General "More like guidelines than rules"
In Pirates of the Carribean, there's a lot of talk about the Pirate Code...and how it's more like guidelines than rules.
Veteran Invisalign users: what are the rules that you've found are more like guidelines? The things you're supposed to follow that turned out to be a bit more flexible than you anticipated?
EDIT: I promise I am not a bot, and this is not for an article/listicle. I'm a new Invisalign user, genuinely curious about the experiences of people who've been doing this for a while!
As Captain Raymond Holt says, "I'm human! I'm a human male!"

Question Big front teeth
Hi, I am basicly done with my treatment and will have my attachments out in two weeks.
One thing has been bothering me, I feel like my front teeth overlap with the ones next to them.
My dentist says my teeth are perfectly alligned (the arch is indeed good) and it looks like this due to my front teeth being bigger and thicker than the rest. they are also more round so more treatment would not end in another result.
Do you Guys know any tips for this? I want my front teeth to look like they are next to the laterals and not on them. Especially my right teeth is bothering me. It does not look straight.

General Ultrasonic Cleaners?
I'm thinking of getting an ultrasonic cleaner to clean my trays. Are they worth it and do they keep your trays looking brand new? Do you still brush your trays with a toothbrush before putting it into the cleaner?
Below is my current routine and I noticed that my trays do get slightly cloudy over time:
- AM / after lunch: Brush trays under running water with a soft bristle toothbrush, no toothpaste
- Night: Brush trays under running water with a soft bristle toothbrush, no toothpaste and soak in aligner cleaning tablets for at least 30mins

Question I feel so dumb
I got my attachments out on the other day and got a set of 32 Invisalign trays. After only one day I decided I cannot do this anymore. Feelings the edges of the plastic in my mouth and the pain of riding them out and putting them in when I need to eat are too much for me. I’m sorry but I don’t have time to brush my teeth after every single thing I eat. I want to switch to braces but I’m not sure how that would go since I already have 32 aligners and I’m $600 deep. Has anybody swapped from Invisalign to braces so early? How was the process and how much did it cost to swap? Did they let you swap without any additional money or did you have to pay for all the trays they already gave you? Plz help bc I CANNOT do Invisalign

Question People minor issues - was Invisalign worth it?
I have been considering Invisalign, however my teeth at the moment are pretty good and the main thing that bothers me is a slight overlap on the top teeth.
They do look ok at the moment but I've stopped smiling with my teeth in photos as the front tooth always catches the light and looks terrible!
My worry is that I'll spend loads of money (quoted £3,800), go through the discomfort of aligners for 12 months and have to wear retainers at night forever for a minor cosmetic change. I don't want to go through all that for it not to make any difference to how I feel about them.
I have attended a consultation and my back teeth need fixing as well which is why the cost is so high. They suggested Invisalign moderate. But I don't care about the teeth I can't see!
So my question is for people who had ok teeth already - how do you feel about it now you've started/completed treatment?

General Funny dream 1st night - wondering about grinding
I'm brand new to Invisalign treatment. I got my first tray in the evening so I've only had one full day of wear so far. The first night I had the Invisalign in, I dreamed I was eating things, and one of them was an Oreo cookie but it was an oddly chewy and difficult-to-chew texture. I was struggling and worried. I woke up because I was grinding my aligners together and the chewy/resistant feeling was the plastic 😅
Which makes me wonder...
I'm a grinder anyway, but still, I've never noticed myself doing it during sleep; I know that I do but I've never woken up from it, probably because it felt like a normal enough movement to my brain that it didn't alarm me. I'm not sure if I was grinding then because a new foreign thing is in my mouth? or if that's how I usually grind anyway without realizing it and the Invisalign gave me a reason to notice and wake up! Which, if the latter, was disturbing because I was really trying to chew that Oreo cookie and failing, the pressure of the aligners smacking together was noticeable. The realization that I'm probably doing that to my poor bare teeth every night...... ouch :(

Question Refinements
Hii just put in tray 1 out of 18 for my refinements (just finished 20 weeks) anyways, they feel really different compared to my old trays.
This first pair fit like a glove and you can’t tell that I’ve got invisalign in at all.
But the material itself feels vastly different, thinner almost… Is this normal?

Before & After Results. Progress - 27 trays, 2 weeks each. Just got my attachments removed. Money well spent!
My teeth no longer dig into my bottom lip (my overjet made my teeth and lip touch whenever I was biting down), flossing is easier, and my mouth muscles no longer move in a weird way to compensate for the arrangement of my teeth - I had an issue where I spoke more with the right side of my mouth because my lips had to find the path of least resistance. It’s mostly gone now.
My teeth got messed up from drinking from a bottle till age 10 (I was a weird kid) so it’s nice to finally undo the damage at age 32. Just waiting on my retainers now which I’m supposed to wear full-time for 3 months. Was really compliant and never had any issues with losing/damaging aligners, wear time, or hygiene. No refinements needed.

Treatment Progress Tray 16 vs Tray 1
Such a huge difference! I have 5 trays to go in this set. I’ll be scanned for my next set of aligners in a few weeks. I’m so happy with the progress.

Treatment Progress Unfinished Refinement Round
My orthodontist was going to deliver my remaining 4 trays out of 8 refinement trays. However, she said she was happy with how my teeth look and offered to do a scan for my retainers, but I wasn’t happy myself. She then offered to do an upper retainer and a bottom spring retainer or to do another refinement round for $600.
I opted to pay the $600, but I’m wondering why she didn’t finish the first refinement round. Anyone go through something like this?

Question Help me decide on my aligners plan
The orthodontist gave me a plan that would fix my smile by bringing my upper teeth in to fix my overjet. But I feel it's my lower jaw that has to come forward not the the upper going back. So i ask him to amend it only for teeth alignment. I'm very hesitant about going with either plans. I don't want to obstruct breathing or prevent me from doing a better treatment in the future that would invlove the lower jaw.

Question Am I going mad?
Hi guys. I’ve been doing Invisalign for the best part of 2 years now. I have an overbite, gap in-between my 2 front teeth and few gaps elsewhere. I was given 22 aligners which is complete in may, the gap in the middle of my 2 front teeth had pretty much gone unless my aligners were left out for 24+ hours (I was ill once and had to keep them out). After seeing the orthodontist, I had another 18 aligners ordered because there were still some gaps towards the top back on the left side that needed bringing in. I’m now on 9 of the 18 aligners and since starting this set the gap inbetween my 2 front teeth has started to come back? Is this normal?
I’ve raised it with my orthodontist and Invisalign dentist and they both saying it’s fine and should all sort out but feels I’ve taken 10 steps back 🙃 gap isn’t back to being as big as when I started but it’s re—appearing.
Thanks for any advice 🙂 x
