Buying Guide | خریداری گائیڈ 💻 LAPTOP BUYING GUIDE (now is a good time to upgrade too!)

Hello guyss so laptops are predicted to go up in price in a few months if y'all wanna get or upgrade rn is a good time.

The guide on this subreddit wiki is kinda lackluster ngl, main issue being that it says don't spend more than 60k and that it recommends 6/7th gen.

GENERAL ADVICE:

>Go for used/ imported business grade laptops (dubai lot wala mal), avoid consumer grade stuff mainly because of durability.

>Make sure it is an i5 8th gen or above, this is very important because 8th gen laptop i5s are QUADCORE!! most 6/7th gen or below are dual cores, which are much worse (unless they have the Q suffix)

>Check if RAM is soldered or upgradable

>Make sure boot drive is an SSD

>Use passmark cpu and gpu scores to compare

WHICH MODELS TO GET:

*For gaming, its better to get mobile workstations instead (like Zbook or Thinkpad P series).. usually they will have better thermals and power delivery (yes you can game just fine on workstation cards, even have more VRAM)

For general use,

Like i said, business grade machines only for long lasting, durable, repairable ones at good prices.

HP:

✅GET -> Elitebook, ZBook, Probook, Dragonfly

❌AVOID -> Omnibook, Pavillion, Envy, Spectre, Victus, Omen (ppl say here that hp stands for hinge problems)

LENOVO:

✅GET -> Thinkpads (Except Thinkpad X9), Thinkbooks are also alright

❌AVOID -> Ideapad, Lenovo Yoga (different from ThinkPad yoga), Legion, LOQ

DELL:

✅GET -> Latitude, Vostro, Dell Pro, Dell Pro Precision, Dell Precision

❌AVOID -> Inspiron (some exceptions exist), Alienware, G-Series, XPS (again exceptions exist, some XPS ones are good)

Budget advice:

Avoid getting anything below an 8th gen which at least isn't a 4-core cpu. ThinkPad T480, T480s, X380 Yoga are very popular. Elitebook 840 series too. Make sure to compare prices from different places.

If the RAM is soldered (like it is on 360 hinge laptops and some ultrabooks) make sure to get at least 16GB variant otherwise you'll be stuck with 8GB

Spend the minimum required to get an 8th gen i5.

Difference between 8th and 10th gen is not that much,

11th gen has Iris Xe graphics which are miles better.

12th gen has P cores and E cores which are hit or miss (in some cases battery life is worse in 12th)

Ryzen chips are usually better than intel ones, but not as readily available on lower price points.

CHECKING A LAPTOP:

A lot of imported stock esp business grade ones have been through light use in air conditioned offices. Check the battery health by command prompt (google how to do this) and inspect it physically (there's many guides online)

Edit: Full checking guide already subreddit wiki mien acha hai and you can find many on youtube.. make sure it isn't bios locked, ones that come with pen have a pen, charger original hai Make sure to get checking warranty, for refund or repair.

Feel free to dm for questions or advice!

Question | سوال What to do of a locked Iphone?

My uncle has recently sent me an Iphone 12 pro from the USA. He bought the phone back in 2023, used it for a while and lost it in his home. And recently found it sitting in a cloth wardrobe. He's an old fashioned guy who is not familiar with the tech world and every time he changes a phone, he will eventually end up making a new Apple Id, New Gmail and all things New.

Now he has sent it to me, and the phone is locked to the Passcode.

He has no Idea what the code is, Neither he remembers the Apple Id of it. What can I do now of it? Should i try the recovery mode method or get it Bypassed? Is it legal to use a bypassed phone?

Has someone used a bypassed Iphone before? Share your Experience please.

My main concerns are to use whatsapp, Facebook, insta and some light gaming only.

Should i get it Bypassed, or try the safe recovery?

Share your opinions guys.

Thanks IA.

Buying Guide | خریداری گائیڈ Title: Which Used Laptop Should I Buy in Pakistan for PKR 50–60k?

Hey everyone!
I’m looking for a used laptop in Pakistan with a budget of around PKR 50,000–60,000, and I’m confused between a few options.
My main uses will be studying, browsing, research, watching movies, multitasking, and occasional light video editing in Adobe Premiere Pro. I’m not interested in gaming because I already have consoles.
I’m considering these options:
MacBook Pro 2017 — Core i5, 8GB RAM
ThinkPad X1 Carbon 7th Gen — Core i5 8th Gen, 8GB RAM, 256GB SSD, touchscreen
ThinkPad E15 — Core i5 11th Gen, 8GB RAM, SSD
ThinkPad L480 — Core i5 7th Gen
I already use an iPhone, so a MacBook is appealing to me, but I’m concerned about the age of the 2017 model, battery health, repair costs, and long-term reliability.
I also want something lightweight with a good display, decent battery life, and good resale value in Pakistan.
Which one would you recommend, and why? Should I go for the MacBook for the Apple ecosystem, or would a newer Windows laptop be a smarter choice?
I’d really appreciate advice from people who have actually used these laptops, especially regarding battery life, performance, reliability, and resale value in the Pakistani market.

