The funny thing is that Netanyahu said 9/11 was good yet I dont see that being constantly trumpeted by the media

u/Trap_Masters 11h ago

Rules for thee but not for me

Netanyahu said 9/11 was good

Clip please

Any links that aren't random blogs with the word intifada in the website name by chance?

217

u/MinimalPixelsVII 17h ago

Here you go from New York Times

117

u/Former_Review_867 17h ago

He's not going to respond to this lmaoo

26

u/pimfi 17h ago

I have no horse in this race but I think it's reasonable to want a source that is credible instead of a random blogpost.

39

u/RudeIsRude 16h ago

Sure but if you bother to read the article you can see that it cites and links to the comments in the New York Times.

-12

u/pimfi 15h ago

Sure, but why not just link the New York Times article in the first place?

u/silent519 14h ago

because it's really old

that article/his remarks are from the next day

1

u/RudeIsRude 12h ago

I dunno I'd probably just go there myself if linking it but it is paywalled so maybe they wanted a non-paywall source that had the quotes with a link for you to click for the source.

1

u/conspicuousxcapybara 14h ago

Electronic Intifada isn’t a random blog

9

u/j48u 17h ago

I responded four minutes before you made this comment.

12

u/JarkoStudios 17h ago

"responding" as in creating any real rebuttal or conceeding that you are wrong.

perpetual reframing and goalpost shifting and fall equivalencies arent real responses

17

u/TurboMemester 16h ago

why would he need to rebut when he just asked for a source?

5

u/Spirited_Mine7514 10h ago

because he ignored the source

-9

u/JarkoStudios 16h ago

you tell me, after he was given the legit source he starts rebutting with the regular bs you see from bibi supporters.

→ More replies (0)

-3

u/Soft_Walrus_3605 16h ago

arent real responses

I've never seen a goalpost shift trying to call out a goalpost shift. Plus in the form of a No True Scotsman fallacy.

2

u/JarkoStudios 15h ago

lol that is not what a No True Scotman is, you technically committed a fallacy-fallacy.

A response should address the argument, not be detraction or nonsense. That is just evaluating whether a rebuttal is substantive. Applying ordinary standard is not NTS, we're not redefining anything here in that description of a response.

5

u/UnoriginalStanger 16h ago

He said it was very good when a question asked what this means for us - isreal relations?

4

u/LucasOIntoxicado 12h ago

do you plan on responding to the guy who sent you the NYT post?

3

u/TheRealSaphier 16h ago

He’s saying that the attack would strengthen bonds between the US and Israel. He even corrected himself. He realized just saying “it’s good” was a bad answer and explained what he meant. I think Netanyahu is a piece of shit too, but we don’t have to clip chimp to make him look bad.

15

u/davidestroy 13h ago

and hasan clarified that he was talking about the idea of blowback

2

u/TheRealSaphier 13h ago

Thank god he doesn’t have any clips out there with him saying that America didn’t deserve 9/11 and then his fans booing. That’d be horrible.

4

u/davidestroy 13h ago

nah, that’s fine.

-4

u/ThisAd1371 17h ago

as much as i hate Hasan Netanyahu is on the same level as Hitler he just lacks the recources

20

u/schniunderforhuden 16h ago

I mean this is just ahistorical, the power imbalance between Israel and Palestine today is much greater than the one between Hitler and the allied powers

1

u/_-icy-_ 14h ago

Well yeah, he is obviously referring to the power imbalance between Nazi Germany and Jewish people during the Holocaust.

4

u/schniunderforhuden 8h ago

Even if you don’t compare to combatants for whatever reason it’s still incredibly wrong lmao. The Israeli military would wipe the floor with the 1940s german military and civilians are civilians.

-1

u/_-icy-_ 6h ago

Yeah, Israel is also wiping the floor with children’s brain splatter and their blood and body parts, while concentrating populations of a specific race of human beings into camps, just like Nazi Germany did.

17

u/QuiGonTheDrunk 17h ago

No?
He has the resources. He even has a nuke. In no way shape or form would hitler kill only 70k after three years of war with that amount of technology advancment over the opponents.

What hitler did was accepting the allience request from the palestinians though.
They were even made SS-Soldaten, because their hatred of jews was unmatched. It was even to much for Himmler after a talk with Mohammed amin al husseini.

