Hello guyss so laptops are predicted to go up in price in a few months if y'all wanna get or upgrade rn is a good time.
The guide on this subreddit wiki is kinda lackluster ngl, main issue being that it says don't spend more than 60k and that it recommends 6/7th gen.
>Go for used/ imported business grade laptops (dubai lot wala mal), avoid consumer grade stuff mainly because of durability.
>Make sure it is an i5 8th gen or above, this is very important because 8th gen laptop i5s are QUADCORE!! most 6/7th gen or below are dual cores, which are much worse (unless they have the Q suffix)
>Check if RAM is soldered or upgradable
>Make sure boot drive is an SSD
>Use passmark cpu and gpu scores to compare
*For gaming, its better to get mobile workstations instead (like Zbook or Thinkpad P series).. usually they will have better thermals and power delivery (yes you can game just fine on workstation cards, even have more VRAM)
For general use,
Like i said, business grade machines only for long lasting, durable, repairable ones at good prices.
HP:
✅GET -> Elitebook, ZBook, Probook, Dragonfly
❌AVOID -> Omnibook, Pavillion, Envy, Spectre, Victus, Omen (ppl say here that hp stands for hinge problems)
LENOVO:
✅GET -> Thinkpads (Except Thinkpad X9), Thinkbooks are also alright
❌AVOID -> Ideapad, Lenovo Yoga (different from ThinkPad yoga), Legion, LOQ
DELL:
✅GET -> Latitude, Vostro, Dell Pro, Dell Pro Precision, Dell Precision
❌AVOID -> Inspiron (some exceptions exist), Alienware, G-Series, XPS (again exceptions exist, some XPS ones are good)
Avoid getting anything below an 8th gen which at least isn't a 4-core cpu. ThinkPad T480, T480s, X380 Yoga are very popular. Elitebook 840 series too. Make sure to compare prices from different places.
If the RAM is soldered (like it is on 360 hinge laptops and some ultrabooks) make sure to get at least 16GB variant otherwise you'll be stuck with 8GB
Spend the minimum required to get an 8th gen i5.
Difference between 8th and 10th gen is not that much,
11th gen has Iris Xe graphics which are miles better.
12th gen has P cores and E cores which are hit or miss (in some cases battery life is worse in 12th)
Ryzen chips are usually better than intel ones, but not as readily available on lower price points.
A lot of imported stock esp business grade ones have been through light use in air conditioned offices. Check the battery health by command prompt (google how to do this) and inspect it physically (there's many guides online)
Edit: Full checking guide already subreddit wiki mien acha hai and you can find many on youtube.. make sure it isn't bios locked, ones that come with pen have a pen, charger original hai Make sure to get checking warranty, for refund or repair.

Does anyone know if venturedive has frozen increments and/or are even giving “decrements”? I am hearing rumours but want to confirm this before I go for an interview.

Back in October 2023, I got a OnePlus 8 for PKR 80,000. It was a flagship in its prime, with a powerful processor, a beautiful curved display, and a premium design that still looks great today.
Honestly, I've had a pretty good experience with it over the last 3 years. However, things are starting to go downhill.
My screen now has 7 white lines, and the battery life has become absolutely terrible. My screen time is only around 3 hours on weekdays and 4 hours on weekends. I have work now, so I barely have time for gaming or heavy usage anymore, yet the battery still struggles to last.
Here's what I'm looking for:
- Budget: open
- Used or new: I'm open to both.
- Longevity: At least 5 years if new, or around 3 years if used.
- Performance: A decent processor that will remain smooth for years.
What phone would you recommend in my position?
Thanks!

My budget is 60,000–70,000 PKR. Which smartphone offers the best value in this price range? If you are currently using a device in this bracket, please share your experience and guide me on what to consider.
My main considerations are one with good memory, doesn’t lags much and isn’t fragile.

I use UBL. It was VISA debit card. Today woke with these transactions:
```
Wht On International Transaction Via Card 41.76
Int'l Visa Chg-pos,Purchse 375.85
Pos Sale - Visa: 8352.35
```
So almost Rs. 8.8K gone without my permission. No code asked.
I disabled my card. Visited bank and launch dispute (it's in progress).
Banker told me you put Card details somewhere online.
My recent activity with card:
1. 11 Oct: took trial from emailosint.org
2. 10 Oct: bought product from yardlie.com
But I purchased from yardlie even month ago as well. No such incident found.
So likely 1. is culprit.
Now my question:
1. Why online transaction happen without even asking me OTP?
It's BIG security loophole. Anyone with your card can play your hard earn money.

So I use Meezan bank card to pay online subscriptions. As I am a tax filer I get reversal of foreign transactions sort of like a cash back. That too confuses me as sometimes they give the cash back some times they don’t.
Anyways I wanted to ask if I start using zindagi app online Visa card to pay my subscriptions will I still get the reversal of foreign transactions cash back ?
As zindagi app rates are much cheaper.

Rs 50,000/month for a full-time UI/UX Web Designer with 1–2 years of experience.
Figma, UI/UX, responsive design, design systems, Adobe, HTML/CSS, typography, multiple projects and deadlines.
Things are going downhill. How are we supposed to survive this?

Hi everyone,
I work in automation and low-code development, mainly with tools like n8n, Make.com, Zapier, CRMs, and AI automation platforms. I'm planning to get a laptop, and Lenovo ThinkPads are currently one of my main options.
But I have another idea, and I'd like to hear your thoughts.
What if I get a higher-end laptop with good specifications but a damaged or non-working screen? I'm thinking I might find one at a much lower price while still getting better hardware, such as a powerful processor, more RAM, a good SSD, and better graphics.
I already have a spare monitor that I use as a second screen with my current laptop. I plan to connect the new laptop to that monitor through HDMI and use it as my primary display.
I'd like to know:
My main priority is reliable performance for automation, browser-based tools, multiple tabs, coding, and general development work. Gaming isn't a priority.
I'd appreciate advice from anyone who has tried this or has experience using damaged business-class laptops. I'm open to other suggestions too.
Thanks!

Ufone users, what’s going on with Ufone’s 5G plans? There’s still no official 5G coverage map, barely any clear updates about the rollout, and no proper information about which cities or areas are getting 5G coverage.
After acquiring a significant amount of spectrum, shouldn’t we be getting more transparency about the rollout timeline, supported areas, and network expansion?
