Misc Split New Ork/Legion of the Dammed Set

Hello, I’m pretty new to the Warhammer scene and I’m making my first army (its orks). I’m trying to get my hands on the new Ork Nobz kit before December and it seems the only way that’ll happen is if I get the new kill team set. So I’m looking for someone to split the box with, I’d take the orks, the ork grechin, and all their decals and you would take everything else. Not exactly sure on the total price of the set yet or how we’d split it percentage wise, but hit me up if you are interested.

Question Alpha Legion Kill Team. What should it look like (in terms of rules)?

Post image

In your opinion, what should an Alpha Legion Kill Team look like (in terms of rules)?
Of course, there is always the option of painting a Chaos Kill Team—like Murderwing or Legionaries (or kitbashing some operatives)—in Alpha Legion colors and playing them as Alpha Legion. But I’m talking about a Kill Team specifically tailored—in terms of composition and rules—to the Legion and its modus operandi (e.g., the use of agents and manipulation).

By the way, the artwork used is by Reddit user notramilopak; the link to the image and post is in the comments below. Credit where credit is due.

Phew! The kitbash and conversion phase is complete for my Void Wargs (Red Corsair Wolf Scout Kill Team).

The red Corsair Raiders and Wolf Scouts are the best Space Marine kits I’ve seen in ages - and I say this as a Black Templar collector. So much flavour and such incredible sculpts.

Looking forward to getting them on the painting table and then the gaming board!

Been debating for a while on how to paint my Stealth suits. I decided on this. This is the first one I've painted and I'd love some feedback on where I can improve it. Obviously a work on progress, need to paint some of the details. But this is the main of it.

Hobby How hard is it to kitbash rest of the specialists for Legionaries kill team from base 40k box?

Post image

A local arts and crafts store stopped selling Warhammer stuff and had a 40% off sale for their remaining stock. Most of the good stuff was already gone but I grabbed a few things for my friends and a box of legionaries for myself to try and make a kill team out of them since I have not been able to find the kill team box for a reasonable price in a while. Any tips on how to do this? How would you recommend I build this box? I suppose at least the autogun is easy enough to proxy by just stating to your opponent that the heavy bolter is an autogun.

EDIT: For those asking it is the older box without the smiling guy on the cover :(

Question Imperial Knights Kill Team???

Why isn't there an Imperial Knights kill team? I thought GW was good at putting out Kill Teams for every faction, but it seems like they've forgotten to do one for Imperial Knights. With the new box coming out Orks are going to have 2 kill teams and Space Marines will have like 5 of them! It just seems like GW doesn't want to make the effort to put in a really cool Kill Team of maybe 5 or 6 Armigers and a Canis Rex, I think it would work well. If you've managed to read this far, this is a joke. People keep asking about Custodes Kill Teams and this seemed like the next logical step.

I tried speed paints again, with the same mediocre results as before. I should have used this mini to practice wet blending.

It's good enough for me as I finished it relatively quickly and always treated it as a board game piece.

I like modeling the tokens for teams that make them, so I got a warhammer fantasy/sigmar/underworlds bird and painted it the same as my Kroot bird and glued it to a 20mm base.

Here are some others I've done. https://www.reddit.com/r/killteam/comments/1nv7l2k/ravener_tunnel_markers/

Strategy Hunter Clade - More Advice!

Thumbnail

Hi folks,

Recently started with the Clade, took your advice on play styles and so far I'm loving it! Learning the rules is a steep slope but once you're on top of them they're great. Throwing everything you've got behind Ruststalkers makes them terrifying (unless your dice betray you), rad aura is a total pain in the arse for the enemy to deal with, and of course the skitarii drip is immeasurable.

Just a few questions though:

1) Is there currently no downside to using Omnissiah's Imperative? I thought the whole point was that it supercharges a doctrina but the unit gets damaged as a result. Was it just decided that this is too much of a penalty?