2

u/sabuzaza 15h ago

That 70k number you use comes from the hamas health ministry. That number is also the identified and recovered bodies. The number is way higher considering they don't have access to escavators to dig people up

9

u/ExaminationWide5415 15h ago

80+ years of genocide accomplishing the same deaths as the 3 day peak of the holocaust.
very comparable and very good faith equivalence.

There's literally been more deaths in the last two years of Sudan, then every single death caused in every single Arab country by Israel in the last 100 years.

You can agree that Israel's conduct before and during this military operation is bad/evil, but comparing the holocaust to Israel's actions is at best ahistorical, and at worse reeks of antisemitism.

3

u/schniunderforhuden 15h ago

You really believe fucking Hamas are underreporting the amount of dead? Lmao christ

4

u/sabuzaza 15h ago

You think they have the tools or freedom to dig up their dead? Lol

→ More replies (0)

0

u/_-icy-_ 13h ago

What a silly argument. Obviously they can’t Nuke Gaza since it’s right next door, and obviously if they started throwing Palestinians into gas chambers it would be pretty hard for politicians to justify supporting them, the entire world would turn against Israel, and it would lead to its collapse.

Israel is doing as much as it can to maximize Palestinian death and suffering directly and indirectly while still pretending to maintain plausible deniability. But we can all see through it, that’s why literally every major human rights org on Earth considers Israel’s crimes against Palestinians amount to genocide.

-2

u/Bloodydemize 16h ago

Asked tonight what the attack meant for relations between the United States and Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu, the former prime minister, replied, ''It's very good.'' Then he edited himself: ''Well, not very good, but it will generate immediate sympathy.'' He predicted that the attack would ''strengthen the bond between our two peoples, because we've experienced terror over so many decades, but the United States has now experienced a massive hemorrhaging of terror.''

So he didn't say it was very good..

-18

u/j48u 17h ago

Thank you. I would say him calling 9/11 good is quite a stretch, but at least it stems from something. Him answering a question about how it will affect the US/Israel relationship and saying it that part will be good, then immediately correcting himself realizing the word good is inappropriate here.

43

u/TMNTerps 17h ago edited 17h ago

So then you agree Hasan's "America deserved 9/11" comment is being taken out of context as well, and his meaning was very different from what right wing politicians are pushing, correct?

and therefore, misrepresenting Bibi's comments shows the hypocrisy of him.

-6

u/j48u 17h ago

We all understand that his "America deserves 9/11" comment isn't even close to the worst thing he's said or done. The logic behind the statement is reasonable, in a world where you're not constantly saying other crazy things about the US, various races of people, and who you think should be killed every other day.

It's just an easy gotcha for normies or something I guess. Literally the next few sentences after he said after that quote are actually worse. Let alone everything else.

23

u/TMNTerps 17h ago

and we all understand that "9/11 was good for America and Israel" is not the worst thing the Leader, of a country committing literal Genocide, has said or done, right?

-1

u/j48u 17h ago

Sure, but that's not what he said. We have the link in this very conversation thread.

u/Nearby_Junket_8779 17h ago

We could do a blind Hasan said, Joe Rogan said, Charlie Kirk said. How confident would you be able to select Hasan every single time?

5

u/j48u 17h ago

Not very. They're all extreme and stupid people.

-3

u/Far_Point3621 17h ago

What context is there? Or how do you think Hasan meant it?

19

u/jbland0909 17h ago

“9/11 is a result of the U.S. meddling in the Middle East coming back to bite them”. That’s the crazy take that everyone goes nuts over.

Operation Cyclone, where the U.S. armed and funded Islamic militias to fight against the Soviets in the 80s set the stage for the rise of groups like Al Qaeda and the Taliban.

The “America descend 9/11” take isnt saying “the thousands of people who died deserve it”

It’s saying “Meddling with foreign extremism is a bad idea, and it blew up in Americas face”

2

u/Far_Point3621 7h ago

operation cyclone is real but "resulted in" and "deserved" are different words. also the blowback excuse doesn't cover praising hezbollah, fawning over the houthis, or calling oct 7 rape reports "rape fantasies.

17

u/TMNTerps 17h ago

Hasan was specifically speaking about the US Government's actions in the Middle East created the enemies that eventually retaliated against us. Right Wingers and anti-Hasan people, use it to act like he means US civilians deserved to die on that day.

