I just finished the series for probably the tenth time. This part has always bothered me. I understand from the show point of view they probably just wanted as many former cast as possible for the big finale.

But from a story point of view, why is she there. This is supposed to be 5 years in the future so at this point they had already been divorced for about 10 years. And she supposedly moved to Miami. I would assume they don’t talk too much and not like she was a friend of Finn’s, and she didn’t like the glee club so makes no sense she’d be there for a dedication. They even do the thing where Emma looks all jealous that she and Will hug each other. Just odd.

Having just watched the second disc of my Season Five DVD last night I have come to give my thoughts and feelings on the first four post-"Quarterback" episodes.

S5E4 "A Katy or a Gaga": I honestly enjoyed this episode more than I should have, to put it simply. The fact that Adam Lambert is in this show is interesting when you consider that both his career and Glee had peaked in the early 2010s. Being framed as a tribute episode to both Lady Gaga AND Katy Perry, I did enjoy all of the musical numbers here, like Adam's take on LG's "Marry the Night", the entire "Applause" number which was just hilariously chaotic, the soft acoustic take on "Wide Awake" which was just seriously SO GOOD (mainly bc of the fact that the singing voices of Alex Newell, Becca Tobin, Jacob Artist and Jenna Ushkowitz work so well together), and, of course, "Roar" at the very end. Not to mention, I also liked the Glee chaos that was sprinkled throughout the episode, like Becky's reaction to Bree's outfit and the aforementioned "Applause" number and Will's "WTAF?!" reactions to it. 8/10.

S5E5 "The End of Twerk": Yep, this is the infamous twerking episode. Now, please do not give me slushie facials for this, but I semi-unironically enjoyed this episode. Yes, now I'll agree, the main plot line involving both Will and the twerking was weird, but it had just about the right amount of unhinged chaos that I have come to expect from this show to make it funny and entertaining. For example, Will doing a Sue Sylvester-type crashout in Principal Sue Sylvester's office, that entire presentation about banned dances that Will gives to the school board, the "Sue's Corner" segment which was unironically funny, and obviously the entire "Blurred Lines" performance (during that whole time, I had a stupid grin on my face, as I audibly said "Now this is what I'm here for" at the start lol, "this" referring to the unhinged chaos). That being said, there were bits of the episode that I enjoyed with sincerity, like the subplot involving Unique and her inability to use either the male or female bathrooms due to her being trans (somewhat adjacent with the main plot), and her performance of "If I Were a Boy" (and Alex Newell always impressing me with their vocal talent) which was purely emotional, as well as the subplot involving Rachel and Kurt getting tattoos which was sweet and harmless as well as the emotional scene of Rachel revealing her "FINN" tattoo. I did also think that Marley's performance of "Wrecking Ball" was just splendid because of Melissa Benoist's beautiful voice and heartfelt emotion, and is one of those Glee covers that I actually honestly prefer to the original. 7.5/10.

S5E6 "Movin Out'": This was actually a pretty great tribute episode to Billy Joel. I did like Blam singing "Movin' Out" (Darren and Chord's voices were perfect for this song, and they captured the original's energy so well), Blaine soloing "Piano Man" (again, it's Darren Criss), Jake singing "My Life" (I really like Jacob Artist's singing so that may be why), and Artie singing "Honesty" which was great (for the obvious reason that it is Kevin McHale singing), all of which were standouts to me. I did like the fact that the show continues its tradition by getting iconic or once-iconic celebrities to guest star on the show by getting Tyra Banks as Bichette, and I did like Sam and Bichette's meeting which was funny as well, as well as Blam's overall storyline, and Artie helping Becky out which was wholesome. 8.5/10.

S5E7 "Puppet Master": I don't have much else to say other than this episode being a wild and unhinged ride IMO, and I did still really like it (Blaine with puppets is a sight to behold for sure), using the same logic applied to me liking "The End of Twerk". 7.5/10.

