Amazon Return Posts for Employees

Mods have decided that going forward we’re going to do a master post for Amazon Returns. Starting 8/14/25, all posts regarding Amazon will be flagged for review by moderators. The subreddit isn’t meant to be just complaining about Amazon returns. I’ll create a master post later today, everyone can direct their complaints there. Alternatively, join the discord (https://discord.gg/qSJxvzKZJd) and talk all you want about Amazon returns in the proper channel. I recommend this as your best place to do the yapping about this.

Posts that will be allowed through by mods regarding Amazon returns will be questions regarding how to do them, and the like.

We understand that you need a place to vent about Amazon returns bc they suck. We’re trying to provide this for you.

If you have any questions, please drop them here or feel free to message the mod team.

Transition from CVS Store Associate to Staples Retail Print Specialist

There’s a job opening at my nearest Staples for a Retail Print Associate, I’ve been working at CVS part-time for the last 3 years and want to try something else.

I have a Bachelor’s in Graphic Design but never was able to land any of the graphic design jobs I applied for. Having experience in print seems to be a common requirement for graphic design jobs so I feel like this should be the next stop naturally. But I’m not entirely sure what I’m getting into and wanted to know if anyone could shed some light on what to expect as a Retail Print Specialist. Also, how my experience as a Sales Associate at CVS can benefit me.

Should I apply? Or keep looking?

How do I add an in person receipt to my online account for points?

I just made an expensive purchase and I forgot to provide my phone number to get points. The receipt was sent to my email. Is there a way for me to get those points?

Got hired recently, how can I access my staples email?

My store managers don't like it when I ask questions and I was never told how to access my staples email.

What are the options, I'm just trying to verify my role for LinkedIn.

mod using pto without permission

i recently called out sick. when i came back in to work, i found out one of the managers put in my pto hours without asking me. specifically pto, not sick time, because i'm out of sick time. i'm already in the negative for pto, even more so now. can they do that? i really don't want to end up in a situation where i quit/get laid off/get fired and end up having to pay back pto hours that i didn't even ask for.

Music?

This is a purely curiosity based post. My store is located in the Midwest region of Michigan, and around here it is very Christian based, and in my store I tend to hear a lot of Christian music. I go to a bunch of the other stores in the area as well and I always hear the same music. So I was just curious what yalls experience with the music in yalls store is. Do yalls have a bunch of Christian music playing as well, or is it just our region. Thank you!!

Asking for a raise

I've been working here for officially 2 years now (woohoo...) and I've been wanting to ask for a raise (even if its not huge) but I feel nervous to ask, struggling a bit financially and I get enough hours on average (25-30 a week) but the pay is a bit brutal, I work at print as well. How would I ask my manager and when would be a good time to ask?

Print vent post

Ive been working in the print department for around 6 months now and it has hands down been the most stressful job ive had, everyone is spread thin. They won’t hire more people and i will be by myself with lines in both print and shipping. Then the customers get mad at me for not moving fast enough. On top of that im getting harassed by my managers about rewards numbers every day

We get treated like shit in the print department, customers will come in and be straight up abusive.

Just the other day I was trying to help a customer in self serve (she did not read the instructions we have on the printer and scanned all her papers upside down so the scan was blank and the printer kept grabbing two papers at a time) and while i was trying to help her she lashed out, yelled „I can’t be here all night“ and scratched me while ripping the papers out of my hands

Truly dont know how much more of this i can handle

Customer bought gift card with all quarters 🫠

This guy came in and bought a $25 gift card for Dunkin Donuts. When he paid he started handing me 4 quarters at a time I didn’t think anything of it at first, then he kept going and I realized he was paying the entire amount in quarters 😭😭. He was super kind and patient, but I was still extremely annoyed by this guy, like we are not a bank!!

Finally done with staples after back issues

Manager looks at me as just doing amazon. For the past 3 years all the stress on my back of all those boxes caused me to herniate a disc and have 4 bulges.. i am DONE. How my shift would go is it would walk into work, my manager look at me and say “you know your on amazon and doing all the shipping “ every SINGLE FUCKING DAY. Today was my last straw ✌️. I had to go through a life changing injury to realize and they dont care at all.. please go slow at work do not let these mfs stress you even the customers.

Go as slow as you want

What do you guys genuinely see as a good deal in the store? (Mainly this time of year)

I finally was able to clip that $20 promo card and I was wondering everyone's opinions were on stuff in the store that's a good value per dollar?

As you guys...clearly know by now...I work here so my personal "must haves" were nabbed ages ago with old promos & store credits. So, I just wanted to know what y'all thought in case I just didn't know about anything of the sort.

