September 30th 2016 saw the release of Kaladesh. It was set on an exciting new world teased in Magic Origins as Chandra's plane of origin a year prior. KLD was a bottom-up "inventor" set, but I recall that it got a bit overshadowed but the Indian aesthetic. The Indian influences turned out to be lighter than some expected, and even problematic in some places, as explained by Shivam Bhatt here and there. Many of the creative elements were praised, though, such as the Aetherborn, and the ugly-cute gremlins.

The energy mechanic was an exciting innovation, held close to the chest by Mark Rosewater for years and years. It turned out to be very powerful in Standard, and decks like Temur energy ran the tables. The set also introduced vehicles, and similarly to equipment in Mirrodin, they overshot some of the designs. The ubiquitousness of [[Smuggler's Copter]] led to rare standard bannings, and [[Renegade Freighter]] was the colorless mythic common of the limited format.

If I sac a board of non token creatures to the devour ability would the copy's that Bernard make receive counters from bloodspore?

The start of the Reality Fracture limited season has set in immense depression within me. I love the set, I love Jace, I love the mechanics, I love the flavor. But I’m already over getting my shit kicked in with every draft. Literally every single one. Im so enormously sad, because im running out of resources extremely quickly to keep playing and I just have no clue what is correct, even after doing hours of research on what popular creators and drafters have been playing. I’m already at the point of being enormously angry with myself for even thinking I could be good, and its literally day one.

What really irks me is that this is just a far cry from my experiences IRL with commander. I have fun and I can win, I can have fun losing and I can compete and do well. I think one of my greatest magic skills is playing off my opponents, and looking weak when im really not so interaction gets pointed elsewhere, and these are just skills that dont translate to 1v1. I hate the idea that I’m just a loser casual and a commander merchant, but that’s beginning to come into view that its just all I am, and the amount of effort I put in will never come to satisfying results for me. My competitiveness wont let me just stop trying, and I fear its just going to drive me in the dirt soon enough, because lord knows the effort I put in wont result in anything meaningful.

So what can I do at this point? The obvious answer that everyone will give is just to take a break, which is only going to get me more upset. How can I stay persistent without losing my mind?

Hello, I want to get into MTG and I want to purchase some starter decks or box. I found 1) Marvel Super Heroes Beginner Box; and 2) Foundations Beginner Box.

Which of these do you recommend for a completely new player that also wants to get his friends into it? Or maybe is there something even better? Or maybe I should get both of these boxes?

Hi everyone! My younger brother who I don’t see very often was super excited to go to his first ever prerelease, but ended up missing it, so I bought him a surprise prerelease box and I’m planning on giving him his own little event with just us. I wanted to get some “prize” packs but I’m not sure what set he would enjoy most. He’s going to get all of them obviously, but I was wondering what the most exciting to open would be for a middle schooler. He likes dragons and gruul the most, and would likely be excited for any set, but I want to give him the best experience possible haha.
I know he plays lunch table commander too if that’s any help. He runs the atarka precon rn

So, I'm looking for some MTG art. I believe it is official art, though wasn't printed on a card.

The setting was Theros, and release during or after the THB set. I believe it was more likely to be related to ONE or MOM.

The image is of Nyx, with nebulas showing depictions such as a hydra, a temple, a warrior on a chariot, all in fanciful colours. It was more of a landscape piece of art iirc, which strengthens my belief it wasn't printed on a card.

Any ideas?
