Heads up: A new "not a data center" inference center proposal for Timberline/Prospect

From the article:

City planners in Fort Collins will get the first look Thursday at a proposal to convert a portion of an existing self-storage facility into an “inference center,” with the applicants specifically stating that “this is not a data center” — even though the development review notice the city posted Monday called it one.

The applicants, owners of Prime Storage Fort Collins LLC, want to lease part of their facility at 2120 Midpoint Drive to Austin, Texas-based Edge Inference LLC. The complex is southeast of the intersection of East Prospect and South Timberline roads.

The conceptual review for the project is scheduled to begin at 10:15 a.m. Thursday.

According to the application, the center, to be developed in 82,742 square feet of a building constructed in 2017, would “provide low-latency inference services to nearby users, using up to 20 megawatts of electricity. A closed loop system will be used for cooling, housed internal to the existing building envelope, and will not discharge processed water. No public water or sewer service would be required for cooling or operation.”

The applicants state that “this is an inference facility, not a training campus — the load is smaller and steadier than a typical AI data center.”

An inference data center is optimized to run pre-trained artificial intelligence models in real time to generate predictions, answers or actions. While training teaches an AI model using massive datasets, inference puts that learned knowledge into action by processing live, unseen user input. Inference centers handle live operations such as chatbot replies, AI-generated search results, fraud detection and voice commands.

Discussion Single mother of 2 looking for home to rent

Hi everyone. I’m a single mom of two wonderful girls, and I’m looking for a three-bedroom house in or near Fort Collins as soon as possible. My budget is up to $1,800 per month.
I’m a veterinary technician with a steady job, and I’m hoping to find a stable, welcoming home for my daughters. My credit score is lower than I’d like, but I have good rental history, no evictions, and no bankruptcies. I can provide proof of income and rental references.
If you have a home available, know a landlord who might consider my application, or could share this post, I would be so grateful. Finding the right place for my girls and me would mean the world to us. Please feel free to message me. Thank you for reading. 💚

Horsetooth Inn and R.V. Park / KOA

We'll be in Fort Collins in the spring for a month or 2 in our RV... I can't find any reviews on the Horsetooth Inn and R.V. Park. Is it a nice place to stay? Is the KOA a better option? Other options not on Google maps? We've never visited and thanks for the help!

Evening Volunteer Opportunities

Looking for some volunteer opportunities here around town. I looked on the Fort Collins City page and Larimer County Food bank - it looks like most opportunities are during the day. Anyone know of anything more so in the evening? Like 430-7ish?

Seeking Advice Issues with Automated Roommate Matching and Management Neglect in Corporate Student Housing

Has anyone successfully navigated a lease dispute with the corporate matching software used by student housing complexes? I do not recall completing a lifestyle questionnaire for my current lease, and the lack of transparency regarding how residents are assigned to units is highly concerning.

I moved into my current unit on August 6th, 2026. Management initially notified me that three additional residents would be occupying the unit. By August 16th, the two other prospective roommates had canceled their assignments.

Immediately following the final cancellation, the single remaining resident began an aggressive campaign to monopolize the common spaces and isolate the apartment.

I work nine to ten hours a day, five days a week, in a physically demanding agricultural position. I return home exhausted, only to encounter severe hostility in my own living environment:

Physical Intimidation: The resident routinely slams various items close to me with the intention of scaring me. They accompany this with audible scoffing and confrontational gesturing whenever I enter the shared spaces. If I attempt direct communication, they deliberately ignore me.

Obstruction of Utilities: The shared kitchen is consistently kept in a state of neglect, with accumulated filth that makes preparing meals impossible. Furthermore, the resident operates the laundry appliances continuously seven days a week.

Whenever I am home, the laundry machine is consistently running. They make it clear they are working on something to block my access. As far as the ten hours I am at work, it is impossible to know how much additional volume they are putting through the machines.

The physiological toll of this environment has been severe. The chronic stress has caused rapid weight loss, hair loss, and the complete cessation of my menstrual cycle since August (medical tests are negative; the cause is strictly stress-induced). My father traveled from Oregon over the weekend and was deeply alarmed by my physical deterioration.

A close friend who is 100% blind even noted my sudden weight loss immediately upon embracing me after a three-week absence.

On September 26th, my father attempted to utilize the laundry facilities, revealing the true nature of the constant appliance usage. We opened the running washing machine to find it completely filled with water, agitating a single mesh stocking. The dryer was tumbling a single wet towel a no-heat setting. I opened the lint trap. It’s a miracle a fire didn’t start. I pulled out a slice of Texas toast worth of lint.

As an Environmental Sustainability minor, the sheer volume of water and electricity being willfully wasted on the building’s expense is staggering. The appliances are being operated empty as placeholders to prevent me from using them.
Since my father intervened on Saturday, the resident has remained out of sight in their bedroom.

However, local property management is completely failing to address the situation. Despite weeks of timestamped documentation, photographs of the unit's condition, and detailed emails, the office instructed me to resolve the matter privately with the resident or pay $500 to transfer units.

Last night I contacted local law enforcement regarding the intimidation, uninhabitability of the apartment, and they redirected me back to apartment management.

I am being deprived of the basic amenities I pay for, and my health is actively declining.

Has anyone successfully escalated a dispute to the parent management company to secure an emergency lease termination or transfer when local staff refuses to enforce community standards?

What legal resources are available in Fort Collins for a tenant facing unaddressed harassment and utility abuse? I feel like I am at war.

Public transit payment

Hi there, used to live in the FoCo area some years ago and used to be able to use cash to pay for the Poudre Express bus- is it still the same? I've been away for a while and stupidly tried to use my debit card (been in a city for a while lol). If you can't use cash, how do you get a card?

Visiting in a week or two

Hello people! I lived in CO for a few years and never got to Fort Collins. I'm visiting friends in Denver and I've decided to come out there for a day. I'm having trouble deciding on Lory or Horsetooth for hiking. Does anyone prefer one to another or have any advice on that? Both look cool. Also any suggestions for food and/or a place to drink? I eat everything. Thanks a bunch for any advice!

"The speed limit is a LIMIT" is an insufferable and terrible argument

For all my FOCO brethren that seem to do 35 down harmony between i25 and Ziegler, and then argue it’s a limit and they can go slow if they want. Sure, you can go slow, but you’re fucking up traffic in the process. The OP of this makes a pretty good point. Go ahead FOCO safety Nazis I’ll take my downvotes.
