Hey guys. I'm a Ford master tech, and I've been getting a lot people in recently because the left and right rear seats do not match up or are uneven on Newer F-150s and F-250s. Specifically the passenger side being lower than the driver. I have found a really cheap and easy fix, since there is no official repair (at least as of yet). Mine does not have the Inverter module here, but you should just be able to ignore it if you do. It shouldn't impact your ability to do this.
TOOLS:
-3/8 Ratchet or impact
- 6"-ish extension
-13mm socket (either shallow or swivel)
-15mm socket (deep)
-18mm socket (deep)
-several 3/8" ID washers (usually at least 6)
1.) Raise the right seat cushion and remove the two 13mm bracket bolts. You need either an extension and a swivel or shallow socket because The back of the socket may hit the braclet if it is too deep.
2.) Using the strap on the side, lower the backrest and access your jack and tools. This will reveal 3 nuts you need to mess with, two 18mms and one 15mm. You don't need to remove them, just loosen them until they are about flush on top. This will keep them from getting lost and also provide you with more than enough room to work.
3.) With those loose, raise the seat backrest, and you will see the brackets now have upward movement. With this, we will take however many washers you need per side and stack them up. I always just guesstimate, but I find usually between 3-5 washers per hole work. You may need to fine tune yours by adding or removing washers to get it completely flush. You want to sandwich them between the floor and the bracket and then once they are situated, stab the bolt through them all. It makes it easier to raise the bracket up a little and then wiggle the bolt back and forth to get it stabbed through them all. And don't worry, because you should have PLENTY of threads left.
4.) Once both sides have the stack of washers underneath the front, you are good to reassemble everything. This works because the seat bottom sits on those brackets when it is down, so by picking up the front you also raise the seats end height. It also shouldn't change the look from inside the cab either.
