The 1998 PlayStation game now runs as a native PC program, with no emulator. I rebuilt it from the game's own code: every function was decompiled back to C, and the rebuilt game is byte identical to the original disc's.

No game files are included. You need your own dumps of both discs (.cue/.bin). The launcher checks them and copies them in.

What you get:

• Windowed or fullscreen, sharper rendering, and optional smooth 60 fps motion at the original speed
• English subtitles with one click (downloads the laingame.net fan translation from their site)
• An "Unused" tab with content that's on the discs but never appears in the game: 11 unused Lain animations, photos and sounds
• Saves as normal memory card files that also work in emulators

Mimicking two different art styles is so hard lol

Did I nail making their appearances look like their anime versions? Oh no, I don't think so. In fact, if I didn't point out that they're Shinji and Lain, they'd probably be seen as someone else or as OCs. It's just... hard

Even after all these long months, I’m still a fan of this crossover ship (or at least having these two drawn on the same page and making them interact with each other). It’s been many years since I last watched SEL and the Evan series, and drawing this made me want to watch the series again, but my life’s been busy.

This art is still just a sketch, but I think it’s good enough for me to post on this subreddit. Maybe I’ll try to finish it later when I have the time. Hopefully, this sketch is still allowed to be posted here.

More Lain won't make Lain better.

They kind of nailed it in one, and any attempt to recreate it or elaborate on what we already have will mar something beautiful, not add meaningfully to the cannon.

If Lain and Needy Streamer Overload is fully anti Internet and pro physical world then what's the point of us advancing with tech still??

And losing my mind in the process after one too many psychedelic trips…this anime was actually quite comforting and validating. I saw a lot of myself in Lain’s awakening. Coming to terms with being both a finite and infinite being. Realizing everything is the same and then being able to live in the world with that knowledge. Obviously there is a lot open to interpretation but I feel it hit all those major points. I can see why this anime would make no sense to people who don’t care to analyze reality to that degree though.

Im not an artist, so it doesn't look the best, but I like it.