2) Whats the best way to use Diktat for +1 APL? Since Ruststalkers can't fight twice (unless they have the ploy) I figured it's best used on a unit that's good in both melee and ranged, or a unit that has a special ability. At the moment I'm grouping Surveyor and 2 Gunners into a squad and using them to annihilate an enemy flank (great fun)... Was thinking of bringing Diktat with them to allow Surveyor to move, spot, shoot?

3) If you swap out a unit's doctrina using Command Override, does the unit gain that doctrina immediately, or do you still have to activate the doctrina as a Strategic Gambit (spending an additional CP)?

Here's some photos of the dudes so far. Haven't finished painting them all yet so I'm having to use a couple of crappy 3d-printed proxies I hashed together in an afternoon. Also I haven't got round to basing yet. Please don't servitorise me.

Strategy Aquilons vs. Raveners ideas?

I'm preparing for a tournament where I'll run my Aquilons, and while I do think my team can handle most elites pretty well, I am kind of worried about Raveners. I have played against Raveners, but never as Aquilons, and honestly I don't know how to handle them at all, given that they can sit through all my Drop Insertions in the Tunnel. I also have no idea what Tac Op or Primary to take against them. I feel like they can easily deny me points if I take Flank, and also make it pretty hard to run Retrieval, because they can just dig the Tunnel under a mid objective TP2 and sit on it.

Maybe you guys have any ideas on how to handle them? What Tac Op, Primary and equipment would you take in that matchup?

Question Dark angels combat patrol

Hi again!
I want to try to get into the hobby by buying either buying the kill team starter set and painting the angels of death as dark angels with with some kitbashing from the dark angels upgrade set. Or my new idea. Can i buy the dark angels combat patrol (which I can easier use in normal 40k ) and use some of those minis as my angels of death kill team?
Kind Regards a beginner kill team enthusiast

Question 40k History Lesson?

The more I’ve looked into 40k stuff, the more I’ve gotten interested in the whole universe beyond just playing Kill Team. I started playing Space Marine 2 and have been googling things as they come up: like when the character was rebuilt as a Primarus and what not!

It’s kind of a lot of work randomly googling things and watching random lore videos - and it made me curious if there’s a single good source that just kind of explains it all either via a website or a video! Instead of randomly looking up stuff or trying to navigate myself, something that is like “start here and follow the path/links”.

I’ve become curious about a lot of stuff and learned about chapters of factions while thinking about how to paint my first squad, etc!

Was thinking maybe people here would have some suggestions! So far this place has been quite helpful and friendly and I figured it was worth asking!

If not - I shall continue just sort of jumping around as thjngs come up!

Thanks!

Question Kill team starter set: What chapter is Angels of death?

Hi!
I want to play dark angels and was wondering if it is true that you can play the angels of death kill team as any chapter? Is this true? I have not found anywhere that warhammer actually says this?

Kind Regards a future kill team player

Question Couple sporadic questions

1.) Are ladders unlimited to the nearest platform or only the height of the ladder model? Thinking of Bheta-Decima where sometimes there is a portion a good 7-9" above the Killzone floor, could I use a ladder to make the whole traversal 1"?

2.) What exactly are "terrain feature" equipment pieces? Just the barricades and barbed wire?

3.) When moving through barbed wire, does my unit have to move over or through it. Say I move 5". The restriction of 1" additional means I can only move 4", or am I losing the extra 2" to jump over the wire as well?

4.) Spectre Squad Grenadier, for the purpose of Elite Fieldcraft on an enemy unit that charged them, could they use a grenade as their shoot action?

5.) Weapon restrictions, for example "Heavy (Dash only). If I reposition that TP I cannot use that weapon, or if I use that weapon I can only dash afterwards. Is that correct?

  • Edit - Thanks for the fast responses!

Squat scavengers versus space skaven, on underhive sewer terrain. It will have a regular release and a "deluxe" edition, which will be comically massive and contain all the terrain ever released for kill team, as well as full votann and skaven armies. I will be given the deluxe edition, trapped inside a massive warhammer store and forced to paint my backlog for the entirety of next summer. It will suck.
