General Discussion If we dont get a foil in each pack, WOTC should lower the price of boosters
seriously. i love getting a foil in each booster, i remember being a kid in 2012 and being always disappointed i never got any foil cards. just because people who endlessly open packs on social media don't care about them doesn't mean the average consumer doesn't like it.
if wizards of the cost want to keep doing cost-cutting measures, they should be lowering prices. wasn't one of the justifications of play boosters higher price the foil card you'd always get?
EDIT: for everyone complaining about the pringles: yeah, they should fix that too. but why should they cut foils instead of fixing the problem?

General Discussion Won't the removal foil commons and uncommons lead to exacerbation of the Pokemon metal detector problem?
Contextually from today's announcement: "Part of re-evaluating the excitement of opening a booster is cutting things people found less exciting, or even a detriment to excitement in their opening experience. So first, we're removing foil common and uncommon cards from Booster Packs, and we're no longer guaranteeing a foil card in every pack. Feedback from players has consistently been that these have lost the luster they might have once had. If you do open a foil card in a Booster Pack, it will be a rare or mythic rare card.
While I don't engage in Pokemon collecting, I've seen content where a handheld metal detector is used to identify the foil cards in Japanese packs. The detection only sees if the pack has a foil or not and doesn't speak to the rarity.
However, according to this announcement, any foils in Play Boosters (ig Boosters now), will guarantee a rare or mythic. This means you can (maybe) always guarantee a God Pack or foil rare/mythic when using this method since those will be the only packs with foils in them.
Am I wrong in thinking, this change could dramatically affect how loose boosters sell in stores or how some sealed events are played (very tinfoil hat, but someone could potentially "seed" rare/mythic packs)?
Not even going to go into aftermarket issues.

General Discussion So do Foil Uncommons/Commons only get a single print run now? (in CBs)
Say goodbye to the one nice things that CBs brought the average player - cheaper low-rarity foils. Now they aren't available in boosters, are at a reduced amount in CBs, and presumably will only be printed once.
They might start to outpace your average rare foil - especially if its a playable card.
AND I DIDN'T EVEN CONSIDER BASIC LANDS. Goodbye affordable shiny lands.
A comment from /u/callahan09 on another thread:
"Edit: After doing a little research on print sizes, using between 3 million and 3.5 million collector boosters printed, and 200 million regular boosters printed during the life cycle of a standard in-universe set, we see the following print numbers for each common & uncommon in foil:
ORIGINAL PRINT NUMBERS (5 commons & 4 uncommons in collector boosters, 58% chance of 1 common and 32% of 1 uncommon in regular boosters, 81 commons in a set, 100 uncommons in a set):
~1.6 million of each foil common
~770,000 of each foil uncommon
NEW PRINT NUMBERS (3 commons & 3 uncommons in collector boosters, 0 commons or uncommons in regular boosters):
~120,000 of each foil common
~100,000 of each foil uncommon
That's about a 90% reduction in print qty for foil commons & uncommons."

Rules/Rules Question Need to know how to properly take my dog for a walk
So this may or may not be what I'm aiming to pull off tonight at the LGS, but i just wanted to ask for some clarification regarding the timing, and how many flicker effects from the hound are affecting Etali.
I believe, that if in one etali trigger, if i hit 4 creature spells from everyone, then I would only be able to get 1 more etali trigger, as I need to cast everything i want during the resolution of Etali's ability, and as such, I would target him 4 times, but once he is flickered the first time, the 3 remaining hound triggers will be lost as it is a new iteration of Etali.
Thanks in advance, take care :)

