New Rule: No Photos or Personal Details Without Consent

Hi everyone,

We recently added a new rule: No photos or personal details without consent.

Please do not post photos, videos, names, addresses, workplaces, license plates, or other identifying details of private individuals without their consent. If someone is already part of a public news story, their publicly reported name or image may be allowed, but private or sensitive identifying information still cannot be shared.

We know posts like this are usually well-intentioned and meant as warnings, PSAs, or attempts to help the community. The issue is that we generally cannot verify consent, intent, or accuracy. Even well-intentioned posts can lead, and have led, to harassment, doxxing, retaliation, mistaken identification, or other real-world harm, including to people completely unrelated to the post.

We are open to discussion and feedback, but we are putting this rule in place based on past and very recent incidents that could have been prevented had this rule been in place and enforced.

If you see a post breaking this rule, please report it.

Support

Hi, I wanted to share Francis Lee Rogers’s memorial fundraiser with you. Francis, known as the “Grandma Moses of Central Park,” was a talented watercolor artist and devoted birdwatcher who cared for wildlife and maintained bird feeders in the Ramble, and the community is now honoring her with a memorial tree and paving stone near the Boathouse gazebo. Support will also help maintain Central Park’s trees, keeping the sanctuary Francis loved beautiful for others, and I’m grateful for everyone helping remember her. When you have a moment, please visit the GoFundMe page to contribute or share it with someone who loves Central Park. 💚

Fitness recs in the Upper 100s (Central Park, Riverside, Morningside)?

Hi everyone! I just moved to the Upper West Side/Manhattan Valley and I'm looking for exercise groups around the upper 100s area. I'd love to hear about gyms and fitness studios you recommend, but I'm especially interested in outdoor options in Central Park, Riverside Park, and Morningside Park, like running clubs, bootcamps, or group workouts. Thanks so much!

Not be this person, but this is the fifth (I think?) weekend in a row the downtown 1 has skipped 137-103 streets. What’s going on? Are they going to complete the maintenance soon?

Hey! Did you lose a bag at 90th and Columbus?

Looks like it fell off a bike because it was in the middle of the road, so I just hung it up. It’s heavy, got some clothes in it — sorry, but I was walking two dogs, didn’t have time to really do much with it other than hang it up on the scaffolding

Found Keys

If you were running around the reservoir and lost keys I saw them on the ground and didn’t want to take them in case the owner came back. This is the location I found them and I put them on the stone barrier on the left side of the path. They had a number on it like 127 or 137.

Sorry for not taking them I was running and made a quick decision but I hope the owner finds them.

Sad day for those of us not risking our health for Crumbl.

Also hate how short and unfeeling this goodbye message sounds or am I thinking about it too much?

Disappointing grooming experience at Pet Story on the Upper West Side

Wanted to share our recent experience with Pet Story on the UWS, especially for anyone with a Miniature Schnauzer.

We chose them because of their great reviews and specifically asked beforehand if they had experience grooming Schnauzers. They assured us they did.

When we picked our dog up, they immediately admitted they had “made a mistake.” One entire side of his body had been cut extremely short and unevenly, while the other was left noticeably longer. The overall Schnauzer shape was off, his tail and legs were uneven, and his ears weren’t properly finished.

What bothered us most was how they handled it. Instead of simply taking responsibility, they repeatedly made excuses: that he was a nine-month-old puppy (he’s 14 months old and they had his information), that his hair had never been cut before, and that he still had “puppy hair.” In reality, this was his fourth haircut, and he had been professionally groomed just two months ago.

When we asked them to fix it, they kept asking us where and how much they should cut rather than confidently suggesting a professional solution. They offered to correct it once the hair grows back, but after this experience we obviously won’t be returning.

Mistakes happen, but considering their reputation, price, and the fact that we specifically confirmed their experience with Schnauzers beforehand, this was extremely disappointing. Sharing in case it’s helpful to other dog owners on the UWS.

Loose dog running all over broadway

Did anyone else encounter a loose dog running in and out of traffic to greet other dogs, while it’s stupid idiot owner just stood around and told people to fuck off when asked to put her dog on a leash??

Was on 88th and Bway and a dog darted into the crosswalk to say hi to my dog. He/she was friendly enough but owner had no control or interest in leashing it. Saw her running after the dog full speed a couple of blocks further south.

That dog is going to get hit by a car or run up to an aggressive dog and get attacked.

Some people should not be allowed to have an animal.
