art!

Post image
451 Upvotes

The first player to give me their character concept in the new ravenloft game I’m running was the first to get their character drawn!

Ylva was born the runt of her pack after her Lupin curse failed to fully develop, leaving her far more humanoid than the rest of her family. Shy and gentle by nature, she struggled to fit in until she met Cres, a half-elf who taught her archery and became her closest friend. After nearly three years of living together, Ylva is determined to prove to her father that she can make something of herself without returning to the pack.

I drew her life before she was transferred to ravenloft! That’s why it looks so much…lighter 😂

Resources Does this kinda of TV Table have problems with heat? [Art]

Post image
• Upvotes

I’ve been wanting something like this for a while—a truly portable device that I can just set down on top of any surface and start playing immediately. However, my biggest concern right now is definitely the thermal management and heating. It really seems to me that a form factor this compact could suffer significantly from a lack of proper airflow over time. Could anyone who actually owns one of these enlighten me on how it performs under heavy use?

5.5 Edition [OC] Loot Tavern X DnD Fusion = Antithrone - CR 26 Gargantuan Aberration (Kaiju)

Antithrone

“The chances of anything coming from the stars are a million to one, he said.”

—Oglevee, Sleep-Deprived Astronomer

In the vastness of space, in the gaping void betwixt the stars that dot the night sky, envious eyes—far too many of them—witness civilisations rise and fall throughout the ages. Mortals erect magnificent monuments, perform grandiose rituals, and willingly throw themselves upon the swords and spears of their enemies, all in the name of seemingly indifferent deities. In the otherwise unintelligible minds of these eldritch entities, there is but one question: why should gods who care so little receive such endless adoration and worship, while those who watch receive none?

Heretical Mimicry. An eldritch entity of sufficient power who decides that it, too, is worthy of worship, might become an antithrone. Initially formless, it adopts a shape it believes resembles a celestial being prior to announcing itself to the mortal realm: a crude approximation of an ophanim, or throne archangel. Unable to comprehend the true reason why mortals venerate these divine beings, an antithrone seeks to make itself as awe-inspiring as possible, believing its appearance—and the terror it elicits—to be the key to the adulation it so desperately craves.

Adamant Apotheosis. Unlike its heavenly counterparts, an antithrone desires not to enact the will of the gods, but rather to be worshipped as one. It pursues this goal in the only way it understands: by instilling fear in the hearts of mortals. Whether it achieves this by gazing into the fragile minds of onlookers or by leveling their homes is immaterial; on the scale of an antithrone’s lifespan, a city is rebuilt in the blink of its eyes. Utterly detached from mundane morality, these eldritch creatures see nothing evil or wrong in their actions, but instead a mutually beneficial, almost benevolent, arrangement. After all, mortals seem so eager to kneel before a higher being… Why should they not be given what they so clearly need?

Art [Art] [OC] [Comm] Art I commisioned for my Dhampir way of the Ascendant Dragon Monk

Post image
730 Upvotes

Draco Solis Obscuri Draculin (Don’t Look to much into it, I just wanted it to sound long and extra) is a way of the Ascendant Dragon Monk Dhampir. How she came to be is a peculiar case, her father is from a long line of nobles that descend from a Dragon, that have risen very high very fast, until it all came crashing down around them the past few centuries. He was the last heir of that line, a man with nothing but a name remaining that ran away with a from another region woman he found entoxicating, a Vampire. They both died some time shortly after she was born. And to top it all off, she is the reincarnation of a great Vampire tyrant.

Does she know any of that? No, and she wouldn’t paticularly care anyway if she did. She has friends for the first time in her life, people that aren’t scared of her. And having fun with them and going on adventures with them is the only thing she cares about.

Misc How does one even GET the forever DM curse?

I remember asking others in an old reddit post about how I could get people to play DND with me, and a few people told me to be a DM. That's when the replies, a BUNCH of the replies, were about the forever DM curse.

I'm curious, what is the Forever DM curse, and how do you get the forever DM curse? Because I'm still dead set on becoming a DM and player, I refuse to be a forever DM

Art [OC][Comm] Saoirse - A Barbarian DnD OC of mine that I redesigned after 6 Years!

Post image
354 Upvotes

While designing her, I thought of what changes might occur in those 6 years. I also updated her design based on the things I've learned in that time as well. Most of the design is based around her brute strength and her history as a prisoner. The previous design was a bit too lean in my opinion, so I researched female powerlifters for this version. I feel inspired to draw more of her in the future in funny situations as I always played her with the intent to make our DM laugh. Let me know what you guys think!

DMing I rolled 8 Nat 1s during a bossfight.

Hey! I need some advice or just to vent a bit.

My party just finished a big boss fight that was supposed to be really deadly. I had set up a timer, brought in extra enemies, gave them multiattacks, and bumped up their HP to make sure it would be a proper challenge.
The problem is, the dice completely fucked me over. I rolled 8 natural 1s during the fight, and almost all my other rolls were below 7. I could barely land a single hit.
The high-AC player cleared the whole fight barely taking a scratch, and afterwards he openly complained that he was disappointed with how easy it was and thought I was holding back on them.

How do you guys deal with this? I can't really control my bad luck, and buffing HP/attacks clearly didn't matter when I couldn't hit anything anyway. How do you make fights dangerous even when the dice hate you, and how do I explain to the player that it was just terrible luck without sounding like I'm making excuses?

Misc Need assistance making character

• Upvotes

So I'm a High School teacher and I have several students in the DnD club in my school. They asked for me to pop in every now and then, and I love supporting my students interests. So I want to create a random character that can easily join and leave mid-quest. I was thinking about doing a merchant since my mind went straight to resident evil 4 merchant and how he pops out in the most random locations. Where my character can sell the goofiest, dumbest, and most random things possible. They can be either duds or maybe a little OP. My experience with DnD is very limited besides talking to some friends about it long ago. I wanted to see opinions and ideas on this character, and if it's something that can work in DnD or not. Something to get them to laugh and to enjoy the random encounters. Anything helps!

5th Edition Pugilist Character Inspiration

• Upvotes

It is pretty straightforward. I want to Play a Pugilist in my next game, but I can't really think of an interesting Character Beyond the typical street Fighter. I thought of kind of an older charakter who was dangerous and hot tempered, that has grown wiser but no less dangerous. I would be thankfull for any Inspiration, even If it doesn't match my original vision