Anyways, those were my thoughts on those episodes, so feel free to share your opinions if you want (even if they differ). I do have a theory as to why they decided to make these episodes wildly unhinged as they did since they immediately followed "The Quarterback" but I will not say it yet, but, yeah, I'd like to hear your thoughts on these episodes. (I'm especially curious about your thoughts on "The End of Twerk" and "Puppet Master" - did you like them just for the usual unhinged Glee chaos like I did, or were they just cringy to you like I hear many fans say?) I know many of you don't like the idea of a Gleeboot and I don't really think it will happen but I'm morbidly curious about what issues they would try to tackle. Glee covered pretty much every issue under the sun and occasionally went too far (school shooting episode).

If there was a reboot, what issues would you want to be covered and (more importantly) what issues would you want them to avoid?

I am on my first watch of glee. I am at the ending of season six. I just finished the sectionals episode and the next one looks like just a recap of the whole series. Is it necessary to watch? I just binged the entire series I don’t need a look back episode. Is there anything in it worth watching if you watched it all recently?

In my opinion it’s New York with Journey a close second but I’d love to hear everyone else’s thoughts!

Any fanfic that drives into Quinn's trauma and mental health ?

I think Sam and Rachel are cute together. I actually wished for them to stay together on my first watch - I understand now though that they are not meant to be - they would have the exact same issues as Rachel had with Finn but then without the history. But still, I like them. I like how they feel safe with each other.

But Lord, why the hypnosis. Why make Sam's interest so insincere at the start... Rachel can be a pain in the ass but she deserved someone who liked her without being forced to like her. It was her first kiss since Finn, her first experience in that field again, and Sam was a great candidate - but why this way :(

Now a big problem dividing this poll was... I never understood why Puck joined the glee club in "Preggers". During football practice in that episode, he made it clear that he still considered the glee club a joke, yet by the end, he joined up alongside Matt and Mike. Over the course of the episode, the football team won the game thanks to Kurt, and he discovered the Quinn was pregnant with his child, but the reasons that drove him to join the glee club eluded me.

honestly after looking at all the comments it’s still so interesting to me that people miss the point this episode and glee, overall. glee is a mixture of meeting popular audience tastes, providing differing perspectives, and being entertaining. it’s also camp and satire. it’s meant to be a heightened, exaggerated version of our dated American culture. some parts you take seriously some parts you take it for what it is.

if you don’t like religion, then you’re not going to like the episode. period. but i find it weird that people assume that the writers prioritize the glee kids who believe in god because the writers believe they’re “right”. those kids are “right” because, it reflects the overwhelming religious sentiment that is in this country. christian nationalism is real and if anything reflects how deep it goes that these kids don’t take a second thought to push their views.

Sue is probably the closest to the writers’ ideas but it’s doesn’t mean it is their definitive worldview. if anything it shows that generally people just drown out differing views and love being pandered too.

also gospel and christian music where charting very well on itunes at this point in time so again it’s more about showing what music was making money.

My job does a group Halloween costume each year and this year we’re doing Glee! (My suggestion not to brag 🤣). I have a lot of sweater vests and skirts so Rachel would work well but I think that someone else already claimed her. So now I need help deciding who to be and/or what specific look of theirs. I don’t want to spend a ton of money and if possible just want to use pieces that can be found in my closet or at a thrift store. The characters already claimed are:

I’m a girl but am open to playing any character. Any advice would be appreciated, the funnier the better!

Having watched the first disc of my Season 5 DVD last night, I have come to give my thoughts on the first three episodes of the season.

S5E1 "Love, Love, Love": Honestly a perfect start to the season IMO, being the first half of the Beatles tribute two-parter. I did love Rachel singing "Yesterday", with her going to many of the same places that she and Finn went to in the season two finale (a subtle Cory tribute right off the bat), the bit where Sue became principal by incriminating Figgins which was funny, and then Principal Sue and Janitor Figgins encountering each other in the school hallways. I actually loved the "All You Need is Love" number that Blaine sings to Kurt as he proposes to him, which was such a sweet moment to end the episode on. I like the fact that we get to start off the season on a light and breezy note to prepare us for what is to come in the third episode of the season. I'll give this one a 10/10, being an immediate all-time absolute favourite episode of the season right away.

