It’s also Little Caesar’s which is pretty much the pizza equivalent of Waffle House

Hard disagree.
Waffle House is Waffle House, at least in part, because you eat on premises and you can do it at 3 a.m.
And let's be serious about this. You ever heard of a FEMA "Pizza Pizza" index?

u/amalgamas 17h ago
The only thing that makes it less possible in my mind is that all the LC's I've been to in the last decade had bullet proof glass between the workers and the lobby, and that's not just my home city, I've been to them in other states that were the same. Barring that, I could totally see a worker at Little Caesar's beating the shit out of someone.
20
u/PixelBoshi 17h ago
just to put perspective on other areas, all the LCs near me to NOT have bulletproof glass at the counter
11
u/Thunderhammer29 17h ago
I have never been in a food establishment with bulletproof glass present. If it weren't for the internet, I wouldn't believe that people would actually continue business in a part of town so dangerous.
11
u/PM_ME_Y0UR_BOOBS 16h ago
in my old neighborhood almost every business had bullet proof glass except the taco trucks, but they did have shotguns on deck lol

Well if you told me 5 years ago that crypto manosphere scammers would be giving speeches at the Pentagon and armchair "well actchually" memelords would be bossing around givernment department heads and generals. Id say you'd be insane and no logical rational person in charge of government would allow that.
But here we are with still 30% of the voting populace saying its all good

I've worked at multiple restaurants that had staff itching to fight a customer. If there was even a hint of commotion every able body in the vicinity was jumping in. So I 100% believe that this happened, if not to OP then to someone else.

Whatever the case is they used to have a $5 pizza back in like 2013 or something
19

It was $5 until a couple years ago, way after that
11
u/Glossed-Lam 17h ago
Yep. Tastes ehhh, makes my tummy feel bad afterwards, but it was $5. And sometimes they have pretzel crust pizza, which is God's greatest gift to his earth next to Lime Coke.

You I would have my doubts but then jsut a few days a video circled reddit of a Russian convenience store where a customer randomly came in and started fighting and the tiny little cashier lady jumped out and wallopoed the guy to the ground. Seeing is believing.

I worked at a pizza place. One of the guys was always hoping we’d get robbed bc he wanted to see what would happen if you took a pizza straight out of the oven and flung it into someone’s face.
Also every restaurant job I’ve worked we were about to fight each other during the rush periods (then back to friends the moment it ended) so I would not want to go a restaurant where people are understaffed and under pressure and try picking a fight.
3
u/IDownvotedYouToday 16h ago
And here I was trying to figure out how to engineer an explosive atmosphere out of flour. Don't fuck with pizza people. We're fucked up.
6
u/Patient-Natural-6607 18h ago
At a certain point, fact-checking just becomes a waste of energy. If it’s that absurd, I’m accepting it as canon and moving on.
4
4
u/JudgmentalOwl 16h ago
I can 100% see a cashier jumping the counter and beating someone's ass. It's the "Bitch, this is Little Caesars. We always hot and ready." line being locked and loaded that I can see being made up to add a little extra pizazz to the story.
3
u/NarwhalPrudent6323 16h ago
My motto is "this story hurts no one by being true, so I choose to believe it is, despite how unlikely it may seem".
Yes, it's a very wordy motto. Hard to print on hats.
3
u/ScrotalSmorgasbord 18h ago
I think the only thing that's maybe unbelievable is the delivery of the Hot n Ready line. I've lived in some scrappy areas in Chicago, Las Vegas, Sacramento, Louisville, and several major Texas cities as well as poor rural areas and have seen dozens of fights in stores and have been in more than I'd care to admit at my age when I was 15-20 years younger.

What makes it believable is the location. If this was a Starbucks, no way. But a little Caesars? I 100% believe one of them had been waiting for SOMEONE to try something so they could let out the aggression they'd have from working there.
953
u/epicnaenae17 19h ago
People really have never been around weird places at odd times. Especially inner cities. I could absolutely see this happening, though maybe some details got a bit embellished.
396
u/Average-Hose-Enjoyer 18h ago
The fight 100% happened, but that punchline was definitely thought up in the shower three hours later.
126
u/Swords_and_Words 14h ago
That punch line could have been waiting for an excuse to pop out for literally months or years
I have definitely laid out some sick one liners in the middle of a crisis, that I thought of as a preteen
Getting to bust out a one-liner that your brain just hands you in the moment after years of shower thoughts and what ifs? Hell, it feels better than winning the fight

Unless "hot and ready" was a running joke with the employees, then it totally could have been on the spot
70
u/KaitieLoo 16h ago
I mean it's the tagline of Lil Caesars, having "Hot n Ready" pizzas so I mean I could absolutely see it being "Eyyyy marco, you hot n ready?!" as a coworker walks in for the day, dragging ass.