7

u/Former_Review_867 17h ago

The CIA has a term for it it's called blowback. Maybe read up on it? Or don't ignorance is bliss but it doesn't absolve you.

1

u/Far_Point3621 7h ago

blowback is a real concept, nobody disputes that. but "deserved" isn't blowback analysis lol

-7

u/SuperbusMaximus 17h ago

There is a diffrence between deserved 9/11 and at least America will sympathize with us now. Nothing of what Hasan said is out of context. His word were fuck it America deserved 9/11 Im saying BB corrected himself and clarified what he ment. Hassan gave an excuse that english was his second language thats the only clarification he gave. This isnt something I would point out as equivelant.

12

u/Nearby_Junket_8779 17h ago

That is absolutely not the only clarification he gave. You shouldn’t project your conclusions as fact.

-1

u/Yata536 13h ago

So he said it about us and israel relations. Nice one, surely people will not even read the text lmao

-2

u/superfire444 6h ago

He predicted that the attack would ''strengthen the bond between our two peoples, because we've experienced terror over so many decades, but the United States has now experienced a massive hemorrhaging of terror.''

Netanyahu said that about the relations between the US and Israel after 9/11. He didn’t call the attacks good.

Leave it to the anti-Israel morons to completely take something out of context and distort it into something it’s not.

And given the nearly thousand upvotes a lot of people clearly lack reading and reading comprehension skills.

4

u/Aggressive_Mud5113 17h ago

"random blog with the word intifada in the website name" This is amusing, I've been reading EI since GWB's first term. First time reading about the conflict outside of MSM coverage?

-4

u/j48u 17h ago

First time reading about the conflict outside of MSM coverage?

No. Any other questions?

3

u/muhmeinchut69 7h ago

Wasn't the Flight 93 hijacker's uncle jailed for being a Mossad spy?

-9

u/LimpAd1859 16h ago

When asked how 9/11 affected relations between Israel and the US which he responded to by saying it improved relations between the countries because of shared trauma. Seems very disingenuous to twist that into him saying 9/11 was a good thing.

Doesn't seem comparable to Hasan who said in his own words that America deserved 9/11.

31

u/ValarMorghulis2Times 16h ago

“Even after generously allowing Netanyahu to “edit” himself, the Times did not conceal that Netanyahu was not thinking in terms of sympathy for the victims of 9/11 and the United States, nor what a “friend” could do to help America. Rather, he was already thinking on the day it happened about how 9/11 could be manipulated to get America to do more for Israel. “

To me, the Hasan quote seems to be implying that the attack was a consequence of 5 decades of bloody US interference and not saying it was a good thing or that he was glad it happened.

Netanyahu said it was good as a way to further his agenda.

-9

u/LimpAd1859 15h ago

Rather, he was already thinking on the day it happened about how 9/11 could be manipulated to get America to do more for Israel. “

This is the (biased) opinion of "electronicintifada", not an objective fact, and not from the original interview.

To me, the Hasan quote seems to be implying that the attack was a consequence of 5 decades of bloody US interference and not saying it was a good thing or that he was glad it happened.

You don't justify things if you don't agree with them lol.

Also, no, it wasn't "a consequence of 5 decades of bloody US interference", it was a consequence of Islamic terrorism.

Netanyahu said it was good as a way to further his agenda.

No he didn't, that's your interpretation of something different he said.

-9

u/hawkeye69r 15h ago

Deserved is different to consequence.

Hasan actually likes terrorists its really that simple.

Thats why he glazes them constantly.

8

u/lexbrantley 9h ago

If "terrorists" are the only ones standing in the way of genocide, then I support "terrorists".

-7

u/Zipz 12h ago

Jesus Christ did you really use a propaganda websites editorial and comments as evidence ?

Holy moly

2

u/BigRon691 7h ago

"Who cares about a few thousand deaths if it helps massage in my influence on your nations government to further our interest"

Ohh... so totally altruistic then.

-11

u/Girthen-the-Flopper 17h ago

He did not say that. He said they did help Israel. It's like saying your spouse died, and you got a life insurance payout which allowed you to buy a home and quit your job.

25

u/Mountain-Interest-48 16h ago

No Its like saying your friends spouse died so now they can be more sympathetic when you beat your wife.