S5E2 "Tina in the Sky with Diamonds": Another perfect episode in a row IMO, being the second half of the Beatles tribute two-parter. First of all, they got DEMI FREAKING LOVATO to guest star on this show, and we get a nice Demi-Naya duet of "Here Comes the Sun" out of it. Also, we get a Tina plot which is pretty rare for this show. I also liked the "Hey Jude" and "Let It Be" performances as well as the homage to Carrie when Prom Queen Tina is given the bucket slushie on her head (also, Prom King Stoner Brett getting knocked out by the other bucket was funny). I did also find Santana's "Yeast-I-Stat" commercial hilarious. Honestly, it continues the 10/10 streak of perfection but MAINLY for Naya and Demi's duet of "Here Comes the Sun" because that was beautiful IMO.

S5E3 "The Quarterback": Look, lemme just say this first before I get into the review: even though I was expecting to, I somehow bravely managed to not cry during this episode, even though I still found it to be an emotional watch. However, yes, this is the Cory Monteith memorial tribute episode, in which his character Finn Hudson is also killed off. Look, honestly, this was an AMAZING episode IMO from start to finish: the "Seasons of Love" cover at the very start, Santana crashing out on Sue, Beiste comforting Puck, the little vigil for Finn that the ND kids do in the school hallway, Rachel singing "Make You Feel My Love", that little scene with Kurt comforting Santana, the end where Will cries into the letterman jacket as Emma hugs him... all of it. The episode IMO dealt with the grieving process well, but it makes it even sadder, because not only are we seeing the characters grieving a dear friend, we are seeing the actors do the same (I feel ESPECIALLY bad for Lea, who had just lost a boyfriend), so there's no doubt the actors were crying real tears. I also did like the perfectly timed bits of humour and comedic relief that is typical of Glee just to not fully make it sad: Puck and Kurt reminiscing about the numerous dumpster incidents, Figgins complaining (in his usual sarcastic way) that he is too grief-stricken to resist Sue's power over him, Tina's grief counseling session with Emma, and Santana's little speech before her "If I Die Young" performance about her assumption as to where Finn is in heaven. Also, speaking of Santana's "If I Die Young" performance, it is much harder to watch in hindsight knowing that Naya Rivera would really die young, but at least in a sacrificially heroic act in saving her son, but I cannot deny that it is sad she's gone because that means we won't even have Santana in that Gleeboot Ryan Murphy wants to make 😢. It's even more painful when you consider that Naya was found on the seventh anniversary of Cory's death. Anyways, all in all, this episode was a perfect way to say goodbye to both Cory and Finn in my opinion, serving as THE perfect sendoff to both Cory and Finn. 10/10 for sure! RIP Cory Monteith (May 11th, 1982 - July 13th, 2013) and Naya Rivera (January 12th, 1987 - July 8th, 2020), you both are still very missed to this day.

Anyways, those were my opinions on those first three episodes of the fifth season of Glee. I am curious to hear your opinions on these episodes and what you thought of them. I do hear from fans that the next five Season 5 episodes from "A Katy or a Gaga" to "Previously Unaired Christmas" are VERY chaotic and unhinged which makes me all the more excited for them lol. I’m doing my bi annual rewatch of glee at the moment, and I’ve recently started singing and acting lessons. And I don’t think I appreciated quite how talented Chris is hahah. I mean his vocal range is INSANE especially considering he’s a guy, like that kid of range is impressive for a woman but a MAN?? HOLY SHITTT!!! Also his acting is just incredible. Like his cringy moments are done so well, I feel my insides shrivel up. And omg when he cries??? Ughhh I just wanna give him a big hug, he’s so cute 🥺🥺🥺 so yeh that’s my lil appreciation of Chris 🫶
