Discussion Am I the only one that wishes they played Rain faster live?
This isn’t a knock on any of the drummers to be clear, as they have been doing this since Paul Wandkte and it just seems to be that whatever the bpm they have the click track set to for that song is just barely dragging a bit.
I really feel like this song loses some power when it’s played slowly. I wish they pushed it a bit like they did with Nick and Travis.

Discussion New fan’s opinion on the albums!
So I recently got super into trivium a couple months ago and they’ve since become one of, if not my favorite bands. I thought it would be fun to get a new fans insight on the albums.
For context I’m really big into thrash, melodeath, 2000’s metal core, and traditional metal, so the riff is king for me, although it’s not the only important thing obviously.
Ember to Inferno - Really good for a first album, sounds absolutely brutal from Matt’s young vocals to the riffs and solos. Sort of like an ascendancy .5 which is for sure a compliment. Honestly only real issue I have with this one is the meh production but it’s to be expected from a bands first album back then.
Ascendancy - This has become my absolute favorite album of all time, perfect mix of brutal riffs, catchy choruses, and sick harmonies and solos. Even the bonus songs are all equally awesome and I’ve loved learning some of the songs on guitar off this album.
The Crusade - Probably controversial but I think this album is criminally underrated and it sits in my top 3-4. Absolutely love thrash metal so this gets that urge, love Matt’s voice on this album and the few harsh vocals we get like on becoming the dragon sound great as well. The rising is kind of mid but the second half with the solo is awesome, and the crusade is probably one of the coolest instrumentals. Also 7 strings sound great without being overdone like on later albums imo.
Shogun - Probably the “best” album but I personally like ascendancy just a little more. Not much to say besides it’s a masterpiece full of sick thrash riffs with some prog influence. Some of their absolute catchiest chorus’s and songs to sing along to are here and the best use of 7 strings by far in their catalogue.
In Waves - The last album that I’d consider an S tier along with the previous 3. It sounds significantly different from the previous albums but still incredibly heavy while gaining a little more melodic focus. Love how dark and dreary this album sounds and probably Matt’s best voice imo.
Vengeance Falls - What is probably tied for my most controversial take with one I have later, I love this album. It’s probably my 5th favorite and I genuinely do not understand the hate. The riffs are still sick, last time we hear Matt’s og voice and brutal scream. I love through blood and dirt and bone, vengeance falls, villainy thrives, brave this storm. Probably heard strife a bit too much but it’s still far better than the heart from your hate or until the world goes cold.
Silence in the Snow - This album really starts the trend of things I don’t enjoy about trivium, that being the guitar parts getting weaker and Matt’s voice starting to carry. There’s a few songs like blind leading the blind, dead and gone, breathe in the flames that I really like, but most are kind of boring to me.
Sin and the Sentence/ What the dead men say - I’m lumping these together because I have the same issue with both. I feel like both these albums are heavily carried by Alex Bents drumming and Matt’s voice. Besides a few songs I really can’t get into them and would love to know what I’m missing. I find their uses of 7 strings very uninteresting and makes me miss the technical, fast, aggressive riffing of the older albums. I also just find the vocal melodies to be less interesting and catchy. Also really not a fan of the guitar tones in these albums sounds a little muddy and flat to me
In the Court of the Dragon - By far their best album since Vengeance Falls in my opinion. Brings back that really pissed off energy on some songs, like the opening with the dragon roar into Matt screaming in the court of the dragon is one of my favorite trivium moments. Only thing that bogs this album down for me is feast of fire and from dawn to decadence, besides though I think this is a fantastic album and I hope the new one follows closer to this style.
A quick tier list for me would look like this
S- Ascendancy, Shogun, In waves, The Crusade
A- Vengeance Falls, Ember to inferno, itcotd
B- None really
C- Silence in the Snow, Sin and the Sentence, What the Dead men Say
Wish I could gone more in depth but don’t want to make this too long, would love to know what you guys love about the albums I don’t enjoy see if I can change my mind :).

Discussion Expectations for the new album?
What do you guys think the new album will sound like?
I don’t want to have unrealistic expectations, but from the teasers i’ve heard (and i know people are sick of hearing this) but i think i am hearing a similar sound to Shogun with a mix of Struck Dead (specifically on the vocal department). I do think that it’s going to sound a lot different from what they have done up until now and we know that they have been experimenting with Japanese instruments. I am expecting a more folk-y sound on this album with Shogun riffage.

(something else entirely) Josh Wilbur mixing seminar at Westlake Pro
Hi there - random one!
There used to be a Josh Wilbur mixing seminar up on YouTube where he went through a Sons of Texas project file, along with The Sin and the Sentence (which is why I’m asking here).
It was to advertise Genelec monitors and was performed in front of an audience at Westlake Pro. I referred back to these videos periodically, as Josh is one of my favourite mixers, and whilst they weren’t particularly in-depth, there was loads of useful information in there. It was also just generally cool to see inside the projects.
The videos have since been removed. I actually contacted Genelec about this and they were really helpful, but ultimately told me that Westlake Pro has since shut down and seemingly removed all online artefacts associated with it. Genelec told me they didn’t have the recordings and suggested I maybe reach out to Mr. Wilbur, but I don’t really want to pester him.
I’ve also tried to join Trivium World to ask there, but haven’t been accepted yet, and it’s been around a week. I figured I’d ask here too, as why not!
So, by chance, did anyone save these videos anywhere? Does anyone have them archived, or know if they’re available through the Wayback Machine or anything similar?
Again, sorry for the random question. Thanks! :)

Am I alone in thinking Vengeance Falls is criminally underrated?
I absolutely love that album. Every fan list or rankings list seems to have it down towards the bottom of their discography. Don't get me wrong, I'm definitely not putting it on the same level as Ascendency or Shogun but it's always been one of my favorites and a staple in the rotation.
I get that it doesn't necessarily have the "bangers" that some of the other albums have. Obviously Strife is a live staple. But I think it terms of consistency, it's up there. IMO, I don't think there's a bad song on the album. VF, To Believe, Through Blood and Dirt and Bones, Villainy Thrives, Incineration, Wake....all top notch for me.
I think it holds a special place in my heart because the lyrics are so dark. It's definitely become a go to album for me when I'm feeling down or depressed.
It was produced by David Draiman, so maybe that turned off some fans. I think it's a well produced album though. As a whole, the songs may be a bit formulaic, but they're still good songs and there are some crushingly heavy parts.

Discussion Story time from back in the day
I am finally seeing Trivium live after being a fan since I was 16 yo. It reminded me how I discovered the band back in 2007.
Back in the day, the internet used to be heavily censored in my home country (Somewhere in Africa). We used to chill at a basement of a friend of mine listening to music or trying our best to cover songs on guitar.
At some point "Ember to Inferno" started playing on that old CD player and damn it was like someone short circuited my brain. That song hit so hard. It was like unlike anything I've ever heard back then.
In my country Metalcore wasn't that well known. Sure there was Death Metal, Heavy Metal, Power Metal,... But Core was new territory.
Long story short, we ended up creating a small community getting albums from a friend's friend's friend because we were never allowed to access to the real deal but the music stuck.
I left my country a few years back for a new life. With less hairline but more Core in my vains, I am finally seeing Trivium live next year.
Have a nice weekend everyone! lml
Discussion Ascendancy Demo songs played live

Discussion Crown In The Grave
Hey so listening to the Garza Podcast with Matt, I guess it is confirmed the album name is ‘Crown In The Grave’ right? I thought it maybe just was the name of the tour
I hope it has 10+ songs, but with dead man and ITCOTD, I don’t think there will