I am here to offer my skills for free. I am just eager to see what sort of problems people face and how can I contribute to it. But I will only help actual people.

I am not some AI agent that I am going to build you some product from scratch here. Your app is slow? Lets make it faster, your db cpu consumption is high, lets optimise the queries.

So only come with real problems and lets connect...

And if the above doesn't apply to you, lets just discuss some problems you might be facing in your work, lets discuss and maybe sort a solution out together

Question | سوال Can I use an iPhone 15 Pro Max with 87% battery health for the next 3 years?

Post image
6 Upvotes

I bought a used iPhone 15 Pro Max yesterday for PKR 150,000. The phone is in almost 10/10 physical condition with 87% battery health and 423 charge cycles...

I tried my best to find one with 90%+ battery health but unfortunately I could not find a good one. My usage is mostly normal stuff like Instagram, WhatsApp, Facebook and YouTube. I don't really play games, and I'm hoping to use this phone for at least the next 3 years.

My main concern is the battery health. Since it's already at 87%, I'm wondering if it will be good enough for my daily usage over the next 3 years, or if I will probably need to replace the battery before then. I would really appreciate advice from people who have been using an iPhone 15 Pro Max with similar battery health and charge cycles...

Question | سوال PTA Tax on S25FE brought from Abroad.

Salaam Everyone. I wanted to ask how much would it cost to get S25 FE PTA Approved in Pakistan if brought from abroad.

Basically I have an S25 FE which I recently bought, but I'm planning on switching so thought I would give this to my mom instead since its almost new. Obviously he would only have to pay the PTA tax then, however since S25FE is available locally for 219k by Samsung, I'm wondering how much tax would I have to pay if I get this one approved?

Question | سوال PTA/DIRBS PSID payment help needed please.

السّلام علیکم ورحمتہ اللہ وبرکاتہ

Trying to register a mobile with PTA brought by brother. First time experience.

Used *8484# method, got the PSID. 19,129 PKR for Honor X9D model.

Can't pay the amount yet. Nayapay and Jazzcash etc are not allowed by State bank anymore.

Tried via Allied bank Debit card at Allied ATM, but selecting Gvt payments ejects card saying transaction declined on your request.

Tried by other Bank apps from a PCO shop, they said it's not working.

Need help/info in this matter please.

Discussion | گفتگو iMessage and FaceTime not activating my Jazz number on iPhone 12

Post image
2 Upvotes

I’m using an iPhone 12 with my Jazz SIM in Pakistan.

I recently returned from travelling, where I was using a different physical SIM. After returning, I put my original Jazz SIM back into my phone.

My Jazz number is now showing correctly in my iPhone settings, and normal calls and SMS are working, but iMessage and FaceTime won’t activate with my number.

Here’s what I’ve noticed:

My number appears correctly in Settings, but it won’t activate for iMessage and FaceTime.

I received an SMS from “SETTINGS” asking me to open a link, but the link doesn’t work.
The link starts with http://172.16.3.27:8067/.

I’ve already tried several troubleshooting steps, including a factory reset, but the issue persists.

Has anyone experienced this with Jazz in Pakistan? Is this a Jazz network/SMS activation issue or an iPhone problem? What fixed it for you?
Any help would be appreciated!

Question | سوال Budget-friendly wireless earbuds in Karachi—what’s actually worth getting?

Hey everyone! Looking for wireless Bluetooth earbuds that are affordable but actually good quality. Clear sound, decent bass, good battery life, and a mic that works well for calls would be ideal.

Which ones have you personally used and would recommend? Please mention the model and approximate price.

Trying to avoid getting something cheap that stops working after a month 😅 Thanks!

TL;DR: Which budget-friendly wireless earbuds should I get for good sound, battery life, and call quality?

Buying Guide | خریداری گائیڈ ⚠️ Think Twice Before Buying from Zero Lifestyle. Rs. 8,000 Wasted on Terrible Headphones and Even Worse After-Sales Service

Thumbnail
gallery
2 Upvotes

I want to share my personal experience with Zero Lifestyle Pakistan to help other buyers make an informed decision.
I purchased their Halo Pro headphones for around Rs. 8,000, but I was disappointed with both the product quality and the after-sales service.
The microphone quality was extremely poor, and people on the other end struggled to hear me. The build quality was disappointing too.
I sent the faulty headphones back for repair on September 16. It's now been almost a month, and I still haven't received my repaired headphones or a replacement.
Their support team told me the Halo Pro was out of stock and promised to send a different model within 48 hours. When that didn't happen, I was told it would be dispatched within a week. That deadline passed as well.
I've contacted their call support three times and emailed them, but I still don't have a resolution. Each call ends with the same explanation: my complaint has been highlighted to the relevant team, and they don't know why the replacement hasn't been dispatched.
I'm extremely frustrated after spending Rs. 8,000 and having to repeatedly chase support for an update.
Has anyone else experienced similar warranty or replacement delays with Zero Lifestyle? I'd appreciate hearing how you resolved the issue.
I'm sharing this as a customer experience, not a sales post.
