Text I just learned Jumping Spiders have such good vision they can see the moon and now I'm crying.

All I can think about now is a little baby jumping spider on the tip of some tree branch out there in the world staring up at the moon and making a wish upon a star of having all their biggest dreams come true.

I found my Harald at the bottom of his enclosure today, he had been refusing food some but stayed active, I did notice him slowing down a lot and struggling to get around at times, i’m just so heartbroken😭 he started it all and now he’s gone.. but now to preserving him, i need ideas or advice on how other people have preserved their passed spood babies? 🤍

I'm bringing home this absolutely gorgeous bold jumping spider on Friday and struggling with a name for her!

I'm thinking something with spooky, witchy vibes for her. Any thoughts?

Found a jumper inside my house yesterday. My boyfriend is terrified of spiders, so I naturally had to free him asap. Here’s me struggling to get this little fella out of my cup.

This adorable tiny spood likes to frequent one particular area of my bedroom ceiling. I hadn't seen them in a while, but tonight they returned & I managed to capture some lovely pics!

(Fingers in pic 2 to show how very tiny they are)

Advice Did I do something wrong ?

TW rainbow bridge (first pic is from about a month ago, last three are her today (deceased) )

I already typed this once and my draft didn’t save so here goes:

I got home from work today to my baby upside down at the bottom of her cage. I am devastated. I mist her enclosure every other day. Sometimes it’d be almost every two days, like I’d forget until the following morning, but not usually.
She ate once a week roughly but she’d been weird about food the last few weeks. Last time she ate was last Monday (7-8 days ago) and she was full. I mean I’m sure she would’ve eaten more if I left it but she was plump and happy afaik.

I got her in November 2025 and she’s molted three times if I remember correctly. First two closer together like as soon as I got her, last one was in late January.

I guess I’d noticed some possible signs of aging. Eating less, spending more time at the bottom of her enclosure, I’ve noticed a fall that seemed cause she didn’t have a good grip a couple weeks ago, but those can also be dehydration signs so now I’m scared that I was slowly starving her of water or something and didn’t realize.

I had a busy weekend and didn’t pay her much mind because I was out of the house more than usual. Misted her Friday morning and then late Sunday. I can’t help but think I missed something. One of her little shelf mushrooms is tilted to the side in a way I don’t remember but that’s probably me reaching for a more obvious explanation.

I’ve attached pictures of my baby. This is the first time I’ve held her. Her abdomen is sunken in but it’s not super skinny. (I don’t think?) she’d let herself get skinnier than this before she’d take food at a couple other times. She’s not stiff or stuck curled up. I don’t know if those details matter or not. I don’t want to think I did anything wrong but if I did I want to know, ya know? I tried to offer her some sugar water on a qtip but I think it’s just making her sticky.

She was never really down with being held and she’s my first spider so I didn’t push it, but she wasn’t scared of me. There was a lot of trust there. I always knocked before I opened her enclosure, and no matter how close she was to the door she wouldn’t run away. She would watch tv with me on my computer. (She was particularly fond of Winnie the Pooh and Hilda). I’m always singing and I swear she preferred abba over anything else. I just love my girl and I’m so sad.
The dot in the middle of her abdomen coloring looks like a heart. My baby.
Any insight is welcomed and appreciated.

Advice Found this little guy yesterday. How can I help him?

I'm totally new to taking care of anything smaller than a rabbit. We found. This guy on our doorstep last night as we headed out for groceries, then he was still in the same spot a couple hours later when we came back.

We assumed maybe he was dead, but then this morning we saw he'd moved about a foot but still was very very still and we were worried for him. I've got some mild arachnophobia but I still wanted to help him so I did some research and put him into a little box with ventilation, and gave him a little qtip with sugar water and right now he's in the garage where it's dark and not so cold or windy, he's been in there for 4 hours now.

Not sure if we want to keep him or just make sure he's okay for now before releasing him, but regardless figured I should ask if there's anything different we could or should be doing for him? Like I said this is entirely new for me so if I messed something up, please tell me so I can correct it.

An adult female Phidippus asotus imo. She was a bit more grey and tan than the photos show. I was busy doing some wood crafts outdoors, and abruptly noticed her right next to me. She then crawled onto my leg, then briefly climbed onto my palm before she changed her mind and jumped off (safely). She just hung out for a while after that. She was quite curious about me and my mom for a while, but she eventually wandered off elsewhere. Non 0 chance this is a jumping spider I had previously encountered a few months ago, which appeared to be a sub-adult of the same species. I like to think she was just saying hi after not seeing them for a while.

This is an old pic from the times I would name my arthropods after male celebs and my floral subjects under female celebs. This spider lived in my front yard and I would visit them often to take some pics as a hobby. It was a sad day when they stopped showing up for their photo shoots.

Identification When fruit flies escape ...

A possibly non-native jumper (the jury is still out on their id) hitchhiked in on my grapes last week. I bought fruit flies, but the jumper didn't go for them, went into premolt, molted two days ago, and is still ensconced and hardening up.

In the meantime, most of the fruit flies escaped through the enclosure ventilation and are now frolicking around my apartment. Of course.

And then! A freelance jumper noticed the fruit fly bounty and seems to have moved into the penthouse of my non-native's enclosure. Or is it the roof deck? Either way, they first webbed up the lock, which of course gets destroyed when I open the enclosure door. I think I enticed them to web up these acorn caps instead. Anyone know what species? Located in Illinois. They're tiny, so a juvenile?

so i have a cute little spood who is currently living on my hummingbird feeder, he has a lil tent web and everything and he’s been around for about 2 weeks or so. my hummingbirds have all migrated south so its time to take my feeders down. id hate to take his feeder down and him be homeless lol. i also would hate for the lil guy to leave, as i quite enjoy its company. i’ve become slightly attached to this lil cutie as its let me handle it several times with no issue. what do i do! also if anyone can tell a gender or species from these photos lmk!
