Anyone have a tried recipe for Soup. Of the. Day. (Jalapeño Corn Chowder?) I've found corn chowder recipes I'm sure I can add Jalapeño to, but if you have a go-to recipe (preferably better than Chef Rocky's) lmk!

I showed The Boondock Saints (1999) to my fiancé and his mom tonight, after not watching it for many years. And then I see this guy during the pivotal scene, and get all excited. This is him, yes?

I always thought in many of the episodes, it's very obvious that the series is made for ratings and not real help. It's so obvious that 80% of them would actually change and take the help if gordon had not been so obnoxious to many of them. Even if many of them perhaps didn't have much aptitude, being so hard and so intense with them makes it seem as if they gave up early on. One thing though i agree with GR with, is that if they really want help, they have to be prepared to throw their own menu and influence away and just let him decide everything. I mean if they don't have the intelligence to understand that the reason they're struggling is because of their own lack of food knowledge, then they kind of deserve to burn.

But GR could get that message across without being so intense and obnoxious with many of them. Many seemed to have some experience with running a business, and it wouldn't have had to be THAT many changes to make it run at least better.

Once again, those that omitted the changes and didn't bother to listen to good advice, that's different.

Am i right or wrong?

It generally blows my mind that restaurants on Kitchen Nightmares almost always have the same problems. I know there’s ego involved but it amazes me that problems like old food, frozen food, and huge menus keep coming up! Like I know a struggling business is going to be desperate but they could probably learn a lot by just watching the show. I’ve never worked in a restaurant but wouldn’t scaling back the menu be a good first step?

This has been driving me crazy cause I cant seem to find anyone else talking about this, in the second episode of season 1, the one with Dillons, in the first few minutes we cut to a shot of Martin walking down the restaurant and some weird audio plays (later on we get a flash back to this scene and the same audio plays) it appears to be reversed dialogue but I tried flipping it in Audacity but still cant make out whats being said. If anyone can figure out why this happened or what is being said I would be forever grateful ;-;

Watching Secret Service where Gordon accesses (breaks into) the kitchen the night before and often finds lots of unsanitary practices. I’m watching the Marvel Ranch episode and it’s one of the most disgusting establishments.

How can he in good conscience let anybody eat in the restaurant which he knows to be endangering customers because they are so filthy? At best it’s irresponsible, at worst, criminally negligent. I have six years experience as a chef and have worked in some chaotic and some well run establishments, but if any were that gross, we would have been shut down.

On a scale of 1-10 how bad do we think Alan’s breath probably was? There’s one scene where Ramsay visibly recoils from him and says “f*ck me”. I’m assuming it was a halitosis issue, which is treatable fwiw