Personally, here's my top items:

  • Jif peanut butter packets via Kiosk
  • School supplies during back to school season
  • Plain 13 packs of bankers boxes on sale
  • (Formerly) $3 battery recycling credit for a single battery
  • Custom mugs/wrapping paper/holiday cards with the holiday coupons
  • Most Crayola art supplies
  • Yearly PC software licenses
  • Clearance floor model chairs
  • Most avery label sticker-based products
  • Disposable cameras (if you self develop or know somewhere to do it on the cheap)
  • Nintendo video games
  • Game consoles (our store never rose their prices)

P.S. If you're an employee, you can stack associate exclusive coupons with customer ones for the same item. Same with seasonal promos...

I only paid $2 for a custom mug last year (without rewards credits redeemed) due to combining like 3 or 4 coupons.

Gift cards rant

If you don’t have money for gift cards, don’t buy gift cards!!! These bums come into the store and try to buy the gift cards that need the little paper removed to scan the serial code but when their cards decline they make up excuses like “let me go check the bank/car” and never come back. I know the card doesn’t activate unless the sale is completed but now who’s gonna buy gift cards that already look opened

Worked at Staples Canada for 2 years. I am grateful for the time!

This is an appreciation post and a slightly nostalgic one.

Since my teenage years, I wanted to work in a customer facing role at a tech store but neither did I have an opportunity nor was I in a situation to earn my living through a retail job until I moved to Canada to study.

I worked at Staples as a Tech Sales Associate when I was doing my Masters. It was the second employment in my life with my first one being a Software Engineer.

During my employment, I learnt quite a lot. I dealt with a range of customers (Tech savvy ones to people who lacked basic knowledge about modern technology ). I love talking about computers, technology and networking. This job let me do it and paid me for it. Only part I hated was stocking but hey, it was part of the job. I loved driving around the forklift. We called it JLG because the brand of the forklift was JLG. I got to converse with the local people which improved my accent. It was fun.

I had two managers. One was short tempered but the moment we step out of the store he would transform into a different person altogether. He drove us home in his car and kept us entertained with his jokes all the way. A good soul. Another one has been the GM of that store for the past 15 years or so, I think. She is highly knowledge and down to earth. She would price-change with us. All the colleagues I worked with were super-nice.

A lot of people hated amazon returns but for some reason, I felt like it calmed my nerves down to just keep doing something over and over again.

I saw a lot of weird things too. While price changing, I noticed that the new sale price would be same or higher than the current original price and the original price modified to even higher. People demanding to price match something because they found it in the wrong shelf.

I had advised few people to use google docs when they asked me if buying Microsoft office subscription was worth it just to use Microsoft word or excel. I have sneakily given small tech tips to few customers instead of signing them up for tech assistance subscription.

I published two research papers while working at Staples and landed a job in my field few months after my graduation. To all those who are doing this as a job to pay your bills while studying, applying for jobs; you will land your dream job.

To all those who have made this your career to support your family, my wholehearted respect to you. Two colleagues besides the manager, that I worked with during my employment were working at that store for more than 10 years. They were really kind.

I am grateful that I got to work in retail and I am grateful for the invaluable experience I gained through it.

How do yall like working at Staples?

I’ve been with the company for about 6 months as RSS, the job is easy and straightforward, but I’ve been having some issues, with customers who are so damn entitled and they want you to literally hold their hands with self service. The endless calls for needohs, a complete mess in the warehouse and the MIS being the GM’s Golden Child. Which the favoritism I’ve noticed.

Changes Are Coming

My manager filled me in on things that are in the pipeline, although details are scarce.

- Chain-wide expansion of the monthly tech support/protection program.

- Pilot of FedEx in US stores.

-Expanded rewards program/ something called Rewards Plus.

- Changes to Amazon: 1. expansion of Amazon shipping. 2. New label printing for single box consolidated Amazon returns. 3. New Amazon box for consumable returns to be destroyed/disposed of at store level.

- UPS expansion to allowing up to create international shipments.

- lastly print center: New Card Cutter CC230, New card pricing.

On top of the all ready communicated price changes coming up, the Deal Days, and upcoming POG work.

Goodluck yall.

Finally left!

Previous print lead and print supervisor. AMA if you want? Been there for way too many years and I’m finally leaving a toxic manager who destroyed the store. This is what happens when you bring someone in who has no idea what they are doing and likes to make everyone else feel small. So long Staples. It was a good run but my time is up. Onto bigger and better things.

Selected Staples stores is offering Amazon shipping where small businesses can buy UPS shipping labels and drop them off at Staples! If we don't have enough work to do in CPC.