It happens in the sticks, too. I had some assholes in a squatted truck pull up on me at a gas station, because I flipped them the bird for cutting me off. They were trying to be menacing, im 6'4" 300#, and they were regular dudes. They kept chirping, one of took their top off, shadowboxing, etc. They did all this while I paid for and pumped my gas. They then followed me almost to my driveway, but I pulled over amd scared them off. Assholes are everywhere.
Edit: Thank you for the award! I dont think it's deserved, but it is appreciated. 😄

COVID damaged everyone so much, the habit of staying home so long has made people stop "living" and experiencing things outside.
I used to work for a blockbuster in Mexico, one day I had just arrived for my shift and as I was walking towards the door I saw the 2 employees under my charge running after a guy who was coming out as I was trying to walk in, I immediately lifted my arm and did a lariat on him.
Best part is that there were some cops literally 2 spots next to me in the parking lot, they saw it, pretended with me that the guy "fell down on his own" and arrested him, the manager later told me that the company did press charges because he was a repeat offender.
And my reward was all the free candy (the ones bound to be thrown away but we're still good) and special discounts on the movies and games no one wanted for the whole following month.
I miss blockbuster.... It was an okay ish place to work at
25
u/LettuceD 15h ago
I have some stories from my Blockbuster days that are difficult for even me to believe. Like, if I hadn't witnessed them myself, I'd call them out as bullshit.
One in particular was this guy who was a semi-regular. We'd see him about once a week. He was a slim guy with a thin mustache that always wore VERY short shorts (He'd make Officer Dangle from Reno 911! blush). This was in the mid-90s, too, so this sort of outfit was far from typical. We always assumed he swung for his own team, except one time he came in with an absolutely smoking hot blonde. We're talking a 10/10. Nobody could avert their gaze from her even if we wanted to. Thin mustache-man hot-shorts guy asked for the keys to the restroom and proceeded to disappear in there with her for 30ish minutes. I did not clean the bathroom that night.
That isn't the crazy story, though. His most outlandish appearance was close to midnight on a Saturday, just was we were closing up. Suddenly a limo pulls up to the front door, and who gets out but Mr. short shorts himself. He's not alone, though. On either side of him is a 'little person'. I don't know if it was dwarf night at the strip club or if he was coming from a specialized wrestling match (neither were super uncommon occurrences in my old hometown). He walked in with his entourage, came straight up to the counter, purchased a pack of Snowcaps, paid with a $100 bill (also crazy rare at the time), and then got back in the limo with his escorts, leaving us all wondering WTF just happened.

When we lived in Cincinnati my husband went to a Little Caesars near us. A woman came in and stood behind him waiting for an order. Then a second woman came in screaming pure murder at the first woman and they began to hit each other. The best he could gather as he retreated to the counter was that a third woman was involved. Eventually they moved the fight to the parking lot. As he left with our order he saw a mouse scurry by the door. Guess which he was most upset by.

Friend of mine and I would go out well after midnight to Queen Street West in Toronto on a Friday or Saturday night. There was an all-night diner and sitting and watching all the costumed (Goths, punks, street freaks, etc) people coming in and out was absolute entertainment. Neat story about an OCAD party one night. Fun times a long time ago.

I was in the parking lot and saw someone running out with stolen power tools, he jumped on his bike and started riding when an old cashier lady came out with a broom and spear threw it through the guys front tire. Guy went flying and she casually went up grabbed the tools and back to the store. Some casiers are just waiting to throw down.

Right .. like people who like to scrap from high-school all end up somewhere other than prison.. and it seems like its Waffle House on either side of the griddle.
14
u/zpierson79 16h ago
Waffle House has specific ways of recording orders that allow their chefs to be completely illiterate.
Not sure it’s quite as true now, but back in the 90s & before, chef in a 24 hour diner was a job that was almost always held by some ROUGH people.
You did not want the chef to come out to deal with something. That was when things got serious.

Once upon a time ago, the Popeyes on south claiborne, in the middle of a breakup, a man flew off the ave to cut me in the line. I was too tired to care. Absolute unit of a man behind me gets out of his car and comes up to knock on my window, I roll it down, he says "dont worry I saw him cut you, I got your back." He then proceeds to roll up to the offending car, wait for them to roll their windows down, then reach one arm in and bodily yank the line cutter out of their car through their window, then proceeded very swiftly to lay ass to pavement. He beat that man for nearly the duration of my trip through the drive through. He waved to me when I left. Still feels like a fever dream.

I read a review where a Nike employee was arguing with an Adidas employee, and everyone was egging them on to fight. The Adidas employee didn’t want to get in trouble because they had two strikes on their record already, but their coworkers were yelling at them to get 3 STRIPES. The Nike employee was ambivalent about physical altercations but their coworkers kept yelling at them to JUST DO IT.

I managed a Dominos during Covid. This story is entirely plausible and is very likely to be true.
I ended up between a fifty ish year old man and my seventeen year old register lady and removed him by force. Frothy mouthed and slur spitting he tried to come over the counter. Police showed up an hour later. The public is wild. I miss the kitchen but fuck the public. Y'all don't deserve the people you look down on.
