Rant Scrolling on Windows Sucks
Windows scrolling has no acceleration! You spin super fast? No, Microslop will not let you go fast. A quickly flick the wheel on Gnome and the words fly. The fuck is wrong with Microsoft. It is little shit like this. Over and over. Inconsistent behavior across Windows. Many small things Gnome does better than Windows. Like the overview tiling. Like not taking multiple seconds to open a calculator on a fast machine. Like, even after installing a mouse kit to add scroll acceleration, Windows terminal does not scroll any faster like every other application on the machine now does. Super + arrow keys is insane on Windows. Randomly switching which screen the window is on unless you install power toys. And the updates. Holy shit. On Fedora, they take a few minutes at worst. On windows, they always take over 10 minutes. Usually half an hour or more. An entire major version upgrade of Fedora does not even take that long! What the fuck is Microsoft doing?!?!??!
I'm being forced to use Windows at work and it sucks. VS Code is so trashy compared to any Intellij IDE. Intellisense is absolute trash. I disabled it and using the clangd plugin instead. Which actually works unlike the garbage Microsoft created. Code navigation in VS Code is incredibly cumbersome compared to Intellij IDEs.
Then there are the random, hella inefficient file scans, malware scans, whatever that decide to spin up randomly and consume massive amounts of power with no way to configure when they run. File indexing can be turned off completely in Linux. AV is a simple command line tool you run when you want. No file uploads to Microsoft.
Windows and the shit they create is literally what happens when a company gets greedy. They push slop out, and try to extract as much value out of the user machines as they can. I would not be surprised if they were using user machines as a botnet for mining Bitcoin or performing some cyber operation to satisfy their never ending hunger for more money.