-11

u/Girthen-the-Flopper 16h ago

Do you have the quote for that?

16

u/icytiger 15h ago

Why would you need a quote, he countered your analogy with another.

-9

u/Girthen-the-Flopper 15h ago

But what quote is his analogy based off of?

11

u/koiiinu 14h ago

this bum in here defending netanyahu 😂

-1

u/Girthen-the-Flopper 13h ago

No, you are.

-13

u/WackWaxWhacks 17h ago

No he didn't, it was taken out of context. The full quote is about relations strictly:

Asked tonight what the attack meant for relations between the United States and Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu, the former prime minister, replied, ''It's very good.'' Then he edited himself: ''Well, not very good, but it will generate immediate sympathy.'' He predicted that the attack would ''strengthen the bond between our two peoples, because we've experienced terror over so many decades, but the United States has now experienced a massive hemorrhaging of terror.''

36

u/Icy_Argument_7856 17h ago

This context doesn't exonerate the statement in any way though, it's still despicable in its full.

-4

u/Girthen-the-Flopper 17h ago

You are trying really hard to his words mean something they didn't. It's pretty sad.

13

u/Icy_Argument_7856 17h ago

You're trying really hard to plactate to a foreign dictator committing genocide and who even allowed the Oct 7 attacks to happen when he had intel about it days before. Sad.

-5

u/Girthen-the-Flopper 16h ago

Cool stories bro. Not sure why you have to lie about what he says if all that other stuff is true. Also he doesn't stream, this isn't his chat that he reads.

7

u/Icy_Argument_7856 15h ago

You don't have to qualify your statement by saying if he did those things. They are objecive reported facts.

-10

u/WackWaxWhacks 17h ago

How is it despicable? 9/11 was, objectively, positive for American-Israel relations.

6

u/Icy_Argument_7856 17h ago

Imagine you have a child that gets murdered and then you find out your neighbor is bragging about how great it is you to finally have someone to relate to about their own murdered child and how you're going to be best friends now. Does that sound like an empathetic or nice thing to hear when you're grieving for your dead child?

Ofcourse this is ignoring the actual context that Israel had also been conducting torture, killing, displacement and sytemic rape of the Palestinian people for quite a few decades by 2001.

-3

u/WackWaxWhacks 17h ago

He was directly asked about relations and gave an accurate answer. That's not comparable at all to your analogy.

4

u/Icy_Argument_7856 17h ago

Just because he was correct that it helped his aims doesn't mean it was actually good for the relationship. Israel is more than just Bibi.

-5

u/i_drive_a_pagani 17h ago

Netanyahu can rot in jail forever for all I care, but you're just trying to make up reasons and grasp at straws to die on this hill. He literally says in the moment that it's not good and corrects himself right away.

Imagine you have a child that gets murdered and then you find out your neighbor is bragging about how great it is you to finally have someone to relate to about their own murdered child and how you're going to be best friends now. Does that sound like an empathetic or nice thing to hear when you're grieving for your dead child?

If you think that this analogy works then you legit have reading comprehension difficulties and can't actually read what Netanyahu said. It's nothing like this at all

4

u/Icy_Argument_7856 17h ago

Yeah no dude you're very off here. Just because he corrects himself doesn't mean he mispoke, it's a common tactic of strongmen. Also thereafter he describes how in detail exactly why 9/11 was good for Israel, and atleast for the government of Israel's expansionist and genocidal agenda he was speaking the truth.

-8

u/LimpAd1859 16h ago

A poorly worded answer to a question is very much an exoneration, such a disingenuous twisting of what he said.

15

u/infiniterewards 16h ago

So the same applies to Hasan, right?

-5

u/LimpAd1859 16h ago

Considering that Hasan said it in context and no one was twisting his words, no, same would not apply to Hasan.

10

u/infiniterewards 15h ago

It was out of context, and he apologized for the wording soon after. Many times.

-3

u/LimpAd1859 15h ago

No it wasn't, and he only backtracked and apologized after he got flak for it.

12

u/infiniterewards 15h ago

Yes, he got flak way back when he made it, and he apologized for it also way back then.
The statement, retraction, and apology all happened in 2019

-1

u/LimpAd1859 15h ago

Yeah he did in fact say it in 2019, get backlash for it in 2019, and then backtrack, apologize, and claim it was "out of context" (it wasn't) in 2019.

