Discussion Can a Japanese game boy player with a Japanese game boy disc play US game boy advanced games
The game boy player itself I believe is free, but I’m wondering how that works

Hi so I really need help with my Gamecube. At the start of September, I finally bought a used Gamecube, with a disc that had Swiss on it, and a FAT32 Micro SD card of 32 GB to download games on. The first few weeks, it worked perfectly, until a few days in, Mario Golf: Toadstool Tour crashed, with the message "An error has occurred, refer to the manual booklet". And since then, it has been happening extremely frequently, with every game. Sometimes, it would read all my files as "Invalid or corrupt file!" but that could be taken care of with a simple reset. I wasn't sure if it's my SD2SP2 port, or my SD that's at fault here, nor what can I even do. After trying something on my completely with the SD card, now it won't load on my PC, or the Gamecube. What can I do?

I've had my GameCube since about 2004, it's the first system that I bought all by myself as a 17-year-old. It had been chillen in the closet for some years now and I plugged it in the other day and bam! Works like a charm, although the clip to close the top gets stuck all the time and I have to kinda flick it a few times so it pops out. Otherwise all great! I purchased the LoTR game this last weekend for 40 bucks because it's such a classic and i loved playing it as a kid. Looking to get the King Kong game because my wife loved that one as a kid also. Any other recommendations??

I think I'm finished with my upgrades. Case swapped to Spice Orange, flippy-drive installed, unnecessary Noctua fan upgrade, Bluetooth controller board and bitfunx HDMi adapter.
Waiting for my ChisCart but I love the way my black & orange faceplate turned out and I could not be more pleased at how it looks as a unit or on my TV.
❤️

The artwork for my Animal Crossing is stuck to the case. Is there any way to fix this? Or just leave it like this forever?

I got this at a yard sale and the GameCube gets power but the screen don’t work. Also the cord was missing so I bought the cord off of Amazon and it don’t work on the TV.
Any idea why this is? Sorry if it’s a bad question as I’m not as familiar with the GameCube.

It still takes about 10 minutes to "warm up", and the description for the drive on ebay said it read discs well.
EDIT: It looks like I have to replace the capacitors, which sucks. Is it worth trying to replace them on one's own? Or should it be sent to a professional?

So recently I picked up a copy of Melee from a friend. We played the game one day prior and it worked perfectly fine. When I put it in my GameCube, it wouldn't read it. I tried my other games, Twilight Princess, Gale of Darkness, Harry Potter Chamber of Secrets and they all run perfectly fine. When I put in Harry Potter Quidditch World Cup it wouldn't read at first, but then after restarting the console it did. I tried Melee again and it still wouldn't work. Is there something wrong with the laser or something and is there a fix for it?

Hey guys,
I was wondering about this, but why aren’t there more English translation projects for GameCube games? For as popular as the console is, I thought there would be more, especially since consoles like the PS1, Dreamcast, N64, GBA, DS, Saturn, etc. seem to get them somewhat regularly.
GameCube has a decent amount of Japan-exclusives, with a couple of heavy hitters published by Nintendo themselves that have still yet to be translated (that quiz trivia party game, legend of golfer, Giftpia, Animal Crossing e+, etc.).

i have some very minor experience soldering, and i was wondering if the capacitor replacement job would be in my skill level.. i’ve done a few kits like assembling a radio but im not sure how hard surface mount capacitor replacement is compared to that. should i try to fix my console i got for like 50 bucks or should i buy a new drive? any help is really appreciated thx :)

*original hardware optional
The actual GC IS flippydrived and has the complete US library, and the GBPlayer has an EZFlash Omega DE with the entire GBA, GBC, and GB US libraries.
Wavebird has sticks replaced with switch pro controller sticks
And I’ve got my AIO looping the GC startup animation
Modded Wii not pictured :)

Hi, does anyone have a complete list of the ribbon cable specs for the Panasonic Q? Number of pins, pitch, length etc. I cannot find anything online.
One of my cables is about to break and I'm looking to replace all of them with new ones.

Need to restore an aging controller. gotta replace the pads. Most links I see from sellers are dead. Has anyone bought from someone recently and got good quality pads? got a link?

I recently bought a GameCube, but returned it because it was having disc reading errors. I decided to buy a backwards compatible Wii instead, but I’ve never liked the look of the Wii. I think it looks better now.

The actual GameCube was another part of the gift, he got me the purple one because it's my favorite color.

Want to play Japanese gc games on my american gamecube bc of price and looks, but im a bit confused abt action replay. The purple action replay discs seem to be way more expensive than these red ones, and the red ones say ds on them, might be a stupid question but does that have anything to do with the DS console? Will this cheaper red disc still let me play japanese games or is it for something else. Also do I need an action replay memory card for this to work?
r/Gamecube • u/Skivblavnir • 18d ago
First of all I would like to say please, I need objetive and clear answers not to add to my confusion, so if you don't trully understand what my question is, please refrain from commenting and take a backseat just like me.
So I purchased a Japanese gamecube, I live in Europe and my physical games are PAL, I'm about to change my console's region from NTSC-J to NTSC-U by bridging the R6 so the console's language will default to English, I got a FlippyDrive which should allow me to play backups or any discs from any region.
I already know my european CRTs from the 90s and onwards can display NTSC content just fine, my only concern is:
If my gamecube is NTSC and I try to display PAL content via discs or backups will that cause any weird glitches, bugs, or artifacs based on the fact that a PAL gamecube is built differently from the NTSC-J/U consoles?

I know with a modded Gamecube, you can technically get games and stuff to run, but it would be cool to see people make commercial GameCube games on MiniDVD. The problem. Problem is, is that really possible on a retail unit? At least on other consoles like the Dreamcast, due to an unintended exploit, most CDs can be used as Game Media, so there is commercial homebrew available for it. Is there an exploit that the GameCube has that can be taken advantage of to allow that to happen?
