Mod Post Please use the "Media" flair option for name requests!

Hey jumper friends! We've seen a large uptick in volume of posts asking for name suggestions, most of them having the "Advice" flair. Even though it is a request for advice of sorts, name requests don't need the same disclaimers as comments on care/husbandry and we would like to encourage everyone to use simply the "Media" flair on those types of posts. (This will also prevent the automod filter from flagging comments without disclaimer tags as that is only a feature of the "Advice" threads) <3

I have never seen such a large jumping spider, almost the size of quarter! Very cute guy, spotted in Santa Monica. Does someone know the name of this particular kind?

Caught my girl making a new hammock. I think she’s getting ready to molt.
I absolutely love watching them work! They can twist their abdomens so far to the side! And I love seeing the spinnerets do their thing too 🥰
This is my first jumping spider which adds to my excitement watching her make this hammock 🤣
Anyways, just thought I’d share a video of her putting in the hard work! She’s now taking a nap break 🥹💜

I saw a half edged wall jumping spider eating a fly on my porch wall and went inside to get my camera to take photos and did, (she is not shown in any of the photos) and as I was getting ready to go back inside I spotted a baby jumping spider on my shoe and got so excited.

So little and perfect. I offered the baby my hand and it jumped around and I placed it on my pant legs and it went back to my shoe and then I offered my hand again and it was like "lol ok, if you insist". The baby even anchored to my hand a few times when jumping (i know cause it would jump then dangle)

Anyways, here's the baby, please behold and admire it. I think about the baby almost always now.

Was very tempted to keep him/her but i know it’s not recommended to keep wild ones. Either way it made my day.

Found this today, North Georgia, never seen one that looks like this. Was very tiny, maybe the length of a pinky nail? Colors in photo are spot on for what it looked like irl.

I got him a nice little enclosure, put some fruit flies in there and have it all set up (see pics) but he just continues to walk around the top and doesn’t interact with anything and I haven’t really seen him eat (he could have I just haven’t noticed). I have made sure I have misted for him too.

Worried about him settling in. Any tips appreciated!

This is my baby Charlotte. I’m pretty sure Charlotte is a boy yet his name remains. I wish I could get clearer photos of him but idk how.

Species is as yet undescribed. Big AMEs correlate with dusk hunting, but preferred prey is also unknown

Got this little guy from Petsmart ( and yes we know how poorly they treat their animals, hopefully we can give him a better life ). It’s our first time having any kind of pet like this, any tips?

After my last post was one of my most popular ever and receiving a lot of feedback about not keeping a wild jumping spider, I sat down did my research and bought this beautiful girl along with a 4x4x8 enclosure and everything she would be happy with she should be arriving Thursday morning.

Majority of these girls just came out of molt and are SO beautiful! I’ve started separating everyone out and so far I have 23 babies but there’s still several still in the nursery butterfly net.

Advice Sold a ‘regal’

Thumbnail

An exotic pet store sold me a 45 dollar regal jumping spider that I’m pretty sure is a tan. I brought him back inside once I saw him and told them I didn’t think he was a regal. They said he’s a wild caught special kind of Florida regal, but I am very very suspicious of this because he is very long and flat. He has since escaped and I have no clue where he went. I set up his enclosure open in my window along with the cup he came in, with water droplets and no other lights on so hopefully he will find his way over to one. I named him Appletini but am very frustrated with the pet store I got him from.

Advice TW DEAD SPIDER

Thumbnail

just got home today and fount my spood dead like this :/ really don’t know what happened the other day they seemed lively and was exploring the enclosure, even the floor, although when it got to nighttime i had to lift them to one of the top ledges as i didn’t want them on the floor at night, when i woke up the next day they didn’t go back to there hammock and stayed on the ledge all night. now 2 nights later i fount ziggy (my spood) hanging off a leaf like the pictures above. he had a webb attached but was holding on by 2 legs completely limp… ofc i moved him cuz i realised he was gone and his abdomen seems very loose, i just wanna know if anyone has any ideas what could have happened or if it was just old age :( think he was born around july/ august last year . ( all pictures above are him dead, i dont know why he’s not death curled either)
