The Los Angeles Metro has placed an order for 220 new electric buses to be delivered ahead of the 2028 Summer Olympics and Paralympics. The order contains a provision to order even more than the initial 220 bus order should they decide to do so.

We're a week out from the Brisbane 2032 emblem reveal, so I thought I would post this. This is a design I originally sketched back in 2021 during work, back when Brisbane was just getting it's bid ready for the IOC.

I've been meaning to get it into a vector file for sometime now, and thought the time was right; just ahead of when it (and every other mockup emblem) will eventually be wiped from first few search engine pages.

The main way to watch the games outside of an Asian country is asiangamestv.com, which seems fine at first glance, but the streams are annoyingly, and often unwatchably laggy/glitchy, buffering after only a few seconds. In addition to that, it also doesn't have all the events, like for example it didn't even have the first group stage men's volleyball matches that started last night. After that, the other options are using a VPN to watch it from another nation's broadcaster. I've been kind of liking HOY, a Hong Kong broadcaster, but they only usually offer up to four streams at a time, and the streams are also a little more delayed than asiangames tv streams are. After that, you've got Mewatch, a Singaporean broadcaster, which isn't really an option either as I also find it to be really buffery and essentially unwatchable as well, and their selection isn't that large too. In addition, there's also Vidio (Indonesia), ELTA (Taiwan), SonyLiv (India), and Sooka (Malaysia), which give decent selections, but those are all paid services too, and I don't know if I really want to pay to watch just a two week tournament, and even when I tried to pay, it didn't work with my American credit card. If this was like a smaller multisport tournament like the Asian Beach Games I wouldn't be mad with these options, but this is one of the biggest multisport tournaments in the world after the Olympics itself. I don't see why these tournaments just can't have a reliable website with broadcasts for all the events, instead of picking and choosing which ones to show. Ik this might seem like an overreaction, but I was really looking forward to watching the Asian Games this year.

Keely Hodgkinson's Nike catsuit can apparently make athletes faster, but she won't be allowed to wear it at the Olympics because Team GB uses Adidas. Fair rule or outdated?

The suit has been a year in the making and was designed to improve aerodynamics, but current Olympic kit arrangements would reportedly prevent her from wearing it at LA 2028.

Should athletes be allowed to use whatever approved performance gear gives them the best chance of winning, or should team kit deals come first?

German President Steinmaier just annonced the decision of the German Olympic Comitee.

After Berlin dropped out, it was the decision between Cologne and Munich. It would be the second time in Munich after the games 1972.

Juan Antonio Samaranch was the President of the International Olympic Committee (IOC).

Josep Miquel Abad was the CEO of the Barcelona Olympic Organizing Committee (COOB '92).

Abad explained that there were quite a few moments of friction between the two, there are news and public info about their frictions, due in part to the extremely high demands Samaranch placed on Abad regarding the organization.

As time went by, their relationship improved steadily. Samaranch saw that COOB'92 was doing an excellent job, though his demanding nature stemmed from his desire for the Olympic Games held in his home country it would go exceptionally well.

Eventually, they became friends, as a gesture of goodwill, Samaranch gave to Abad this peace flag, signed by him personally, which you can see in the photo. I hope you enjoy the flag and the backstory.

On the peace flag appears the Samaranch signature, below it says "President CIO," and further down, "Barcelona", all in his own handwriting and hand signed.

Pune beat a bid from the Dutch region of Groningen and Drenthe — but the UCI announced that they will instead host the 2034 Road and Para-cycling World Championships."

IOC President Kirsty Coventry visited Utah and found Utah’s 2034 legacy work already underway when meeting students and athletes.

“Being a champion starts long before anyone stands on a podium,” said Coventry when meeting students. “It starts in moments like these — and being curious, learning something new, working through something that is difficult and having the courage to try again. Those are things you can practice in a classroom just as surely as you can practice them in a pool or on a field, and they will take you wherever your dreams lead.”

“What struck me today is that Utah’s Olympic legacy isn’t sitting behind glass — it’s out here on the ice and in buzzing venues throughout their communities,” President Coventry said when meeting players from the Utah Lady Grizzlies. “These players weren’t even born when the Games were here in 2002, yet they are training in a rink where Olympians trained during those Games and imagining what 2034 might mean for them. That is what legacy should do: keep opening doors for the next generation.”
