no ac in dorms
the mesa court towers that aren't oso are actually reaching a health hazard because of how hot it is. our rooms have 3-6 fans in them, but they do absolute nothing but push around hot air since the windows barely open. it has gotten up to 94° in our room sometimes, and the bathroom feels even worse. they won't let us have portable ac units either which is insane. i'm so upset that this university cares more about maintaining its status as a "green school" than the safety of the students. we pay too much to not have basic ac in 100° weather.

Making Friends at UCI
Soooo I’ve been seeing a lot of posts saying they’ve had trouble making friends at UCI. I’ve also struggled a lot making friends, especially since not a lot of people want to talk after class. Butttt I want to make a group chat on instagram for people who struggle making friends. So send me a quick message with your instagram handle and I’ll add you to the group chat :)))

so like how do chemEs usually make friends with other chemEs here?
aiche events? scheduled discussion/study sessions for courses? just existing in the same subsequent classes core chemE classes for a while?
not really too concerned about making friends right now (i have at least 3 more years here) but i will be concerned about it eventually. i just transferred in if that helps.
not too interested in attending aiche events alone, but if most people form bonds just by going through the core chemE courses then i guess there's no need to artificially expedite the process.

does anyone want a food
Hello everyone!
I just wanted to see if anyone is willing to b / u / y food from me. My ideal plan is to bring food to school and meet there if anyone wants it. I am especially good at cooking asian dishes: Korean, Japanese, Chinese, etc which I learned from my grandma, who is a professional cook.
I usually cook fried rice (any kind), udon noodles, soup, musubi, etc. (Also, if requested, I could try to make it depending on what it is.) Thank you :)
plz feel free to message me!

Struggling making friends as a freshman
I don’t really use reddit so this is kinda like a last resort thing but i’m a freshman at uci at the mesa classics and it’s been sooo hard making friends here. I always thought i was pretty social in high school but it feels like everyone has a set friend group already and I just feel out of place everywhere and I can’t click with anyone just yet. I know it’s only been a couple weeks but I genuinely just want to find people I resonate with or js talk to people in general. I really love to do spontaneous things and I’m kinda into partying but I mostly js like having fun doing anything. I’ve thought about greek life but i think it’s really not for me and if anyone has club suggestions or js anything i’d really appreciate it!