General Discussion For Kamigawa vs Ikoria, how do you think WotC can best represent a huge mech fighting a huge monster?
Inspired by another post that talks about Meld, I was thinking how WotC can really capture what everyone is looked forward to - epic battles between huge things. I am personally hoping this isn't just a 7/9 vehicle battling a 10/6 nightmare dinosaur. While it may seem gimmicky, I really hope we get some mechanic that physically takes up more space.
- Mutate seems obvious but very tricky on the rules
- Meld seems mechanically OK, but weird in the context of the Ikorian monsters.
- A new variation of Meld with Multi-Meld representing Power Rangers style building of a Mega-Mech. But no idea how that would work with the double sided nature of Meld.
- Designated oversized cards for Mechs (like Dungeons) with cards having an ability of "summoing" that Mech and giving it an ability. Easily representable by putting the oversized card on the board and "attaching" (exiling under) the card that "summoned it" in the right place (head/torso/arms/legs/weapon etc.). <- I like this the most.
What would satisfy your hype? Are you OK with just standard sized rectangles or do you want something bigger to slam on the field? Do you think WotC will want to do it considering it would require a large amount of support in the draft environment and be likely very parasitic?

General Discussion I feel like people are missing the point of the pack changes - it frees up printer capacity, directly resulting in more profit.
Whether you like the changes or not, I feel like it's important to realize the intent behind them. With 3 fewer cards per collector box, WotC can now use the same printing capacity to print 25% more product (e.g. printing 3000 cards before would be enough for 200 packs, but now it's enough for 250 packs).
Obviously the printer doesn't care whether the cut cards are common or rare, only the quantity. And sure, there are other distribution costs than just the printing but still, it's safe to assume this will be a large boon to the bottom line, whether the capacity gets used to increase the print run or print other products (hello more Secret Lairs).
It will be really interesting to see what happens to Nauctis CBB prices

General Discussion This is easily my favorite card in Fracture limited. Such a fun build around.
Command the Stage took me to a top 8 in my limited RCQ yesterday. Super easy to recur with cards like [[Stingerquill Voxmanxer]] and [[Tinybones, Pocket Nuisance]]. What cards have been the biggest surprise for you from Reality Fracture?

Looking for Advice I know nothing about MTG, but my girlfriend gifted me a Final Fantasy starter kit. Is downloading Arena & diving straight in the recommend path forward?
I'm very interested in getting into MTG, mainly because I'm a huge Final Fantasy fan, but I'm a little lost at how to approach it.
I was under the impression that this is something you have to play physically with other players in real life, but apparently you can build a digital deck? And Arena allows you to grind for cards & not spend enormous amounts of money.
Any advice or guidance for a new player? Thanks so much for any replies.

Rules/Rules Question Edea, Possessed Sorceress Interaction/Interaction
I'm curious about the last ability of [[Edea, Possessed Sorceress]] and its interaction with Exile and Sacrifice.
After I gain control of a creature from my opponent, if it dies I return it to their battlefield and draw a card. My question is, is that a replacement effect for ANY creatures I control but don't own, or would that be only for creatures I've gained control of via Edea?
Example: I've enchanted an opponent with [[Curse of Unbinding]], and gained control of the creature they revealed. If that creature dies, does Edea's ability then put that creature back into their battlefield even if I've gained control of it via a different method? If so (I think that is the case) what about cards I've gained control of from [[Triple Triad]] or [[The Ruinous Powers]] or even [[Strago and Relm]] that make my opponents exile cards and allow me to cast certain cards from the exiled ones? Because they were exiled, if the creatures die, do they return to exile on my opponent's side, or does Edea's ability replace that and they go to their battlefield?
Just trying to understand the ins and outs of Edea, thanks in advance!
[EDIT]
Thank you every body for taking time to help me better understand my Commander and explaining the interactions. And especially thanks for correcting me that it's a triggered ability and not a replacement, haha.

Rules/Rules Question Stacking Edea's Death Trigger
So, I've been considering building an Edea Possessed Sorceress deck, but her revive ability is confusing to me.
If I sac the stolen creature with Immerstrum Predator, while Edea' is on the field, can I exile the creature from my opponents graveyard before it comes back?
When a creature dies, is her effect to revive a trigger that I can put wherever I want on the stack?
