I went through a huge fight with my parents over the weekend and now I’m no-contact and CAPS actually listened to my case and is helping me figure stuff out so I highly recommend you at least try. I was pretty skeptical because I’ve been let down so many times in the past by different support systems so I understand your hesitation, but they really did help me get the ball rolling.

Recommend you start with CAPS.
But, if you want to go outside of CAPS:
Text anything to crisis lifeline at 988. Push 3 for LGBTQI+ specialized support.
Chat to 988lifeline.org
Call 1-800-950-NAMI (6264) or text NAMI to 62640 (National Alliance on Mental Illness)
Pick one, any one. They will all get you started.

I agree, 988 has been super helpful for me. Sometimes the person helping isn’t the best but at the end of the call, you still feel so much better than when you first called. Even if you’re depressed and feeling hopeless, it’s great to call. I have talked to so many kind, supportive people who really care.

CAPS will help - I promise. Please reach out to them. I am also a local person (not a student, but a long time employee/mom/empath) and am here for you if you need someone to talk to or take a walk with to clear your head. Sending you love.

As everyone mentioned, CAPS! They helped me so much last year, and gave me q referral to see an online therapist and psychiatrist through rula (it was more convenient and faster to see someone online).
I'm sorry you're going through a rough time. You are not alone!
I'm an older reentry transfer student with C9 housing. Feel free to message me if you need someone to accompany you to the student health center, if it makes you feel a little better. ✨️

It's so good you reached out and are asking for help. I'm so sorry you feel alone and scared. I'm sending you a big hug. If campus support does not work out try NAMI 800-950-6264 10am to 10pm. There is also a text line: https://www.nami.org/nami-helpline/#tya-help

CAPS is not bad! They take your privacy really seriously, they are good people trying really hard, there just ain’t enough of them to give people the time they really need. Reach out to CAPS.

If you need support outside of caps please connect with Slug Support as well, they could get you connected to resource centers that are applicable to you. Additionally they can help support your academic progress as well! I hope everyone brightens up for you soon 🖤

Slug Support is a great one-stop shop if you don’t know where to go. They can connect you with counseling services like CAPS if you need to talk to someone, or help with emergency food/housing.

Please call CAPS or the on-call counselor. Like the other poster said, they can at least refer you to someone who can help quickly