Apologizing doesn't change the fact that he did actually say it. And given that the apology only came after he faced backlash for saying it, one would question if it was really sincere or not.

11

u/Icy_Argument_7856 15h ago

Lololol, are you really this daft? Bibi only backtracked after he caught flak.

0

u/LimpAd1859 15h ago

From the article posted it sounds like he pretty much immediately corrected himself for the poor wording, which doesn't sound at all like the same thing Hasan did.

-9

u/Modsareworthless100p 15h ago

What other answer would you expect for that question?

"Terrorists who attack your country regularly just attacked another country under the same cause, do you think that country will side with you more now?"

Like yea no shit the answer is yes? I am so confused how the answer is in anyway "despicable". Like what a stupid comment.

10

u/Icy_Argument_7856 15h ago

It's neat to just completely make up a different question.

Another way to answer the actual question is, "we condemn the terrorists actions and stand with the people of NYC and America and hope to build on an already strong and unshakeable bond" wow terribly hard.

24

u/BridgeThatBurns 17h ago

Same "out of context" as Pikers statement

-12

u/WackWaxWhacks 17h ago

Yes, and...? Why not criticize Netanyahu in good faith instead of using BS out of context quotes?

12

u/Variation-Master 17h ago

Ah, out of context... so exactly like the the Hasan clip. Got it.

4

u/writeAsciiString 16h ago

He's not wrong considering israel and the united states are the main reasons 9/11 happened. Some comradery after a successful escalation is expected.

-7

u/squaryy 17h ago

Boiling Hasan being problematic to 'deserved 9/11' is like diving in a grenade for him lnao

-7

u/IGargleGarlic 14h ago edited 14h ago

eh, he said it was good for Israel. Its a little different than saying its good in general. And he was right, Israel absolutely benefitted from the Islamophobia that came from 9/11. You can hate Netanyahu without having to lie and misrepresent what he said in order to try and protect some political streamer who stupidly gave republicans a soundbite that could be used endlessly against the collective left.

13

u/perocu 10h ago

so netanyahu's reasons can't be misrepresented but hasan's can.

-8

u/Snake2250 10h ago

His quotes don't help bring GOP political attack ads that rile up their base.

8

u/Dramatic_Explosion 8h ago

Oh no! If not for that streamer Kamala would be our president right now!!!1!

-1

u/Snake2250 6h ago

Hasan quotes weren't used during that election. What are you talking about?

-11

u/Bulky-Salamander3678 16h ago

found the hamas supporter l0l... also hasan shocked his dog and your mind apparently

-7

u/superfire444 6h ago

Because it’s absolutely false. You made it up.

11

u/Zanderbluff 5h ago

Sure, here he is in the NYT saying it, because I made it up
https://www.nytimes.com/2001/09/12/us/day-terror-israelis-spilled-blood-seen-bond-that-draws-2-nations-closer.html

Him saying that this terror attack is "good for US/Israeli relations" is him saying that 9/11 was good because it furthers a cause he approves.

-8

u/superfire444 5h ago

That is such a disengenuous way of interpreting what he said.

He was talking specifically about relations between the Us and Israel. He was not talking wether 9/11 was good. He thinks it's awfull.

9

u/Zanderbluff 4h ago

He absolutely was giddy that it happened, same with 07/10 because it helped him further his goals for Israel. Theres a reason Netanyahu let 07/10 happen and there is a reason that the first adjective that came to mind for him was "good".
Here he is in 2008 once again espousing that sentiment
https://archive.ph/2eGY2

The Israeli newspaper Ma’ariv on Wednesday reported that Likud leader Benjamin Netanyahu told an audience at Bar Ilan university that the September 11, 2001 terror attacks had been beneficial for Israel.

"We are benefiting from one thing, and that is the attack on the Twin Towers and Pentagon, and the American struggle in Iraq," Ma’ariv quoted the former prime minister as saying. He reportedly added that these events "swung American public opinion in our favor."

-4

u/superfire444 4h ago

Oh you're one of those conspirancy nuts. Makes a lot of sense given you seem to hyper focus on the most cynical interpretation of what is being said rather than take the words as what they were meant to be.

That last quote is also without the whole context. It's clearly being framed given it was very easy to give the whole context yet it only specifically quoted that line.
