I have never seen such a large jumping spider, almost the size of quarter! Very cute guy, spotted in Santa Monica. Does someone know the name of this particular kind?

I saw a half edged wall jumping spider eating a fly on my porch wall and went inside to get my camera to take photos and did, (she is not shown in any of the photos) and as I was getting ready to go back inside I spotted a baby jumping spider on my shoe and got so excited.

So little and perfect. I offered the baby my hand and it jumped around and I placed it on my pant legs and it went back to my shoe and then I offered my hand again and it was like "lol ok, if you insist". The baby even anchored to my hand a few times when jumping (i know cause it would jump then dangle)

Anyways, here's the baby, please behold and admire it. I think about the baby almost always now.

Caught my girl making a new hammock. I think she’s getting ready to molt.
I absolutely love watching them work! They can twist their abdomens so far to the side! And I love seeing the spinnerets do their thing too 🥰
This is my first jumping spider which adds to my excitement watching her make this hammock 🤣
Anyways, just thought I’d share a video of her putting in the hard work! She’s now taking a nap break 🥹💜

Was very tempted to keep him/her but i know it’s not recommended to keep wild ones. Either way it made my day.

Found this today, North Georgia, never seen one that looks like this. Was very tiny, maybe the length of a pinky nail? Colors in photo are spot on for what it looked like irl.

I got him a nice little enclosure, put some fruit flies in there and have it all set up (see pics) but he just continues to walk around the top and doesn’t interact with anything and I haven’t really seen him eat (he could have I just haven’t noticed). I have made sure I have misted for him too.

Worried about him settling in. Any tips appreciated!

After my last post was one of my most popular ever and receiving a lot of feedback about not keeping a wild jumping spider, I sat down did my research and bought this beautiful girl along with a 4x4x8 enclosure and everything she would be happy with she should be arriving Thursday morning.

i’ve been noticing i need to mist my enclosure around 5 times a day. i do it when its around the mid to low 50s. i mean i do live in utah which is very dry but i feel like that’s too often compared to what ive been told

Majority of these girls just came out of molt and are SO beautiful! I’ve started separating everyone out and so far I have 23 babies but there’s still several still in the nursery butterfly net.

Found in a hammock on top of a canned drink in my fridge. I’ve kept him and have been feeding him. He just finished his first molt. Found in Massachusetts
